The Kingdom of Kalpi is a huge, cultured nation, ruled by Himketu Vikramaditya with an even hand, and remarkable for its infamous sell-swords, state-planned economy, and ban on automobiles. The quiet, industrious population of 884 million Kalpians are fiercely patriotic and enjoy great social equality; they tend to view other, more capitalist countries as somewhat immoral and corrupt.

The relatively small, socially-minded government juggles the competing demands of Defense, Industry, and Education. It meets to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Indralok. The average income tax rate is 26.9%, but much higher for the wealthy.

The very strong Kalpian economy, worth 70.9 trillion Mudras a year, is driven entirely by a combination of government and state-owned industry, with private enterprise illegal. However, for those in the know, there is a slick, highly efficient, fairly diversified black market in Trout Farming, Arms Manufacturing, Basket Weaving, and Information Technology. The private sector mostly consists of enterprising ten-year-olds selling lemonade on the sidewalk, but the government is looking at stamping this out. Average income is 80,235 Mudras, and distributed extremely evenly, with little difference between the richest and poorest citizens.

Maxtopian tourists make expensive pilgrimages to Indralok to enjoy their national art, the dish 'poisson avec poison' is only available on the black market, sleep-deprived officials are known to collapse after late night revision for their examinations, and hockey players who drop their gloves discard them on abandoned baseball mitts. Crime, especially youth-related, is totally unknown. Kalpi's national animal is the Peacock, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests.

Kalpi is ranked 69,513th in the world and 22nd in India for Largest Agricultural Sector, scoring 1,861.19 on the Mu-Bah-Daggs Productivity Index.
