State of Hwaryeo {WIP}
Hwaryeo, alternatively Warea, officially the National Republican State of Hwaryeo (Warean: 화려사회공화국, Hwaryeo Sahoegonghwagug) is a sovereign island nation in Eastern Asia. It lies in the SCS, separated from Sina. It shares a maritime border with Japan in the southwest and Japan in the northwest. Iseul is the capital city while Muri is the most populated, as well as the leading economic and cultural hub. The area of the Social Republic of Hwaryeo is 2,800,000 square kilometers and the population is 600 million.
The country is current going through what is arguably one of the worst overpopulation crises in world history, with city populations the densest in the entire region. Years of extreme urbanization, state incentives for large families, and the illegality of emigration and abortions in most cases has led the population to swell more than 50 million in only a couple decades. The government has refused to acknowledge the existence of this crisis. Rural areas that have not been converted to cultivated farmland are also being overtaken by informal settlements comprising small and densely packed shacks of those too poor to live in the equally dense urban areas.
Hwaryeo is considered a regional power and a developed country, with its economy ranked as the world's fourteenth-largest by nominal GDP and the fourteenth-largest by GDP (PPP). Its citizens enjoy one of the world's fastest Internet connection speeds and densest high-speed railway networks.

There have been various speculations for the breakdown of Hwaryeo as a name, the most common being hwa meaning "bright", "colorful" and ryeo meaning "beautiful". The Hwaryeo government requested the World Assembly and other international organizations use Hwaryeo officially in most languages around the world, which the World Assembly immediately agreed to do. The reason given was that Hwaryeo "represents and expresses the culture, civilization, and values of the Hwaryeoic nation in a way no other language can convey".
The name Warea is an exonym, although it was derived from Hwaryeo.
Prehistory
The island of Hwaryeo has been inhabited since the paleolithic era, it is possible that humans crossed a land bridge during a warm period that has since collapsed into the seas around the country. Ancient Hwaryeo was a maritime power, which motivates some to call it the "Phoenicia of East Asia". Its maritime ability was instrumental in the dissemination of Buddhism throughout East Asia and spreading continental culture to other Asiatic island nations. The country sits at a unique nexus point where numerous civilizations have interacted and often fought.
