The Interstellar Shogunate of Hoshi no Bakufu is a massive, socially progressive nation, ruled by Shogun Taro Kokotaruto with an even hand, and notable for its barren, inhospitable landscape, free-roaming dinosaurs, and absence of drug laws. The hard-nosed, hard-working population of 4.465 billion Bakufuans are either ruled by a sleek, efficient government or a conglomerate of multinational corporations; it's difficult to tell which.

The relatively small, pro-business government juggles the competing demands of Defense, Education, and Industry. It meets to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Megatokyo. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 21.7%.

The all-consuming Bakufuan economy, worth 461 trillion Hyaku-ens a year, is broadly diversified and led by the Arms Manufacturing industry, with major contributions from Information Technology, Retail, and Gambling. Average income is an impressive 103,251 Hyaku-ens, but there is an enormous disparity between incomes, with the richest 10% of citizens earning 617,846 per year while the poor average 7,842, a ratio of 78.8 to 1.

The realistic depiction of tentacles is on the core syllabus of most art schools, city workers have declared that rolling markets aren't good for business after all, nighttime sightings of raccoons sporting Circle-A patches and bandanna masks are on the rise, and record sales of 'child-whacking sticks' have been reported. Crime, especially youth-related, is totally unknown. Hoshi no Bakufu's national animal is the Equestria Maid, which is also the nation's favorite main course, and its national religion is State Shinto.

Hoshi no Bakufu is ranked 164,404th in the world and 6,122nd in Balder for Most Authoritarian, with 427.1 milliStalins.
