From many of the Japanese nations there, yours actually is quite distinctive in embracing the software revolution, and overall being more liberal than IRL Japan, or many autocratic Japans there in NS. Also, your Japan is shaped like Twintails, which is even cooler.

No clue who the user is, so can't comment across multiple nations. This one in particular seems to have a soft historical grounding, and fits quite well into the general theme of "x real nation, but better". Though I generally haven't seen this sort of thing done with Japan yet, and the way in which it is done is suggestive more of a cultural shift rather than a straight-up historical one.

It seems Hatsunia took a different path than its real-world counterpart, Japan, in WW2. They joined the Allies when China fell to the Axis through the fascist Blue Shirts Society, and at the end of the war China ended up getting split into north and south, with much the same characteristics as RL Korea. Unburdened by a WW2 defeat and the concessions RL Japan had to make, Hatsunia chugged on steadily and ended up making nuclear weapons and a southeast Asian international union, and also become an international leader in technological innovation. They kept an army where Japan had to give theirs up, and their Defense Forces participated in global peacekeeping and humanitarian efforts. Oh, and they went to the moon.

Inkopolitia would look at Hatsunia with good eyes, appreciating the heavy mix of technology, civil rights, and entertainment-oriented culture Inkopolitia also happens to have. The nation would try and pursue trade deals with Hatsunia, hell, even an alliance between the 2 states.

I have complimented and talked about how nice and well-done both the visuals and the content are, and that still stands. What I found unique is the concept of a Japan-based nation that has a healthy amount of vocaloid / anime / animation style to it and at the same time, are aware of not overdoing it. I would use TVTropes for you just like how you use it for your own nation: Your nation is Exactly What It Says on the Tin - A Japan-based nation that embraced technology and aims to be one of those places that you never, ever wanted to leave. So, good job on all fronts and for making me love your nation like a lot! ♥

That one nation with amazing and futuristic looking aesthetics without making it authoritarian or dictatorial. Not just the ideologies, but you know like how futuristic nations have always grimy looks, grimy buildings, all the rust and grime, or just can't afford a 45W light bulb to light up the hallways.

You are an exception to this, and I love it! ♥

They’re perhaps the only well done Vocaloid-based nation on the site, as far as I remember. It’s pretty good.

It's a very interesting thought experiment - what Japan be like if it had put more effort into technology and human rights? So far, the result is quite lovely! :D

They do a great job at deceiving people with short attention spans, for example, this whole thing with Hatsunia? It's often underestimated as weeb Japan obsessed with Hatsune Miku, but then you look deeper and, well, whilst the thing is only right at times, there's a whole lot further information than just the national icon and the unusual shape of the islands.

Not-Japan, founded by a mythical singer instead of a solar deity, embraced liberal humanistic ideals of the West and fought strategically defensive wars against Russia and Dark Timeline China and then made a Greater East Asian Co-Prosperity Sphere...but they really meant the thing about Co-Prosperity.

(note: I don't believe things like human rights are exclusively "western concepts")

First off, your wiki sets the new standard of dedication and professionalism for conworlds..

Secondly, when you decided to base your nation on high science, you did not mess about. The crazy levels of tech flesh is.. well crazy. Crazy good offcourse.

Pretty sure you would be nominated for the Nobel Conworld prize if such a thing existed. Consider me your newest groupie

Most countries with a concept like this go "Haha Hatsune Miku real, real quirky doe"

Nope. You go all out with actual lore, detailed factbooks, the whole shebang! You're a gimmick nation that ascended BEYOND the gimmick. Keep on keeping on.

The fact that they stan Japan, Japanese culture and Japanese anime pop culture (especially Hatsune Miku/Vocaloid) and make it as the foundation of their nation despite the fact that they are socially liberal and progressive. Though there are notable exceptions, a lot of NS nations that are Japanese-themed or Japanese anime-themed tend to be conservative or reactionary.

Also, while Hatsune Miku is undeniably a large part of their worldbuilding and lore, the fact that she seems to take a backseat is also recognizable compared to the central idea of a Liberal, Social Democratic and Progressivist Japan.

...Another is AU's fascination with the space program, or the Japanese space program RL, and their incorporation of it into their lore. It is very rare to see realistically grounded MT nations having a very well-developed space program concept that does not veer into FT and PMT weirdness.

Not really sure whether the space program images in their Factbooks are made in Kerbal [they are] (don't know that game also) or in some 3d program like Blender, or just edited it seems, but the effort put into all of it is also a big plus!

Hatsunia is... incredibly awesome, actually. Basically a utopia of explosive advancements in two of the largest entity that make up my life - modern Japanese internet culture and tech development. I can already see that in this universe, with Hatsunia being basically the primary economic and cultural hegemon of Asia, at least 50% of those in my college major and literally all of my friends, and me included, will already be flocking to Hatsunian independent campus programs with the end goal of migrating and working there - imagine Silicon Valley, but far more geographically accessible, and far more based. I too had my own "grievances" against the boomerism of modern Japan - in fact Japan's stagnation and Silicon Valley's triumph serve as one of the most important case studies that lay the foundation of my political beliefs, and the criticism factbook is on point.

Definitely the 'scientifically-advanced non-specific east asian country' trope. I absolutely love the fact that the AU has completely reimagined what a Japan-like nation might look like given a legacy of better technological investment, sensible social policy, and level-headed leadership. Not to mention, the wiki overview article alone represents such a high watermark of genuinely-good content deliverance on this site. Hatsunia is an immutable brand-name in creatively structured realism, and certainly represents one of the most clean-cut examples of what good worldbuilding is to date.

As much as the flag and other such things might continue to give them the appearance of yet another anime meme nation, they really have grown beyond that label. It's less a parody and more of a juxtaposition of our timeline's Japan, the latter of which they have gone to a great deal of research to illuminate the fact that it really isn't a technological wonderland or even that great of a place to live.

Instead they have written an actual ideal Japan that carries individualist, egalitarian, and forward-thinking principles at its core, not least of all a desire to advance art and technology. Hats off.

I've learnt that Hatsunia's pre-modern history is quite progressive, perhaps borderline pacifistic, because it does sort of handwave away the geopolitical ramifications of— say— a non-isolationist east asian archipelago to the east of Korea.

But this isn't to criticize the nation, no, to make that a point of contention would be petty as it misses the entire "What if" scenario the Hatsunia project represents— a technophilic, socially progressive Japan with a healthy and diverse culture. For those acquainted with Japanese history, this nation is a teaser of a bygone future, a potential that will remain out of reach within contemporary Japan's immediate future.
