Symbolism of the Hatsunese flag

The flag of Hatsunia is known as the Negimaru (ネギ丸) or "green onion circle," and was officially adopted on March 9, 1857, a few months before the promulgation of the Moeji Constitution on August 31.

It is composed of a rectangular white field (2:3 ratio) and a turquoise disk with a white border containing a green onion (negi) in the center, overlayed on a horizontal stripe of magenta with turquoise cottices.

The white background represents integrity.
The turquoise disk represents the water surrounding the country, and the hair of Hatsune Miku, a legendary singer and founder of Hatsunia according to folklore.
The green onion was waved in rhythm to music, and was associated with "the first sounds of the day" in ancient rituals.
The horizontal magenta stripe represents the bright and prosperous future on the horizon.
