The Species of Greater Cosmicium

The Universal Empire of Greater Cosmicium is comprised of untold trillions of species, many inhabiting only one planet, and only a handful being spread out across the whole of Greater Cosmicium. As a full summary of all the species of Greater Cosmicium would be at least millions, maybe billions of pages long, only information about the most important species of the country will be given.

Major Species

These species are considered "major" due to their numbers and widespread habitat range, as well as their high levels of sentience.

Humans

Humans (species name Homo sapiens sapiens) are the second most numerous species in Greater Cosmicium, making up 12.1% of the total citizen population. They are the species from which all Cosmicians are descended from.

Humans are a bipedal species with four limbs, using two limbs for locomotion and leaving two other limbs free for other uses. The average male human is around 1.83 m tall and the average female human is around 1.7 m tall as of 1072914 C.E. Respectively, the average male weighs around 75 kg and the average female around 60 kg. The average human lives, without augmentation, around 80 years. They are of average strength, muscularity, relative width and above-average intelligence.

Humanity first arose around 200,000 BCE from evolution of a previous species, Homo erectus, which was the result of the chimpanzee-human divergence that happened around 7,000,000 BCE. With the discovery of fire, humans could harness significantly more nutrients from the food they ate, leading to an increase in brain size, and finally to the rise of agriculture around 10,000 BCE and the first civilizations around 4,000 BCE. Around 2020 C.E., the population of humanity was around 7.8 billion, whose continued expansion contributed to resource shortages, food shortages and nearly led to the extinction of them on Terra from runaway climate change, forcing them to seek other planets to keep their population growing. With the invention of the warp drive, a slow but practical way of FTL travel, and the discovery of new habitable planets, humanity's future was secured. Today they make up part of the dominant class of species in Greater Cosmicium.

Khaazai (species name Homo sapiens khaazaicus), informally known as Elves are a major humanoid species in Greater Cosmicium, closely related to Humans. They make up 16.7% of the total citizen population. Though their precursors evolved on Terra, the modern Khaazai originate from Nyr-Khol, the home of the Shyrun Tower. There are at least two kinds of Khaazai: Eyrakhaazai (Sun/High Khaazai), and Xorakhaazai (Night/Dark Khaazai). Some also distinguish the Maankhaazai (Wood Khaazai) and the Rahikhaazai (Fire Khaazai), but this remains to be confirmed.

Khaazai are a bipedal species with four limbs, using two limbs for locomotion and leaving two other limbs free for other uses. The average male Khaazai is around 2.1 m tall and the average female Khaazai is around 1.87 m tall. The average male weighs 100 kg and the average female weighs 70 kg. The average Khaazai, without augmentation or magic, due to their resistance to diseases, lives around 500 years. Some, due to the immense power of Khaazai magic have lived for over 10,000 years, a few over 100,000 years, and at least three Khaazai from before the Cosmician invasion are still alive, at over 1,000,000 years old. The supposed differences between male and female Khaazai have been disputed though, with several extensive studies pointing to a significantly less significant height difference, and a very similar body (closely resembling Human females) even down to, most shockingly of all, both sexes having breasts capable of lactating. This may have been the reason why many older research papers claimed the Khaazai only had one gender.

Khaazai first arose around 200,000 BCE from evolution of a previous species, Homo erectus, which was the result of the chimpanzee-human divergence that happened around 7,000,000 BCE. As soon as the Khaazai lit their first fire, also around 200,000 BCE, an ominous energy gave them unprecedented power compared to Humans. The energy was weak, but it was strong enough to let them teleport to the center of the energy, the planet of Nyr-Khol. They were immediately more advanced than humanity, especially in terms of magic, making it their technology, and shunning non-magical technologies beyond those crucial for the existence of the Khaazai. Their spaceships, powered by Shyrun energy, traveled hundreds and thousands of light years very quickly by using Shyrun energy to enter a realm where the speed was limited only by the power of Shyrun at that location. This was their greatest achievement, but their greatest curse, as Shyrun energy became so weak as to be unusable at intergalactic distances, trapping them in the Milky Way. For the last 10,000 years of their independence, they fought against the Universal Federation, bent on annihilating them as a species. They were conquered by Greater Cosmicium in 2257 in a devastating invasion that left 97% of their people dead, most of them due to the removal of Shyrun to prevent Greater Cosmicium from using the Khaazai's greatest superweapons against the Khaazai. Today they make up part of the dominant class of species in Greater Cosmicium.

King Scorpions

King Scorpions (order name Scorpiones) are a major offensive species, used by the Igrid Empire during their failed defense offensive against Greater Cosmicium. They now make up around 6.7% of the citizen population.

King Scorpions are a multipedal species with eight limbs, using more than four limbs for locomotion. The average King Scorpion is around 1.3 meters tall when measured to their head and 3.5 meters tall when measured to their stinger, and weighs around 150 kg. They are extremely strong and highly muscular, have a venomous stinger capable of instantly killing several enemies, are very wide and long and are of below-average intelligence. Due to the effects of the plague that killed the Unseen, all Scorpions are now hermaphrodites.

Scorpions have existed in some form since the early Silurian era, 430 million years ago, on both land and sea habitats. Around 300 million years ago, an unknown ship abducted several million of them, spreading them across most of the Milky Way galaxy. Since then, they have successfully colonized the rest of the known universe.
