The Second American Civil War

January 20, 2025. Donald J. Trump is sworn in as the 47th president of the United States. Policies from the conservative thinktank, Project 2025, are implemented during a 180 day period. The responses to this are mixed, yet clear. Few people support these policies and the majority has made their voice heard around the world. They hate this. Those that doubted it would happen before the 2024 election are now marching on the streets with their fellow Americans.
As time goes by and the policies become harsher, rumors spread of organized groups preparing to overthrow the government. In the state of Georgia, governor Brian Kemp is doing everything he can to maintain stability. Although being a republican and having endorsed Trump for his campaign, he now finds himself stuck between what's right and what's wrong. With the growing violence across the United States, he now implements policies in Georgia not for the people's sake, but for his sake. Republican politicians across the US have either gone missing, were assassinated, or have had attempts on their life for contributing to Project 2025's success. Georgia being a state mixed between republicans and democrats puts Kemp's life at risk. He's implemented policies that go against his own beliefs in order to try and maintain some stability in the state, but by doing that he also puts himself on thin ice with the new authoritarian government.

July 4, 2025. People across the United States, republicans and democrats alike, come together not just for unity, but for change. Various organized groups, including political parties that were ripped out of the spotlight thanks to the Electoral College, rose up against the Federal Government. Some state governors seceded on their own terms. California, Texas, Hawaii, Alaska New England, Cascadia, Lakotah, and Aztlan declared their independence from the Federal Government. The Federal Government refused to recognize these new countries as independent states, Alaska united with Cascadia as the two were in the same region and faced economic problems with the lack of support from the Federal Government, and Deseret split from Aztlan, causing a conflict between the two that's still ongoing as of when this was written.

Despite this already being a lot on the Federal Government, this was not the only problem they would face. In Chicago, the communists had already risen up and expanded their control all the way to New York City, leaving the main regions of New York under the control of New England. Their next course of action was to establish the Socialist Union of America. The fascists in the northwest, while small in numbers, had also risen up. Even though the views they held were identical to that of the Federal Government's after Project 2025 was put into effect, they believed that these policies didn't go far enough and that the Federal Government was doomed anyways. Shortly after, we would see the beginning of the ongoing conflict between the fascist Northwest American Republic and Cascadia. This conflict began after the Northwest Republic attacked the southern regions of Idaho, hoping to gain control of the capital city of Boise and strengthen its power in western America. Since then, the conflict has also expanded to Lakotah. Since then, Cascadia, California, and Lakotah have all formed an alliance in order to ensure their sovereignty. While Texas also has close relations with the three, the Texan government did not wish to get involved, nor did they deem an alliance necessary at the time as the country was already one of the most powerful in the region. They also didn't want their problems in the east to threaten the west.

While the majority of newly formed governments in the west wished to remain independent instead of reuniting the United States under their own banners, the situation in the east was much more complicated. While there is New England in the north, there's no real confirmation over whether or not they wish to keep to themselves or reunite the country under their banner. Around the time the communists took New York City, in the south, Florida governor Ron DeSantis called upon the south to secede with Florida in order to "ensure the survival of America and her conservative values." While most states before July 4 were suffering from mass protests, Florida was a different situation. Before the 2024 election, DeSantis had already been turning Florida into a police state, intimidating voters and suppressing the voices of the people. While most of Project 2025 was being implemented, a good portion of it never got to see the light of day, either because the project was never finished by the Federal Government or because there were sections of it that the Federal Government didn't want to make a reality. DeSantis wanted the project to be implemented in its entirety in order to secure traditional values in America. When most of the south did join DeSantis, they were only brought back to stability because they started following in the same footsteps as DeSantis in response to dissent. This nation was called the Second American Confederation.

The Confederation obviously held clear resemblance to the Confederate States of America. Kemp didn't want Georgia to join at first, but considering the state was surrounded at that point and it was clear the Federal Government wouldn't make it out alive in the end, there wasn't much of a choice. North Carolina governor Roy Cooper didn't want to join the Confederation, but he didn't want to remain with the Federal Government forever. Despite his efforts to maintain stability in North Carolina, it was clear that as long as the Federal Government still existed, it and its remaining states would grow more and more unstable. Cooper's life was already in danger, but if he were to side with the Confederation, it's unknown whether DeSantis would've made him an exception or if he'd have Cooper assassinated.

News would eventually come out that Donald Trump and JD Vance were assassinated by spies, the nationality and identity of which are still unclear. While the Speaker of the House should've become president after this, the situation became more complicated after reports came out that everyone else in the line of succession had been killed by insurgents just sometime before Trump and Vance. With no one left in the line of succession, the Federal Government which already being torn apart from the inside, had reached its lowest point since the start of the Second American Civil War. General Charles Q. Brown Jr. declared himself the de facto President of the United States, a controversial decision among those who were in the states that the Federal Government still had control over.

The Confederation would prosper, as it was now officially more stable than the United States of America itself. The Confederation launched an attack against Oklahoma, which as of the time this document was written is still under the control of Texas. This was the start of eastern conflicts spilling into the west. Despite the Confederation's power in the region, Texas has proven to be just as strong, if not stronger. While a conflict between the Confederation and Texas was expected, what nobody would've expected was the return of instability across the south, this time even managing to spread across Florida. Even though the Confederation was able to use its army to control the people, the Dixon Army wasn't large enough to handle both tasks at the same time. In fact, many of those in the Confederation who were members of the US Military were either arrested or surrendered and refused to join the Dixon Army. Many of those who joined were inexperienced and didn't receive enough training. Many who had just joined didn't receive much training at all, as there was very little time between when the Confederation declared independence and when it invaded Texas. It was barely even a month and the Confederation seemed like it was about to meet a similar fate to the United States.

The people rose up in Miami, declaring the Democratic Republic of Florida. They managed to push against the Dixon Army all the way up to Orlando. A good portion of the the DRF's army consisted of already highly trained soldiers who had previously surrendered to the Confederation and defectors from the Dixon Army. Although the DRF could easily be able to push further into Florida and potentially reach Tallahassee, so far there hasn't been any major advances into the north. This would not be the last act of resistance the Confederation would face however. In Georgia, the riots reached a large enough scale that an uprising had begun in Atlanta. While we still don't know what happened to Brian Kemp, it's possible that he fled to New England.

The people of Georgia managed to liberate themselves from the tyranny of the Confederation, and eventually South Carolina and East Tennessee. And so, the Democratic Republic of Free Azrelia was declared. When we gained our independence, our acting president at the time was Stacey Abrams before it was agreed that a council would be in control until further notice. When Stacey Abrams was the temporary president of Azrelia, she arranged a meeting with governor Roy Cooper and offered him to join Azrelia. This offer was accepted, and as of the time of this being written, Azrelia has not experienced anymore territorial gains. The same cannot be said for everywhere else however. At the moment, our current plan is to take control of the rest of the Confederation and allow Florida to become an independent democratic state. If we're fortunate enough, Virginia may also join Azrelia in the future. For now, it is best that we focus on how to survive this civil war instead of our territorial ambitions.
