A Brief Summary of the Great Mess that is the History of The Spanish Confederation.

The year was 1918. World War One had just ended, with the Entente claiming the victory. Empires like the German and, most notably, the Austro-Hungarian (which led to the independence of Galicia-Lodomeria), fell.

The Spanish State joined the Great War under Central Powers as a result of German bribery. As a result of the defeat of the Powers, the Treaty of Versailles would also hit Spain, and hit it did. The Spanish State was dissolved, as its 17 regions became independent, and the African colonies it had were split between Portugal and France.

Between 1919, and 1921, the Kingdoms of Galicia and Galicia-Lodomeria strenghtened their relations, which led to the Union Pact of Vigo-Kraków, thus, leading to the creation of the United States of The two galicias.

While this was happening, the Old Regions were figuring out how to restore Spain. These were some of their ideas:
-Having Madrid annex every Old Region, excluding Galicia, and rename itself to the Second Spanish State.

-Every Western Region would request the Two Galicias to be accepted into their United States, thus, leading to the United States of West Spain and Lodomeria. This idea was tried once in 1925 by Asturias, however, it was rejected by the Two Galicias, as they felt it wasn't in their interest to restore their former countries.

-Most notably, Leon and Extremadura's idea: creating a Confederacy within the Western Regions, thus, originating the Federal Spanish States. The idea was brought forward in 1929, when Leon and Extremadura united under the Confederacy via the Union Pact of León-Badajoz.

Although a Confederacy was though about before, most notably in the 1700's after the Spanish War of Succession, the idea of such a system was never brought forward up until this moment.

During the 1930's, the FSS quickly grew, with Asturias, Castille, Western La Mancha, Western Andalusia, Northern Aragon, and, most notably, Madrid, joining it.

However, a similar thing was happening in Eastern Old Spain. The Democratic Republic of Hispania was created by Catalonia, which was under the control of the anarcho-communist CNT-FAC (Confedració Nacional del Treball – Federació Anąrquica Catalą). Hispania quickly took control of Valencia, Murcia, Eastern Andalusia, Eastern La Mancha, and the rest of the Eastern Regions, minus Navarre, which stayed independent.

This led to a Cold War-esque rivalry between the right winger Confederacy and the anarcho-communist Republic, which ended with the dissolution of the Republic in the 1960's, due to an economic crisis ravaging the Regions, which led to revolts and sudden changes of governments in a short amount of time, leaving them in an unrecoverable state.

While the Iberian Cold War was happening, The Two Galicias began to weaken, as a result of the FSS gaining traction, and, in 1953, Iberian Galicia sent a telegram to Galicia-Lodomeria stating that they no longer want the Two Galicias to exist. As a result of the dissolution, Iberian Galicia joined the Federal Spanish States.

Ever since the end of the Cold War, the Federal Spanish States were growing, although slowly, steadily, leading to an era of economic prosper in 2051, which continues to this day.

In 2057, as a result of a national referendum, the official name of the FSS changed from "The Confederation of the Federal Spanish States" to "The Spanish Confederation".
