Eldenian Naval Doctrine - FT - Up To Date
This is a brief overview of how Eldenian ships participate in space warfare. If there's something I've missed or you think I should expand on, just shoot me a telegram and I'll fix it!Fighter Tactics – Eldenian naval task forces utilize two varieties of fighters, disposable pure hardlight and high-value metallic constructions. All Eldenian vessels are capable of deploying the pure hardlight variants via external hardlight projectors- they are then controlled by the Navitas consciousness in battle. Metallic fighter variants are only deployed from capital ships, predominantly carriers. These two variants work together, with mass assault doctrines utilized by the hardlight craft supported by precision strikes by metallic craft.
Screens – Eldenian battlegroups have a three-tier screen against fighter craft and missiles. The first layer consists of fighter craft deployed in a spread around the battlegroup, capable of engaging enemy fighter craft and, though less effective, shooting down missiles. The second layer consists of dedicated screening vessels, generally corvettes and frigates under 500m. These are effective against both missiles and fighter craft, fielding high-capacity point defense systems and high maneuverability. The final line of defense consists of the overlapping point defense systems of the capital ships making up the core of the fleet’s combat line. Though not as maneuverable as lighter ships, Eldenian capital ships still field formidable point defense systems and a linked battlenet allowing coordination between them all to provide a grid defense against missiles and fighters.
Order of Battle – Eldenian battlegroups will generally begin a battle by maintaining their distance, using time and space to launch all available fighter craft and prime all systems. Once ready they will engage enemies at a range, utilizing their high-speed anti-ship weapons and FTL sensors to try and pick off ships from long distance. When reduced to knife range the battle becomes short and brutal, with screening vessels and small capital ships taking on a flanking role while larger ships dive into the enemy formation, attempting to scatter and disorient it.
Retreat – Eldenian vessels, owing to the nature of their FTL, can break from a battle at any point they choose. Disappearing into FTL, the vessels will randomly jump to points outside the system’s gravity well before warping to a previously-communicated Shield World to regroup. Ships with a disabled FTL drive will be forced to fight their way out, generally taking a least-time course out of the system before repairing their FTL drive for exfiltration. If the Navitas is being interfered with within a system fleets will be forced to fight their way out, generally trying to slip past the enemy formation on the sides for a least-contact engagement before heading for the system edge.
