Disneyland Elykyellek

Disneyland Elykyellek Resort is a theme park and vacation resort located in Anomop, Kelley, Elykyellek, southeast of Kelley City. The resort is owned and operated by Compass West with a license from The Walt Disney Company. The resort officially opened on May 3, 2008 and includes two theme parks, one water park, seven themed resort hotels, and a shopping, dining, and entertainment complex, covering 60.7 square kilometers (15,000 acres) of land.

History and Development

The Yellekan government began discussions with The Walt Disney Company to finance a Disney resort in Elykyellek in the mid 1980’s. In 2002 the Yellekan government and The Walt Disney Company announced plans to build Disneyland Elykyellek Resort. Compass West was created by the Yellekan government to finance and operate the resort and Walt Disney Imagineering was leased to construct the resort. 15,000 acres of government land approximately 80 km southeast of Kelley City was chosen as the site for the resort. May 3, 2008 was the opening dates for Disneyland Park, Downtown Disney, The Disneyland Hotel, The New Orleans Resort, The San Francisco Bay Resort, Camp Wilderness Resort and the Monorail transportation system.

The resort exceeded expectations with over 10 million visitors in it’s first year. In 2013 the resort was expanded with the openings of the Water Kingdom water park and the Alpine Village Resort. In 2014 a second theme park, Hyperion Park was announced to open in 2018. In 2016 the South Seas Resort opened and the Desert Springs Inn & Resort will open in 2018.
