The Republic of Ecout is a massive, cultured nation, remarkable for its closed borders, deadly medical pandemics, and parental licensing program. The compassionate, hard-working, cheerful population of 2.767 billion Ecoutians are either ruled by a sleek, efficient government or a conglomerate of multinational corporations; it's difficult to tell which.

The relatively small, corrupt, pro-business government is primarily concerned with Industry, although Law & Order, Administration, and Healthcare are also considered important, while Spirituality receives no funds. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 70.5%.

The frighteningly efficient Ecoutian economy, worth 760 trillion currencies a year, is broadly diversified and dominated by the Retail industry, with significant contributions from Uranium Mining, Soda Sales, and Information Technology. Black market activity is rampant. Average income is an amazing 274,970 currencies, but there is a vast disparity between incomes, with the richest 10% of citizens earning 2,465,633 per year while the poor average 3,925, a ratio of 628 to 1.

Procrastination is a national sport, referenda are banned by law and the Parliament has absolute control of the legislative process, inheritance tax has recently been abolished, and E-SPAN features senators wrestling with ever-increasing production elements. Crime is totally unknown, thanks to a capable police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Ecout's national animal is the animal, which is also the nation's favorite main course.

Ecout is ranked 1,263rd in the world and 21st in The East Pacific for Largest Timber Woodchipping Industry, scoring 16,400.93 on the Tasmanian Pulp Environmental Export Index.
