Complete History of Derika

After the founding of the first city, Hadesa,(Now the regional capital of Coria) in 200 B.C.E, the Roman government sent in more people willing to settle in the land they called Coria, after Scipius Corianus, the founder of the island. The colonists spread through out Coria, and colonized the unsettled lands. Or so they thought. Some Greek refugees had already settled there after the Peloponnesian War. This was the beginning of tensions between Rome and Greece, that would end on 146 B.C.E, when the Romans annexed Greece to allow their colonists through, and gain some more land.

Beginning of the first dynasty

When the Roman Empire fell, the Corians had decided to follow in their old masters footsteps. The proconsul of Coria, Basil Fidel, took power of Coria with the support of the military and aristocrats in 477 C.E. Just three years later, the first test of Corian might took place. Barbarians landed on the northern shores of Coria, just 11 miles from Hadesa. Once Emperor Basil got word of the impending attack on the city, he scrambled a small defense on the defensive walls, but an even stronger force near the palace. Once the barbarians burnt down the wooden walls on the outskirts of Hadesa, the forces retreated to the palace, also known as the Imperium Palace. When the barbarians reached the palace, the bloodshed lasted for 1 hour. It resulted in the barbarians defeat, the creation of the Royal Guard, and the idea of expansion into other lands.

Settlement into the Derikan Mainland, and the Island of Neptune

After being mortally wounded by an arrow in the Battle of Hadesa, Basil's last wish was too send a colonist party too the islands of the west. He did not live to say goodbye to the settlers. The settlers landed on the east coast of Derika, and created a small port city, before more settlers arrived. The new settler group went into the wild, and built Hyperion. Once word spread a growing city protected by natural surroundings, Mokor Fidel, the son of Basil, made the official capital Hyperion, and traveled to Hyperion with his advisers. Once Mokor arrived at Hyperion, the citizens started talking about an island where Neptune washed the lands with a powerful wave. Mokor immediately paid 200 people to settle in the land.

Growth of Hyperion: 1300's-1500's

The sudden growth of Hyperion was a surprise. It was caused due to population growth. The growth led to an economic boom in the city, with many winery's opening up, and mining towns rising up due to the iron veins running through the area. Also due to that, trade flourished with European countries.

The early 1600's were a time of prosperity for the Derikan people. Italy, North Africa, the coast of Spain, the coast of the Balkans, and Malta were under our control, but that only lasted for 50 or so years. The Austro-Hungarians and the Ottomans were hungry for land, Britain was expanding, and the other countries revolted. During the time of colonization, Derika took Libya, and their materials, but was eventually invaded by the Ottomans. During the time of the Two Houses, the Acre family had grown it's aristocratic power, and demanded the Fidel family abdicate, or risk a civil war. The Fidel family naturally refused, and the Derikan Civil War had begun. Fidel had the backing of the servants, but the Acre family had control over the military, and the middle and upper classes. After 4 years, in 1659, the Fidel family was executed in front of the Imperium Palace, officially ending the civil war.

1700's through 1800's

During this time, the Acre family grew extensive popularity. Cassian Acre, the grand-son of Nosod Acre, increased trade with France, a longtime ally. He also reformed much of the underdeveloped army by spending millions of Aureuses to increase production of naval frigates and muskets. When the French Revolution broke out, Derika accepted aristocrats and people seeking refuge from the bloodshed on their streets. Because of this, the third most spoken language is French. Due to the French Revolution, many people took up in arms against the Acre regime. Around 3,000 Derikans, Spanish, and Italians stormed through the streets of Hyperion to capture the Emperor. The Emperor assembled an army of around 6,000 troopers, and they met the rebels in Forots Square. The following bloodbath was the highest mass murder of any Derikan civilians ever in history. Over 1,000 Derikans dead, and over 1,300 injured. After this, many nations, and future revolutionaries started to criticize the Acre regime.

World War One.

With the outbreak of WW1, Derika quickly joined the Entente. Naval defenses prevented any type of landing on the Derikan islands. In 1915, Derika sent reinforcements to Italy to stop all Austrian advancements. During the offensive in Isonzo, Derikan troops held the front lines as the Italians retreated to a more defensive line. Other Derikan involvement included naval support, Gallipoli landings, and a lend-lease program. After the war was over, Derika was paid 2 billion in reparations by Turkey and Austria.

World War Two.

When Poland was invaded, the Imperial Council voted to stay out of the war. Two years later, the British ambassador told Jacabos Acre that the Italians planned to invade Derika with German support. Jacabos then declared war against Italy. Derika tried to land many times on Italian shores, but they could not succeed without American support. Derikan involvement mainly included the Defense of Egypt, Marseilles Landings, and the landings in Italy. When the war in Europe was over, Derika occupied the southern coast of Sicily and the coast of Libya.

Cold War

After World War Two ended, the Eastern Bloc quickly swept through Europe. Jacabos swiftly stated "The Mediterranean will not fall to the evil of communism, not now, not ever." Derika helped the U.S and combined forces in Korea. With the development of nuclear weapons, Derikan scientists quickly got to work, and in 1987, the first Derikan nuclear test ensued. After the Cold War, and the fall of the Eastern Bloc, the mass recruitment drive ended, and not to be in effect for another 200 years.

The 2000's began with new technology, and new forms of attacks. On September 11th, 2001, 2,996 people died following the attacks on the Twin Towers. The Derikan Empire joined the U.S in the 'War on terror' with drone attacks and military equipment. In 2010, an Islamic Extremist group attacked a cathedral on Easter. More than 200 dead, and more injured. This caused the Empire to fully intervene in the Middle East, causing more funding going into military research, and the birth of Acre Industries. In 2022, the United Nations proposed the Nuclear Arms Act, which limited all nations with nuclear power weapons, and nuclear weapons were only to be used on military targets, and not civilian targets. Derika, America, and the United Kingdom were the ones to propose this act, and the first to sign.

After the act was signed and put into place in 2024, imperialist riots start taking place across Europe, taking power in Germany, Italy, and Turkey.
