The Rogue Nation of Daharia is a huge, cultured nation, notable for its ubiquitous missile silos, daily referendums, and stringent health and safety legislation. The hard-nosed population of 508 million Daharians are highly moralistic and fiercely conservative, in the sense that they tend to believe most things should be outlawed. People who have good jobs and work quietly at them are lauded; others are viewed with suspicion.

The medium-sized government juggles the competing demands of Defense, Education, and Administration. It meets to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Varsivae. The average income tax rate is 45.4%, but much higher for the wealthy.

The powerhouse Daharian economy, worth 45.7 trillion Korunas a year, is driven entirely by a combination of government and state-owned industry, with private enterprise illegal. However, for those in the know, there is a slick, highly efficient, broadly diversified black market in Arms Manufacturing, Book Publishing, Uranium Mining, and Automobile Manufacturing. The private sector mostly consists of enterprising ten-year-olds selling lemonade on the sidewalk, but the government is looking at stamping this out. Average income is 89,967 Korunas, and distributed extremely evenly, with little difference between the richest and poorest citizens.

Many are asking why the latest naval vessel is named after Saint Bartholomeus the Many Handed, children prefer to begin their day with push-ups rather than breakfast, town nameplates frequently raise giggles from passing tourists, and the automotive industry soaks up huge government handouts. Crime, especially youth-related, is totally unknown, thanks to a capable police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Daharia's national animal is the Cow, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation.

Daharia is ranked 53,549th in the world and 65th in Institute of Cellulose for Most Scientifically Advanced, scoring 139.25 on the Kurzweil Singularity Index.
