The Confederacy of City States Nation is a gargantuan, efficient nation, ruled by JR Ewing with a fair hand, and notable for its barren, inhospitable landscape, free-roaming dinosaurs, and keen interest in outer space. The hard-nosed, hard-working, democratic, humorless, devout population of 10.381 billion City Staters are effectively ruled by a group of massive corporations, who run for political office and provide their well-off citizens with world-class goods and services. Their poorer citizens, however, are mostly starving to death while being urged to go out and get real jobs. The populace has reasonably extensive civil rights, although these are mostly aimed at allowing them to buy whatever they like.

The minute, corrupt, pro-business government, or what there is of one, juggles the competing demands of Defense, Education, and Industry. It meets to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Reading. Income tax is unheard of.

The frighteningly efficient City States Nationian economy, worth a remarkable 3,916 trillion Lire a year, is driven almost entirely by the private sector, which is broadly diversified and led by the Retail industry, with major contributions from Information Technology, Gambling, and Book Publishing. Average income is an amazing 377,246 Lire, but there is a large disparity between incomes, with the richest 10% of citizens earning 1,833,251 per year while the poor average 44,835, a ratio of 40.9 to 1.

Practising saying 'how now brown cow' is an essential part of holiday planning, wealthy pranksters dump refuse on unsuspecting citizens from up high, the national sporting identity is represented by a talking burger and a singing smartphone, and sleep-deprived officials are known to collapse after late night revision for their examinations. Crime, especially youth-related, is all-pervasive, with the police force struggling against a lack of funding and a high mortality rate. City States Nation's national animal is the Armadillo, which is also the nation's favorite main course, and its national religion is Industrialism.

City States Nation is ranked 65,595th in the world and 2,972nd in the South Pacific for Most Extensive Civil Rights, with 64 Martin Luther King, Jr. Units.
