The Oppressed Peoples of Card Hunt 1 is a huge, orderly nation, renowned for its infamous sell-swords, free-roaming dinosaurs, and punitive income tax rates. The hard-nosed, cynical population of 288 million Card Hunt 1ians are ruled without fear or favor by a psychotic dictator, who outlaws just about everything and refers to the populace as "my little playthings."

The large, moralistic, socially-minded, well-organized government juggles the competing demands of Defense, Law & Order, and Administration. The average income tax rate is 50.2%, and even higher for the wealthy.

The sizeable but stagnant Card Hunt 1ian economy, worth 4.97 trillion Dollars a year, is driven entirely by a combination of government and state-owned industry, with private enterprise illegal. However, for those in the know, there is a slick, highly efficient, fairly diversified black market in Book Publishing, Pizza Delivery, Basket Weaving, and Retail. The private sector mostly consists of enterprising ten-year-olds selling lemonade on the sidewalk, but the government is looking at stamping this out. Average income is 17,242 Dollars, and distributed extremely evenly, with practically no difference between the richest and poorest citizens.

Smiling in public is seen as criminally suspicious behaviour, people seem disproportionately distraught when told a museum has a phones-off policy, it's a hard-knock life for the orphans doing factory work for a pittance, and "To Hell or to Marshland" is a common settler cry directed at native Brasilistanis. Crime is totally unknown, thanks to a very well-funded police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Card Hunt 1's national animal is the Spider.

Card Hunt 1 is ranked 108,933rd in the world and 8th in Card for Most Primitive, scoring -37.57 on the Scary Big Number Scale.
