The New Roman Empire of Bax-Landia is a massive, efficient nation, ruled by Ulysses Caesar with an iron fist, and notable for its free-roaming dinosaurs, zero percent divorce rate, and punitive income tax rates. The hard-nosed, cynical, humorless, devout population of 4.837 billion Romans are kept under strict control by the oppressive government, which measures its success by the nation's GDP and refers to individual citizens as "human resources."

The medium-sized, corrupt, moralistic government is primarily concerned with Defense, although Industry, Education, and Administration are also considered important. It meets to discuss matters of state in the capital city of New Rome. The average income tax rate is 91.9%, and even higher for the wealthy.

The frighteningly efficient Roman economy, worth a remarkable 1,235 trillion Denarius Aureuses a year, is driven entirely by a combination of government and state-owned industry, with private enterprise illegal. However, for those in the know, there is an enormous, deeply entrenched, broadly diversified black market in Arms Manufacturing, Information Technology, Uranium Mining, and Automobile Manufacturing. The private sector mostly consists of enterprising ten-year-olds selling lemonade on the sidewalk, but the government is looking at stamping this out. Average income is an amazing 255,388 Denarius Aureuses, and distributed extremely evenly, with little difference between the richest and poorest citizens.

Debate rages over whether ground fish guts can be spread on fields, the National Archive now covers square miles of warehouses in order to accommodate its new stone tablets system, the government is reining in public spending, and ship captains always order a return to port at the slightest sign of rain. Crime, especially youth-related, is totally unknown, thanks to a capable police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Bax-Landia's national animal is the Pegasus, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to toxic air pollution, and its national religion is Roman Polytheism.

Bax-Landia is ranked 5,759th in the world and 222nd in The North Pacific for Largest Timber Woodchipping Industry, scoring 7,887.62 on the Tasmanian Pulp Environmental Export Index.
