The Dictatorship of Banos is a massive, orderly nation, notable for its state-planned economy, parental licensing program, and infamous sell-swords. The hard-nosed, cynical, humorless, devout population of 2.12 billion Banosians are ruled without fear or favor by a psychotic dictator, who outlaws just about everything and refers to the populace as "my little playthings."

The government — a sprawling, bureaucracy-choked, corrupt, moralistic, socially-minded, well-organized morass — juggles the competing demands of Law & Order, Defense, and Administration. It meets to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Ralco. The average income tax rate is 81.9%, and even higher for the wealthy.

The sizeable but stagnant Banosian economy, worth 15.7 trillion Bristols a year, is driven entirely by a combination of government and state-owned industry, with private enterprise illegal. However, for those in the know, there is a slick, highly efficient, extremely specialized black market in Trout Farming and Woodchip Exports. The private sector mostly consists of enterprising ten-year-olds selling lemonade on the sidewalk, but the government is looking at stamping this out. Average income is 7,407 Bristols, and distributed extremely evenly, with practically no difference between the richest and poorest citizens.

Public nudity is compulsory, adultery has been made a capital offence, Maxtopian villagers starve by the time Banosian officials even file the appropriate paperwork needed to help them, and they say insanity is torturing the same citizens over and over again and expecting a different result. Crime, especially youth-related, is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Banos's national animal is the Lion, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests.

Banos is ranked 229,030th in the world and 2,274th in the Pacific for Largest Timber Woodchipping Industry, scoring 211.63 on the Tasmanian Pulp Environmental Export Index.
