The Federation of Atkemri/A overview (MAJOR WIP)

The Federation of Atkemri more commonly shortened to Atkemri is a multiparty democracy bordered by Morocco to the west and Senegal to the south.

Atkemri is a multiparty democracy comprising of all of West Africa except Morocco. Atkemri has been a world superpower since the end of War World 2 with the defeat of Axis powers and the
decolonization of many parts of Africa done by diplomatic means. Atkemri has been widely recognized as Africa's police.

Etymology

Atkemri was first used in the year 50 AD when the king at the time realized the tribes divided the nation and made one central tribe called Atkemri witch translated to English from Atkemrian means together. The tribe of Atkemri no longer exists but it was chosen as the name due to the unity found in those who had participated in the Atkemrian revolution

The standard way to refer to a citizen of Atkemri is Atkemrian.

History

Atkemri as it is known today was founded in 50 AD under the trade kingdom of Abana, who slowly expanded over the years, before reigning over all of modern day Atkemri except for the Berber areas of Atkemri. These would be conquered in 217AD in the Atkemrian Conquest. When Rome fell the kingdom took the West African coast.

The Kingdom grew acquiring areas of Libya and Chad in the North and all of Cameroon in the south. Trade flourished with Europe and the Middle East and the kingdom grew wealthy. The nation was mostly Solarist, the religion of sky worship chiefly that of the sun., but the Catholic Church began to crack down on allowing trade with Atkemri due to it's non Catholic belief system. In 640 AD in a break from tradition King Akanni decided it would be best to convert to Catholicism and declared it the state religion. Solarists were outraged and the Grand Light, the leader of the Solarist religion started a rebellion lasting from 641-648 killing thousands and leading to the treaty of Yéné allowing for all religions to be respected by the Atkemrian monarchy and

Later in 1521, the House of Bourbon and the house of Icarus married into each other leading to the newest heirs of the kingdom to be French. This caused controversy among the aristocracy and the common public, but there was no aggressive action taken. King Phillipe the first ascended the Atkemrian throne in 1532 and began 'Frenchifying' the Atkemrian populous. King Phillipe encouraged large numbers of French to immigrate to the Algerian coast and moved all Berbers to the Moroccan border paving the way for more French immigration which was unwelcome by Atkemrians and was considered 'a desecration of the Atkemrian bloodline'

More unpopular actions were taken by King Phillipe and his heirs until when in 1782 King Jacques the Demented decided to make French the official language of Atkemri and tried to link the French Monarchy to the Atkemrian line sparking widespread anger and after removing tariffs on French goods the native Atkemrian populous had it and sparked a revolution which ended 5 years later when Republican forces finally managed to dislodge the last of the Royalists from their nation. Learning from the example of Haiti, Atkemri made sure to make the rights of French nationals equal to those of the rights of native Atkemrians. Berbers, however, got the short end of the proverbial stick being moved from their homes to the B.A.T (Berber Autonomous Territory) to make way for more Atkemrian settlers in the areas they inhabited. This was a move which started the long standing tension between Berbers and Atkemrians which have continued to this day.

Atkemri was relatively calm until 1859 when a white rebellion rose up in Algeria and the surrounding region. This action started the 1st Atkemrian civil war which took the lives of over 20,000 Atkemrians and ended on December 22nd 1864 after the last white outpost was overun by the Atkemrian army, but lead to minimal consequences to the rebelling parties as to keep Europeans placated stirring resentment towards whites among the common citizen.

As the years went on Atkemri developed a strong ties with the USA forming a alliance in 1877, this relationship would be weak due to racism at the time. In 1880 Atkemri also formed a relationship with Great Britain. Anti-European sentiment was high at this time as Atkemrians saw the horrors of colonization in Africa and they were almost colony not long before.

But none the less Atkemri joined the allies in World war 1 and sent men to France where many gave up their resentment of Europeans and since many sent letters home to their families the hate of Europeans began to weaken ,but still some resented them and joined the German and Austro-Hungarian armies as mercenaries they were seen to be slightly better than the two colonial powers France and Great Britain. When the war eventually ended Atkemri demanded the destruction of the German state. This demand was denied causing further resentment among some of the upper classes of Atkemri

After the war Germany and Austria could not pay them which was considered the final straw. The old house of Icauaus had saw a opportunity to grab power and had decided to overthrow the government. The first battle took place in 1921 on the first day of the war where in the middle of Holom what would be the Prince of a new Icauaus Atkemri marched in with a army and was beaten and killed as he attempted retreat. Then government forces marched east fighting multiple small skirmishes winning them all,monarchist leaders decided to bunker down in the middle of the Sahara next to their capital Kalosburg. When government forces first encountered this line they were slaughtered by machine gun emplacements and artillery,after most government forces retreated monarchists charged out of their trenches and took 500 prisoner. They were all decapitated with their heads being sent to the government. The government was horrified at this display of barbarism and on the next day placed some artillery emplacements on some nearby sand dunes and began firing causing heavy casualties,these artillery strikes would last for another 4 months before the government sent heavy infantry support along with tanks to assault them. The line broke and the first battle of Kalosburg began. What followed was multiple months of World War 1 style trench warfare combined with massive breakthroughs leading to bloodier battles.

Language
All Atkemrians speak English and Atkemrian. In order to spite the French in 1713 Atkemrians began speaking in english the language of Great Britain the enemy of France. English was picked up by so many Atkemrians it was commonplace to speak it. Now both Atkemrian and English is taught in schools with parents deciding witch is taught first. Most parents pick English and when they speak English they have a English accent of their native language. Nationalists usually pick Atkemrian first giving them a Atkemrian accent when speaking English. Some along the Mauritanian coast still speak French and have French Ascents due to the contact with France for so long.

The majority of Atkemri is African of many differing tribes and ethnicity. There is a large white minority with most of them being French descent. There are also many Asians in Atkemri mostly concentrated in Asia

Government

The government is a multiparty democracy with the tribal Congress being able to make laws and the Tribal Senate serving as a check to the congress being able to Veto bills. The Tribal Assembly is where issues are raised by the common folk which will be taken into Congress where it is discussed if a law should be made and passed. Every law needs the approval of the President. When it comes to electing the President there is a electoral college of 40 electoral votes,5 votes for each tribal district. Whichever candidate gets to 40 wins the elections. Each President can have 5 terms of 2 years meaning at the most a president can stay in office for 10 years.

Infrastructure

Atkemrian infrastructure is very rail based with railroads going to places all over the country. Bullet trains zooming across roadsides are a common site to see. A recent infrastructure program headed by Lucky Wells has added new roads and such across the country. Still rail dominates the country with their being trains to almost all places of the country.

Energy
Atkemri is currently seeing a struggle between privately owned solar power and government owned Nuclear energy and other forms of energy. Currently the country runs on 60% nuclear energy,20% other forms of energy,10% solar
