Gardiens de l'Aube - The Imperial Praetorian Guard

The Gardiens de l'Aube serve as the Imperial Praetorian Guard to the Argorinthian Royal Family. Formerly the personal guard of House Devereaux-Avignon, the Gardiens de l'Aube (keepers of the Dawn) were promoted to the role of Imperial Praetorian Guard with the coronation of Her Royal Excellency, High Queen Elodie Devereaux-Aquila, and tasked with the sole purpose of guarding and protecting the High Queen and her parents, Duke Frederik and Duchess Clarissa, from all threats, domestic or foreign. This task was later expanded to include His Royal Excellency, High King Timothy Do-Aquila, and his parents, Duke Hugh Tiberius and Duchess Eileithya, on the eve of their marriage, and Her Royal Highness, Princess Elise de Devereaux-Aquila, on the day of her birth. The Gardiens de l'Aube are lead by Commandant Corvo "Halcyon" Attano-Kaldwin and his daughter, Lieutenant Emily Attano-Kaldwin. Commandant Corvo has lead Le Gardiens de l'Aube and protected House Devereux-Avignon since 1988 as repayment for Duke Frederik's actions during the Dunwall campaign of the Empire of Isle Conflict. Argorinthian forces lead by Duke Frederik helped Commandant Corvo avenge the assasination of his wife, Empress Jessamine I, rescue his daughter, Emily, and evacuate the remaining citizens of the Isles before the Plague and Civil War fractured and destroyed the empire. After the end of the empire of Isle Conflict, Argorinthia accepted the Isle refugees with open arms and Duke Frederik personally invited Attano-Kaldwin to stay at his home until the Commandant's could be built. The Commandant then swore an oath that he and his family would forever protect and defend Argorinthia and House Devereaux-Avignon from any harm. As an extremely skilled assassin and royal protector for the Empress before her passing, Commandant Attano-Kaldwin was inducted into the Argorinthian espionage and intelligence community where he served with distinction until he retired and joined the personal guard of House Devereaux-Avignon. His daughter, the Lieutenant, grew up alongside Frederik's daughter, Elodie, and became extremely close friends with her and the son of Duke Hugh Tiberius, another veteran Argorinthian leader during the Dunwall campaign, Timothy. She followed in her father's footsteps and became as adept in combat and espionage as he. She enlisted at age 16 into the Argorinthian Armed Forces Academy and gained top marks and distinctions. Afterwards, she served under her father in the intelligence community and followed him into Le Gardiens de l'Aube.
