Royal Engagment of Queen Elodie the Munificent and the Grand Duke Timothy of Sparthenia

Long time childhood friends Her Majesty, Queen Elodie the Magnificent (age 21) and His Excellency, Grand Duke Timothy of Sparthenia (age 21) have announced their engagement on August 31st. This marriage will unite and cement the alliance of the two largest, oldest, and most powerful houses in Argorinthia, House Devereaux-Avignon (Her Majesty) and House Do-Aquila (His Excellency). Both Houses have enjoyed strong relations and peace in recent years, but have a history of bloodshed. House Devereaux-Avignon led the invading Franco-Scandinavian La Grande Armée against the newly formed Argorinthian Army led by House Do-Aquila in the War of Greek Succession. However, any animosity ended with the war and relations have stabilized with the white peace. The engagement came at no suprise as the Grand Duke has been publicly courting the Queen for several years and they are rumored to have secretly rendezvoused many times before. The marriage came at a time of uncertainty over succession of the throne and legitimacy of a lone Franco-Scandinavian matriarchal rule. Grand Duke Timothy is expected to be crowned king during the wedding on September 5th and rule side by side with his beloved, Queen Elodie the Munificent.
