History

In 1300 B.C. Trojan & Jewish refugees fled their native lands by sea, hoping to find safe harbor away from Greece. The seafaring refugees navigated their way to The Archipelago of Akritolia, where they came to build the successor state to Troy, The Imperium of Syagros. Also known as "The Syanith."The Basileus Pandarus I founded the city of Hektor, as a city-state successor of Troy. From 1300 B.C. to 1100 B.C. The Syagrosian Empire would reside on the Western half of the Isle of Akritolia major, the largest of the islands in the island chain, with the majority of Trojans living in the capital city of Hektor. In 1099 B.C. Basileus Turnus VIII broke ground on the city of Triton, on the Isle of Terranabul, the third largest island in the Archipelago of thirty-nine islands. Originally constructed as a military outpost meant to warn the city of Triton should Athenian warships attack the Empire, the outpost grew into a city, eventually becoming the capital of the Empire when it was moved there by Basileus Kalesius III in 1304 A.D. for easier trade with Venice as the city of Hektor possesses no port, a purposeful choice of Basileus Pandarus I to avoid the Greek's. In 1000 B.C. after 300 years of residing on the Western half of the Isle of Akritolia major, the city of Memnonica was founded and Syagros absorbed the native JůrdanŪt people into the Empire.

Pictured: The Empire of Great Hekktorium at its greatest extent, under Basileus Turnus VIII, in 900 B.C. at its greatest extent, the Empire would not only come to retake Troy, but rule over all of Egypt, Babylon and the various Greek city states. The Empire of the Trojan refugee's would sponsor the Arts and Pre-Aristotelian Sciences, built roads that would last as long as Romeís in later years and established laws that all of Western law can claim as its predecessor. Truly, the greatest ancient civilization of ancient Europe before Rome and one of the greatest civilizations of all time and all places.

Pictured: The Cyric reliefs, a gift from Emperor Cyrus I of Persia given to the nation in the year 545 B.C. to celebrate his friendship with Basileus Vulcan VI of Syagros. The reliefs depict the last battle of Troy, but in the reliefs, Troy is depicted as crushing the Greek forces and burning the Trojan horse, with the last relief in the set displaying Crown Prince Hector I slaying King Menelaus of Sparta. Persia proved to be a lasting ally to Syagros until Muslim rule. The reliefs are displayed the Trojan Museum of Natural Arts & Histories.

A Phoenician Cuneiform tablet displayed in the Trojan Museum of Natural Arts & Histories that was discovered in ruins around the location of ancient Troy, in Western Turkey in 1832. Nicknamed the "Parisician Tablet." it is held up as the definitive proof of Syagros's origins as the successor state to Troy and is considered to be the greatest archaeological find of the late 1st millennium.

While many, from the Roman Empire to Great Britain & even the United States of America have made some claim to descent from Troy, writing on the "Pariscian Tablet" found in Western Turkey in 1832 documents the Basileus Pandarus I's purchasing of a large Phoenician Bireme ship from the city Tyre. Genetics test on a total of 10,000 Syagrosians, Greeks, Turks, & Syrians in 2002 in a project called "Genomic Horse." found close genetic relations, with a clear ancestry from Anatolia emerging. In 2003, a similar project titled "The Jerusalem Project." did a similar study of 2,300 Jews from across Israel & Syagros, as well as Palestinians, finding that the Jewish population of Syagros had originally lived in ancient Israel, leading some Jews in the nation to return to Israel ending their time in exile away from Israel after 3,000 years, but with the vast majority choosing to stay, offering Israel their respect, but calling Syagros their home.

The lighthouse of Priam was one of the first buildings constructed by the Trojan refugees, in 1298 B.C. Despite this, the lighthouse is still in use and has weathered hundreds of storms, owing to the legendary build quality of its engineers.

Since ancient times, the Isles rivalled China and Phoenicia for its wealth. While China had silk, and Phoenicia had Purple dye, Troy's successor state had the Sunset Orchid, a flower prized for its beauty, medicinal properties, and especially for its roots that could be ground up into a spice, "Orchism" that Pope Pius IX described as having "A taste like none other." The nation grew rich off of the Orchid, but itís worth made the nation a particular prize to conquer for other powers. In the year 447 B.C. Syagros would be conquered by the Roman Republic seeking the wealth and resources of the nation. On the eve of 196 A.D., the residents of the then Roman Province of Akritolia major & minor demanded independence from the Roman Empire. The residents successfully defended themselves on the island of Terrananabul against the old Trojan built wall which still stands at what is called the Battle for L'Quiiae Wall against the 1st Roman Legion, forcing the Roman General Iaeius Gaius to surrender, signing the Treaty of Crete. The Isles would flourish for the next two hundred and twenty-two years under the First Republic. In the last decade of the 3rd century, Philosophers of the Alithist "True" school of thought began openly suggesting that Rome had corrupted the nation and that Syagros culture was only rightly ordered towards monarchy. By 417 A.D. the Alithist's had convinced the culture of the virtues of monarchy, and the people installed Basileus Glauconian –ardanexia III as the head of state, closing the first chapter in the nation's wrestling between Republicanism & Monarchism without bloodshed.

From 417 A.D. onward to the age of exploration, the nation stood front and centre as a hub of commerce, philosophy, the arts, architecture, mathematics, and later the sciences. While the nation remained on the fringes of the known world, its location did allow it to operate as a stop for those trading between the Mediterranean states and Northern Europe, and its resources and wise governance allowed for the Trojan successor state to attract the attention of the world none the less.

In the year 998 A.D. Then reigning Basileus Kalesius –ardanexia III commissioned the Norwegian captain, Leif Erikkson to locate a trade route from Syagros to China. The Basileus asked Captain Erikkson to locate the best crew he could, telling him to spare no expense. Over a round of mead, Erikkson convinced two ships worth of Burkish Seamen & women from the Burkish colony of the Nyrheim to go on the trip with him, promising them gold & the Basileus's word to trade with them for the supplies that their young colony desperately needed. Needing ships and a first mate, Captain Erikkson employed the help of Captain Sorfanos Zellaiaexi, a Trojan in service to the Basileus, and bought two ships of Venetian origin: The San Petra & San Felicity. In 999 A.D. the San Petra & San Felicity set sail from the port of Aenenth, Syagros with Captain Erikkson in charge of the San Felicity & Captain Sorfanos in control of the San Petra. They would discover what is now known as Quebec, Canada in 1000 A.D. which Captain Erikkson called "Vinland" and which is still referred to as such in Empire of Great Hekktorium states of The Burke Islands, AquilaJordyn, Vostria and Arstassigon.

A painting of Captain Sorfanos and his crew landing near Mississippi to greet the Mississippian King.

Captain Erikkson, satisfied with the discovery of Vinland, informed Captain Sorfanos Zellaiaexi that he would be heading for Greenland to resupply, then heading back to Syagros to tell the Basileus. However, Captain Sorfanos was set on finding a route to China, and if nothing else, mapping the newly found continent. Captain Erikkson bid him good fortune, and they parted ways. Over the course of the next five years, Captain Sorfanos & his crew would map the new continents and would discover a sea route to China. Along the way, they would make contact with the Mississippians, the Maya, the Wari Empire, the Tiwanaku Empire and the Inuit. After stocking up on goods from China, Captain Sorfanos and his crew of Burkish sailors made the long trek around India & Africa, up to Syagros, becoming the first crew to ever make a trans-oceanic journey. When he went before the Basileus five years after his trip began, standing before the throne, Captain Sorfanos was asked by his stoicness what the new land should be called. The Captain admitted then he had no name, as he had never thought of one. The Basileus Kalesius –ardanexia III stood up and decreed that from that day forward, the two continents that Sorfanos mapped should be known as The Sorffica's after Sorfanos. Sorficca remains the word for The America's in the Trojan tongue.

In 1201 A.D. Syagros entered into a League with the Venetian Republic & The Nyrheimic Jarls of what is now Northern The Burke Islands. Wanting to grow closer to the Venetians & their wealth, the Basileus Kalesius III –ardanexia in 1157 A.D. had allowed the Doge of Venice to construct a trade port outside of Poseipolis. In 1201, the Venetians & Trojan governments undertook a joint endeavor of expanding the city of Memnonica to serve as a major center of whaling & shipbuilding, while Venetian merchants & craftsmen began to settle in the city of Poseipolis, where almost all trade coming in not just from the Republic of Venice, but all other Italian republics & Mediterranean states had to stop at to stock up on supplies, send goods further into the country bound for market, or to make sure their vessels were seaworthy, sending them for maintenance to Memnonica. For the Nyrheim, a League with the Venetians offered greater access to central Europe & better shipbuilding techniques and from Syagros, a free exchange of ideas, commodities & people, and close friends. For the Venetians & Syagrots, The Nyrheim acted as wardens of the Venetians trading routes, and formidable front-line warriors in defence of the League against mainland Europe. In 1458, the Nyrheim, unable to retain relations with the League, formally left the League.

13th century Jade vase, of Trojan origin. This vase, which normally resides in the Imperial court, is just one piece of evidence of the Sino-Trojan trade & cultural exchange. Silk, Jade, Orchism, Gold, Marble, Purple dye, Amber, and Ivory all were bought and sold in Syagros, and artists took advantage. Many Artists learned from Chinese Jade artist masters and were inspired by the Chinese Empire in their artwork.

At the height of the league in the 1400s, the nation was trading with so many countries, that the historian & 14th-century merchant of Memnonica, Pyraechmes Eleaiaexi said of 14th-century Memnonica "Memnonica is a city of 100 tongues." Although it is accurate to say that much trade came from many different nations to Memnonica, three stand out about the others as the biggest trading partners with Syagros: Ming dynasty China, the Vijaynagar Empire in India, and the Empire of Mali.

By the 15th century, after 300 years of the Venito-Trojan-Nyrheimish league, the Venetians & Trojans had both grown enormously wealthy from their beneficial relationship and had grown close culturally. The league would come to a violent end in 1532 when King Henry VIII invaded Syagros. For nearly a century, Syagros had threatened England's domination of Western Europe. Early in the 14th century, Syagros had cemented itself as a French aligned power when Basileus Glauconian –ardanexia IV married the eldest daughter of King Charles VII of France, Princess Radegonde of house Valois. Seeing the nation as a threat, Henry VIII wanted to weaken Syagros by installing Basileus Glauconian –ardanexia IV's young son, using the child like a puppet for England.

A portrait of Patrician Bartolomeo Gradenigo in L'Quillae Lighthouse, the Doge of Venice during the Battle for The Beors. The Patrician marched his troops for days back and forth between the cities of Hektor & Aenenth, never quite making the journey all the way to Aenenth, a city which the King of England intended to destroy in a march now known as 'The March Of Foxes' for the Patrician managing to deceive the King's army multiple times, so as to evade them and turn both armies right back around on the road without ever reaching Aenenth. This distraction gave the city of Aenenth time to evacuate ahead of the Kings army. Although the English would march on the city to burn it after finally defeating the Venetians at the 'Battle for The Beors' and although much of the historic city was lost, the people were saved, angering the King and letting the city be refounded another day. The painting hangs at the entrance to the Aenenthian town hall.

While King Henry VIII successfully overthrew Basileus Glauconian –ardanexia IV, he failed to install the Basileus's infant son, as the Pope refused to accept the child as monarch under the conditions. Instead, in a fit of rage, the English King appointed a First Minister to rule the country, creating a Republican-form of government. From 1532 to 1534, the nation would remain independent under the Second Republic, a Republic now known as 'The Interim Republic'. In 1534, after founding the Anglican sect King Henry VIII of England would colonize the island, keeping the Republican First Minister as head of the nation under his command. The nation would continue to elect her own First Ministers, but they would grow reliant on funding from Windsor and ever more subservient to the English Crown.

In 1560 A.D. Queen Elizabeth I of England would persecute the nations Jewish population, culminating in the Sanguine Wall Tragedy, where Tritonian Catholic and Jewish parents, trying to defend Jewish children from being enslaved, famously shouted at the Queen's troops: "We stand like a wall together, against you. No further shall you go Pharaoh." Queen Elizabeth I would come to be seen as the great persecutor of Syagros, nicknamed "The Black Queen", "Satan's Wife." and famously, "Bloody Bess" the latter-most being the subject of much folklore since her unpopular reign.

Pictured: A Sunset Orchid, the flower which the British fought terribly to have control over. While there are thousands of varieties of Orchids across the world, only the Sunset Orchid is known to have medicinal & culinary applications. Scientists theorize that the Orchids particularly valuable properties have to do with the rich, volcanic topsoil that it roots in along the base of the Beor mountains. The rich nutrients of the soil make food seasoned with the spice made from its roots, Orchism, particularly nutritious, as well as in Orchism-Root Tea.

In the year 1783, after centuries of resisting British rule, from purposefully burning tea crop meant for England, sending missionaries to Great Britain who would reconvert tens of thousands there to Catholic Christianity and sinking the British royal navies flagship, King George III of England would, as part of the peace of Paris signed between him & The Burke Islands willing sign away his control of Syagros alongside his control of the aforementioned nation. According to the observing French King Louis XVI, "He practically begged with the Burke & American delegation to take them, the Trojans. As far as I'm concerned, England went into the negotiations with only one demand: Syagros would not be retained under the British crown." The peace of Paris gave birth to the Second Republic. While the nation would forgive the English people, with Great Britain being the most beloved of all the nation's allies, the scars left over from the reign of "Bloody Bess" live on as a testament to the terror of the era. On December 8th, on the feast day of the Immaculate Conception, while the 13 American colonies began their young Republic, Syagros rejected both foreign monarchs and Republican government, choosing to crown Basilissa Antigone –ardanexia I, the first sovereign monarch of Syagros since her ancestors Basileus Glaucon –ardanexia IV's murder at the hands of the English.

A portrait of Basilissa Radegonde from the French King Louis XVI, which was given to the nation by him as a present from France, celebrating Syagros's independence from Great Britain that hangs in the Castle Sarpedon. France has been a constant friend to the nation since 1447 when Basileus Glauconian –ardanexia IV married the then Princess Radegonde, the daughter of King Charles VII of France.

In the year 1805 A.D. The Basilissa Caitha –ardanexia II ordered the invasion of Morocco, renaming the country "The August Duchy of Mauretania." A year later, her stoicness shocked Europe by invading Portugal, taking it and its colonies of Angola, Timor, Sierra Leone, Mozambique, and Cape Verde as the second conquest, to be followed by many, of an Imperialist Syagros.

In 1810, Basilissa Caitha –ardanexia II set her eyes on having Central Asia & The Middle East. In 1810, the nation would invade Iran & Afghanistan, fusing the two together and naming the new conquest "The August Duchy of Persia." In 1822, both Tajikistan & Kyrgyzstan would find themselves under Trojan rule and added on to the August Duchy of Persia after being bought from the U.S.S.R. In 1824, the nation would march into Yemen, Oman, Qatar, Kuwait, and middle Saudi Arabia, standing victorious over the native rulers there. The territories were named "The August Duchy of Arabia." and "The August Duchy of Cuvaitum & Quataria." In 1834, the Empire would make the long independent nation of Ethiopia yet another conquest, naming it the "August Duchy of Ethiopia."

The year 1840 is remembered in Syagros as "The Black Year." In the first months of 1840, the growing Empire of Great Hekktorium invaded the North Hess Isles, an island chain discovered by Trojans centuries ago that was by that time, the sovereign territory of The Burke Islands. The North Hess Isles were seen as valuable not just for having strategic resources, with plenty of Gold & Petroleum, but also as the rightful land of Syagros. Rather than taking the North Hess Isles as another August Duchy, the Isles were swiftly made the province of the North Hess Isles and brought into the borders of the country of Syagros, fully integrated into the country.

In the middle of 1840, the nation stormed into China from the south china sea, swallowing up China & Korea soon after making another negotiation with the Soviets to buy Mongolia & Manchuria. China & Mongolia were made the "August Duchy of Mongolia.", "The August Duchy of China." and "The August Duchy of Tibet." with Tibet retaining greater autonomy under Imperial rule while Korea was made a Satrapy or protectorate of the Empire, under the control of the Joseon dynasty, but at the whims & services of Basilissa Caitha –ardanexia II. By late 1840, the Imperial authorities had grown tired of near-weekly attacks from the Burkish mainland & Arstassigon on the North Hess Isles. At the order of the Basilissa, Arstassigon & the mainland of the Burkish Isles were invaded, joined together and renamed "The August Duchy of North Syagros." a poignant decision, one that put a lance right into the heart of the proud Burkish & Arstassi peoples. The taking of China, The Burkish Islands and Arstassigon was the crowning achievement of Imperialist Syagros to Basilissa Caitha II.

Pictured: The Treaty Party of Fontaine, a painting by the 18th-century artist, Okoth Aeriaexi which hangs in the art gallery of Withranais College, Turnoch. The Treaty of Fontaine, signed by the Legate Euphorbus Floivaexi of the 2nd Legion & Mayor Jean Caron of Fontaine is largely regarded as one of the most regressive, punishing, and cruel treaty's ever signed in late first millennium politics, as the treaty required all those in Burkish positions of power to be executed, forbade Burkes & Arstassi from holding any future positions of power, even lowly ones, such as the position of city clerk. The treaty also insisted that all homes built under Imperial rule be done in a "Civilized style." or rather, a Trojan style and forbade the reading or printing of Burkish language texts until 1849, when the Crown Prince, Basileus Vulcan –ardanexia XIX was given the Burkish epic: "Fleinnohof" as a present on his birthday and according to sources he became so enamored with the Burkish Epic that upon finishing reading it, ran to the throne room and visibly wept before his mother to "Let the people read their books." Basileus Vulcan –ardanexia XIX is held up as a prime example of the sympathy that many Trojans felt for the nation's conquered populous, a sympathy which was more often than not, as it was etched on the walls of many Burkish pubs, a "Vain Sympathy." The abbreviation "V.S." is still used in some former colonies of Great Hekktorium as a curse word that denotes extreme disbelief over something said. While the Crown Prince escaped being called "Vainly Sympathetic." coming to be seen as a fair and inclusive ruler, many Syagrot politicians & authorities did not. Popularly called "The Cheese-Box Treaty." The Treaty of Fontaine was quickly penned by Legate Euphorbus on top of a cheese box in the middle of Bousquet Avenue in Fontaine, outlining all of the demands of Syagros. Mayor Jean Caron signed the treaty with a saber held to his neck. That same saber would immediately execute him afterwards, in obedience to the orders of the Treaty he was forced to sign right after Legate Euphorbus, not even giving the Mayor enough time to lift his pen off of the parchment, staining the treaty with his blood.

By 1842, the Empire controlled much of central & East Asia, all of the middle Atlantic states and portions of Africa. However, the Empire continued to expand relentlessly. In 1842, Thailand was taken as the latest prize for Great Hekktorium, followed shortly by Brunei, Nepal and Bhutan.

In the early months of 1850, Syagros conquered southern Greece & Bulgaria and in late 1850, it would take the area known as "The Troad." or north-west Turkey from the Ottoman Empire. While China, Thailand, Ethiopia, and Persia all represented far larger prizes, the taking of The Troad & Greece brought the national pride to an all-time high. The August Duchy of Old Troy & Greece did not produce nearly as much for Syagros as its African or Asian colonies monetarily, but they represented the completion of an over 3000-year-old vendetta against Greece, and a 3000-year-old desire to finally retake the Trojan homeland. In 1850, it was not Greece who ruled over Troy, but Troy who ruled over Greece and in 1851, it was not Troy being sacked by the Greeks, but Athens being sacked by Troy. At the height of the fervor in Athens, when the Trojan troops were prepared to load Athenian children up into train cars away from the city & burn it, starting first with the obliteration of the Parthenon, only the orders of the Basilissa received by a late telegram saved Athens from absolute destruction. It is her total control of the situation & the empire's fate that has led the period in Syagros's history from the 1800's to the early 20th century to be called "The Caithanic Age."

Historians have struggled to explain Caithanic Syagros. On one hand, the nation colonized what is now twenty-seven sovereign countries, and waged numerous wars with the Ottoman Empire. Yet, despite this, Imperialist Syagros acted unlike all other Imperialist powers. Thanks to the rule of Syagros, slavery was brought to keel in Trojan controlled lands, the nation avoided pitting ethnically diverse populations against each other, roads, rails, hospitals, schools, and factories were built. By all accounts, Syagros helped industrialize the places it controlled. Religious liberty was ensured for the first time for Zoroastrian, Christian, Muslim, Hindu, Animist, and Buddhist minorities. The Troad in particular enjoyed an economic boom under Imperial rule, and the consensus among both Chinese & Mongolian modern historians is that "Trojan rule, on the whole, helped the colonized lands to develop and improve the quality of life for the population." Unlike in other European colonies, private companies akin to the British East India company such as the Trojan South Persian Company were not allowed to take advantage of the conquered populations and a minimum wage was enforced.

The nation took a hefty cut of the resources mined, manufactured, and farmed in the nations it controlled, not to mention money collected from taxes by the "August Dukes." who ran the conquered lands, who are sometimes called "Gold Barons." for their inopportune & sure tax collection. Trojan rule wasn't loving, but it wasn't racist, and it was both beneficial & some would say, just, with all conquered people's given Trojan citizenship, drastically improving their rights in the Empire. Therefore, dissecting why Caithanic Syagros conquered so much land in the 1800s and yet didn't, like other European powers, simply pillage the land for their own needs with no care for the native populous, has been difficult for Historians. The modern consensus is that Caithanic Syagros enjoyed so much success because of its powerful mercantile economy. Syagros's numerous trade agreements opened the coffers of Europe to its disposal, but not the petroleum, timber & metals an industrializing nation wanted. Syagros conquered the land it did for economic reasons, and to grow its military, but Trojan sympathy for the conquered foreigners kept genocides & rampant abuse from happening and Basilissa Caitha's own writings reveal she thought of herself as "Basilissa Of All Peoples." for the Basilissa, the conquered lands were serving the needs of the Empire, they weren't outside of the Empire, but within it and so, in her mind, while it was her right to take the resources of the conquered lands, she had a duty to protect the people and improve their lives. This has caused some to describe her rule as a sort of "Benign Tyranny."

Above: Jesuit Seminarians in China, whose work was both sanctioned & protected by Imperial authorities. While those colonized by Syagros had conflicted but often negative opinions of the Imperial government, the Catholic Church became beloved in many countries controlled by Syagros for protecting native communities from the often-strict punishment of the August Dukes, and the faith became very popularly practiced. Early estimates suggest that in Imperialist China, roughly half of the whole population were baptized Catholic Christians by 1890. However, more accurate estimates place this figure at a still impressive figure of 10-15 percent before Communist rule.

In the year 1900, on January 23rd, Basilissa Caitha passed away. Her heir & son, Basileus Vulcan –ardanexia XIX, the man known for years as "The Boy Who Cried Over A Book." In 1901, the Basileus renamed his title in The Burke Islands and Arstassigon from "The Most August Duchy of North Syagros." to "The Most August Duchy of The Burcaean Islands & Arstassigon." His stoicness also made reforms to ensure that citizens in the colonies could more easily report abuse by the "Gold Barons." to the Imperial government.

In 1914, Great Hekktorium chose to remain an observer state for World War I, in an effort to maintain positive relations with the Austrio-Hungarian crown despite favoring the allies.

Pictured: Night Legion III, in their operations center out of Athens. Night legion III was an all-Angolese Espionage force tasked with obtaining information on the whereabouts of Ottoman & Austrio-Hungarian troops during World War I. Trained members of the Order of Saint Joshua, the Night Legions were so famous during World War I that Allied soldiers on the Eastern front had a saying: "If a man stirs at night, does God know? He does if the Nighters work for him." According to some estimates, the III legion alone saved 100,000+ lives by avoiding costly confrontations with the enemy. For the first two years of the war from 1914-1916, the nation avoided direct conflict with the central powers or announcing their involvement in the war, instead preferring to rely solely on their adept Night Legions, but in 1916, that came to a halt when Ottoman soldiers, after defeating the British at Gallipolli, ran amok across the country side of The Troad, in an event called "Enver's March Of Imbeciles." named for the Ottoman dictator, Enver Pasha. It was Gallipolli that convinced the nation that it needed to enter the war and ensure the security of its land. The response of the Basileus was stark, after declaring war on the central powers, starting with the Ottoman Empire, a massive force was raised in the Sea of Marmara outside of Constantinople, which on February of 1917, forced the Ottoman forces to withdraw from East Thrace, the European portion of Turkey. Basileus Vulcan XIX famously said of the event: "The Byzantines were cheering in their graves." for the first time since its conquering in 1453, the "New Rome" Constantinople was in Christian hands.

In 1918, Syagros signed the Treaty of Versailles, ending the war, with much gained: the whole of Turkey came under its mandate. Despite this, Syagros is also seen as the most sympathetic to the Central Powers. It cautiously agreed to the strict military ban for Germany, and objected to the partitioning of Hungary strongly, maintaining that splitting Hungary & Austria was enough. Basileus Vulcan XIX tempered the other allies, and tried to push for the signers to treat Austrio-Hungary & Germany fairly, though he had less sympathy with the Ottomans, and convinced the other allies that a mandate was needed in the Ottoman Empire due to the case of the Armenian genocide.

Pictured: One of the first Armenian refugee families rescued from Turkey that chose to settle in Syagros, posing for a photo-op used in government records to document the successes of the Castle. After the battle of Constantinople, Trojan forces discovered around 300 hundred Armenian families seeking refuge from the Ottomans, being victims of the Armenian genocide. Basileus Vulcan –ardanexia XIX welcomed all of the families into the nation, including one into his own home: Prince Patrician Arman –ardanexia was one of many orphan children welcomed into the arms of a Trojan family, in his case, the Imperial family. The Basileus's early lobbying for retribution over the Armenian genocide and his raising awareness of it earned him so much respect from Armenians, that the Catholicos of All Armenians George V, the Patriarch of the Apostolic Armenian church bestowed upon him and his descendants the honor of "Brother Of Armenia."

On December 16th, 1920, Basileus Vulcan –ardanexia XIX ordered all Imperial Legions stationed in The Burke Islands and Arstassigon to leave both nations. Over the course of the year, he worked with local leaders in both countries to draft constitutions and oversaw the transfer of power from Trojan hands to native hands. On February 8th, 1921, at 8 A.M. AZOT Our Elders Wall, the flag of Troy, was taken down from the front of the Burkish & Arstassigonian capital buildings. In justifying the move, Basileus Vulcan –ardanexia XIX wrote in a letter to the nation: "I will not rule two peoples who do not want to be ruled by me who's land was invaded over six blasted rocks."

Pictured: Troy in 1921. Troy flourished early on due to Imperial investment, but also due to a prevailing doctrine of the time: "Historic Destiny." Operating similarly to manifest destiny in the U.S.A, Trojans volunteered to move to the largely bare Troad, on the belief that it was their destiny to return there and succeed. Many early movers had limited success in the old country, but due to their determination, Troy flourished from a constant source of fresh labour.

By the year 1928, the nation of Syagros was incredibly diverse, with several dozen ethnicities represented in some proportion in the nation. That year, the Basileus's wife, Basilissa Karoline –ardanexia, Princess of Norway, visited the United States on a diplomatic visit. While staying in New Orleans, Louisiana, she was stunned during a dining experience at the Cafe Du Monde there when a patron, according to her: "Swore in the most unbecoming of words to the black waiter who was serving the oaf, just because he dropped the man's coffee. The waiter apologized and offered a fresh coffee, but that didn't matter to him, he then proceeded to call the waiter a word beginning with N I had never heard before in my life. When I asked my aide what the word meant, they told me it meant worthless slave." Her Stoicness, shaken by the experience, voiced her opinion to the Basileus that while Syagros might be a more cosmopolitan place, she thought that they had to do everything they could to ease the burden of minorities in the nation. His stoicness, stunned by what his wife told him, proceeded to pass a series of a dozen laws protecting minority races from discrimination and social programs aimed at improving the living standards of the disadvantaged races in the country. While Syagros had a history of harmony between the races, his series of laws, now called "The 10 Commandments Of Good Decency." were held up years later by United States civil rights activists like Martin Luther King Jr. who spoke of how Syagros was a better, stronger country because of the laws.

On September the 1st, 1939, Syagros declared war on the Third Reich of Germany, two days before Great Britain & France. The Basileus mobilized troops and made preparations to land on the beaches of Varna, Bulgaria, with the intention of making a dangerous & daring march through Romania, intended to liberate Hungary, Slovakia, and Poland. Called "The March of Fools." the march route, though fraught with danger, was intended to liberate all of the concentration camps in Eastern Europe & starve Hitler of his Eastern European resources. If the march were to be successful, the Basileus thought, Hitler would be unable to harm the entirety of Eastern Europe's Jewish population, and Hitler would quickly have to reconcile with the Soviets & Trojans at his doorstep. Unfortunately, the daring plan never saw the light of day. On August 4th, 1939 "Exile Day." The Burkish Empire, which ruled The Burke Islands launched a massive attack on Syagros. By August 12th, the Basileus was forced into exile, as was most of the population of the capital, Triton. While Syagros lost its homeland, it retained its colonies. For the first time in 3239 years, the Trojan emperor would rule from the same throne that Basileus Priam I ruled from. Syagros's capitol moved to Troy.

Pictured: Tessa Sygigoneexia, Penthesilea Roassanaexi, and Maissana Nikeexi, all of whom were awarded the Basilissa Maissana –ardanexia IX medal for honor & bravery by Basileus Vulcan –ardanexia XIX after World War II. The three were members of a Trojan Lady's guild based out of Deiphobica, Syagros. During the Burkish occupation of Syagros, women were forbidden from working by Jarl Ingmar Fellson, the Governor of the island during Burkish rule. He advised the women: "Trojan women have no need to leave the home. If you need something else to do, maybe join a Church ladyís guild and discuss the latest fashion." Many women of Syagros took his advice to heart, forming Ladies Guilds across the nation. However, the ladyís guild of occupied Syagros didn't discuss fashion. While the men worked in the factories, the women of the Ladies Guilds engaged in guerrilla warfare against the Burkish occupiers, wrecking supply trains and slowing down the armyís movements. The Lady Guilds were so successful, some of them managed to rid a number of the small towns and cities from Burkish rule, by driving out the army from their sheer tenacity.

On his annual Imperial speech during the nationís new year of Eshnur on January 1st, 1940, Basileus Vulcan –ardanexia XIX, from the top of the "Last wall" left over from Troy, stood before a nation whose spirit had been shattered, that sought justice and the return of their beloved Archipelago. In his landmark speech, the Basileus said before the many races of his Empire: "I, as you all do, weep for Syagros. But not for our beloved Islands, that Archipelago of emerald green mountains, turquoise blue sea, and sunset yellow Orchids. When the Spartans came and destroyed our home, Pandarus, son of Priam, did not weep over the land! He didn't weep over the loss of the city! He wept over the loss of his brother Hector by the insolence of Paris! I see many people before me, many different faces. Those from this place, but also those who are Thai, Chinese, Mongol, Timurian, Angolan, Moroccan, Portuguese, Turk, Greek, Bulgar, and I look especially at the faces of those who hail from Israel, who indeed, even now, Adolf Hitler & the pretender Cormier of The Burke Islands thirst for right now, and who's flock even now is being led to a holocaust not for the glory of the God of Jacob, but for the God of Satan! Satan is Hitler's God!

I know how you all wonder how we can call ourselves a nation. You wondered it before the loss of the Archipelago, but you wonder it even more now. Let me tell you now: Troy is not an Island. Troy is not a race, and Troy is not even a city! Do you hear me! Our ancestors who wandered the sea, and indeed they are all our ancestors of the heart, would not have survived if they did not welcome friends to the city of Hektor! Troy is eternal! Troy is forever! Troy cannot be slain by Hitler, Mussolini, Franco, or least of all the pretender King Cormier! Menelaus's city is no more! Menelaus is dead! Sparta is not the unconquerable people! Troy is! So do not worry about our land, do not worry whether we can be a people. For we will recover our land, and we are a people now, more than ever.

But right now, across that strait of water North of us, across the Balkan lands, land of the Slavs, and the land of the Magyars stands an abominable tower of Babel built to Satan, Auschwitz-Birkenau. Right now, as our agents have told us, men, women, children, rabbis and priests, deacons & bishops too are being killed! My people! What makes us a people is not our city, our land, or anything that normal men care about. We are not normal men and women. We are Troy! We are Legion! We are God's! What makes us Trojan, is that we will fight to the bloody end against the wicked!

Do you see this horse behind me! Do you see it behind this wall I stand on, this massive wooden horse!? Homer called this the Trojan horse. The stories that Hitler & Cormier read say that this horse destroyed us! Troy! Do you know what we say to that? Do you know what happens to horses that try to kill Troy?! Those horses burn to whatever plain of Hades they came from!" As the Basileus lit the horse on fire with a torch handed to him by a member of the Novus Varangian Guard, the peopled shouted, screaming at the top of their lungs, "We are Troy, We are Legion, We are God's!!" Jews in Poland in the camps claim that at that precise moment, they could hear freedom coming. His stoicness's speech inspired a broken nation. For the next three years, across the Empire, citizens worked towards achieving their shared goal: The liberation of Auschwitz.

On July 18th, 1942, the combined British & American forces defeated the Burkish 15th legion on the Alli'Gennes, freeing the island of Syagros. Despite this, the nation stood by its mission of liberating Auschwitz before returning to Syagros. On April 3rd, 1943, the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th Legions lined up against the border of Romania, with Basileus Vulcan –ardanexia IX looking across the Bulgarian border, facing Bucharest. In a week Romania was captured, and two, Hungary. In two weeks and three days, Slovakia. On April 27th, 1943, his stoicness, with the 1st Legion at his rear, him mounted on a Trojan Tiger, entered Auschwitz-Birkenau. At the entrance gate, he stopped his soldiers, ordering them to halt. He called a young soldier to his side, and told her: "If any of them, from the lowly grunts to the cohorts do anything but stand, do me a favour and give them a deserters death."

The Basileus then stepped down from his tigers back and walked alone into the camp. They had caught the Schutzstaffel Guard by surprise. They had run off, and many people were still there. According to the young soldier that the Basileus called, Eleaia Ilaisaraexi, "He went into that camp a proud, strong, living man. He came out with the huddled masses yearning to live free and be fed, seeing life for the first time... but for him, he was dead. He came back dead." His stoicness would be the greatest voice among the allies for the prosecution of the N.A.Z.I.'s, a powerful voice during the Nuremberg trials, and the most adamant supporter of Israel's formation, saying "The formation of Israel is the only thing the godless West will ever accomplish that is good & just." Until his death, his stoicness remained the most vocal voice for change in Western society and for people to: "Stop putting their faith in mammon." On March 17th, 1945, his stoicness renounced colonialism, offering most of the colonies their independence & continued membership in the covenant after 140 years of Trojan rule but maintaining Cape Verde & Troy. According to his stoicness: "I am oh so tired of ruling people who would be better ruled by leaders closer to them than I am." On March 17th, 1947, the two year anniversary of Trojan colonialism's end, his stoicness ordered that the mandate with Turkey be ended, saying that the people of the nation had learned from World War I.

On May 14th, 1948, the same day that Israel was formed, his stoicness requested that the Parish Priest at the National Basilica of Saints Aquila & Priscilla set up the monstrance for display on the altar for personal adoration of blessed sacrament, the Eucharist, late at night. There, in front of Jesus, on May 14, 1948, Basileus Vulcan –ardanexia XIX, the Liberator of Auschwitz-Birkenau, ruler of China, Persia, and Greece, Protector of the Armenians, and the Fire Emperor of Syagros, took his own life with a pike to his heart, the only way to take his own Vampiric life. In his note to the parish Priest, he wrote of how his life had no purpose with Israel created, and that his heart could no longer hide that "It was beating not with blood, but with the darkness, the darkness from Auschwitz." according to him, "I admit father, I requested you let me adore my savior at such an unreasonable hour for living men, men unlike myself, to be awake, for the most selfish of reasons: I hoped father, and I pray I was right, that when my heart was torn open by my own hand, that Jesus might destroy all of the darkness inside, and take me up to heaven. I hoped that being in his presence would make me cry less. It didn't, I'm sure of that even though I write now that I hope it does. But I hope that I feel the joy I felt only in his presence at the mass now forever in eternity. Lord, forgive me if I have desecrated your own body by doing this. Please forgive me Lord, I couldn't. I just couldn't anymore. The World needs to turn back to you, or she will end up like me, with her blood spilling out in front of the altar of her God." His stoicness Basileus Vulcan –ardanexia XIX passed away at the age of 136.

Rather than his suicide wrecking the faith of those in the city, many claim him as a patron Saint, and many miracles have been attributed to him, the first of which was, on the day following his death, the once simple grey stone Basilica was transformed overnight into pure, white marble. In 1981, Pope John Paul I would canonize him "Saint Vulcan Martyr." and named him a doctor of the Church, the "Suffering Doctor." His feast day is celebrated on May 14th in the Catholic Christian Church & Eastern Orthodox Churches, and August 7th in the Apostolic Church of Armenia. Being the first post-schism Saint to be revered in all three, he has been called "The Schism-Mender." His patronages include Armenia, Israel, the oppressed, Syagros, Thailand, China, Morocco, Bulgaria, leaders, suicide victims, marble miners and the Eucharist.

Religion

Religion is a defining facet of Trojan life. When Saint Peter the Apostle evangelized the Anatolian & JůrdanŪt populations while the island was still under Roman rule, preaching passionately to them in Aramaic in a series of sermons in the Catacombs to avoid the Roman Governor of the island, Gaius Salvius, from seeking him out in what has been called "The Homilies of Skulls & Bones", it is estimated that 74,000 island inhabitants were converted and baptized Catholic Christians during the days long sermons.

The Trojan people would form the Ttroaditine Catholic rite. However, the Anatolian & JůrdanŪt pagans were not the only island residents. When the Anatolian refugees from Troy traversed the Mediterranean, they did not make the journey alone. They came with Jews hoping that the province of Aquilae Dominae Major & Minor at the fringes of the Roman Empire would provide safe harborage from Roman rule. The Jews & Pagans were not fraternal shipmates on the long journey to Syagros at first. However, in a precious story that has been recited for time immemorial, the Captain of the Anatolian peoples, an alliance of the Trojans and their allies, Aeneas, met with the Jew Yehoshua Shalit. The two men had been rivals throughout the whole journey thus far. Sitting down next to each other, around the Island of Sardinia, they challenged each other to an arm-wrestling competition. As they went, unable to truly best one another, the men gathered to cheer or boo either side. Both men, dressed in the same, tattered clothing, could not be told apart. As they went, Anatolian's cheered for Yehoshua, and Jews for Aeneas. Women and children began to come, whole families intermingling with each other from both groups. Finally, realizing that the two men were equal, Aeneas pulled Yehoshua up onto his legs, and the men hugged, swearing they were to be brothers for life. Jews from Germany fleeing the Nazis, Nigerian Odinani pagans facing the possibility of slavery seeking shelter, Zoroastrians immigrants seeking a more stable realm, Shinto Japanese workers praying they'd be welcome, and native JůrdanŪt pagans hoping to be spared the fate of countless other native peoples. Through it all Syagros has remained a piously Catholic nation. The nation stands against what it cannot stand for, speaks what it professes, and ultimately, submits herself to Rome. The people believe that because of that faith, not despite it, she is able to honor and remember Aeneas and Yehoshua, the fathers of their people, and still call each other brothers. During World War II, in Syagros called "The War of Blood on glass." in Anatolian: "Yi' Voren ni Brisz en lufii" The nation would be the first advocate for the Jewish people, entering the war with the sole reason to end the atrocities of the Third Reich. Basileus Vulcan –ardanexia XIX, in a speech to the allied generals & leaders, admonished those gathered, speaking to them as the High rabbi of Triton stood behind him with his family, some of whom were rescued by Trojan troops. Syagros holds the second largest population of Jews in the world outside of Israel, behind only America, with the oldest continually inhabited Jewish community in the world, Tel Eilat, a large suburb of Hektor, a community founded by the descendants of Yehoshua in 1300 B.C. which is the oldest extant Jewish community in Europe. Judaism enjoys explicit protection in the nations Constitution alongside Catholic Christians. Of all of the minority groups in the rich and boiling melting pot that is Syagros, none has had more of a lasting effect on the culture of the people than the Jewish community.

While the country maintains a population of paganís and has a long time-span of peaceful coexistence with Jews, Zoroastrians, and even Muslims, making the nation rather religiously diverse though strongly Catholic Christian, there is a total lack of Protestants. Long called "The Great Bastion of the Church." or "The Church's Eldest Son." The country fiercely resisted attempts to ingrain the Church of England in the country and the country sent multiple missionaries to combat Calvinism in France and Lutheranism in Germany in the 1500's. Neither Lutheranism nor Calvinism managed to make a stronghold in the Archipelago, and the religious landscape remains unaffected by the Reformation culturally.

Culture

Trojan culture is a lively & celebratory but also grounded culture influenced by those who immigrated to the shores of the islands and those who ruled her in century's past. The nation's heritage as a Trojan successor influences the nation's grand, imposing architecture. Declaring her independence in 196 from Rome, the First Republic would usher in an age of local customs & cuisine forming. The brutality of war with the Romans grew a pacifistic mindset in the hearts of the people. At the return of the crown in 417 A.D. The nation would see a great art movement grow in the form of sculpting, and in Catholic liturgical traditions. In the grandiose halls of the nations Cathedrals, one can hear the pleasant sounds of bells, flutes, organ, singing bowl & violin.

Arriving at the Venetian era, called the "the era of the sea" the economy of the nation would skyrocket. But the Venetians did not bring just gold, they brought fashion, wisdom, and titles. The title of the nationís Princes & Princess's, 'Prince Patrician' or 'Princess Patrician' is a nod to her Venetian ruler of the past, the Patrician of Venice, with the head of state titles of Basilissa & Basileus taking a node from the Byzantine or Eastern Roman Empire. This influx of wealth ushered in the Trojan renaissance, which lasted from 1232 A.D. to 1600 A.D. which is sometimes called the "Trosaiance." or the "Greater Renaissance." From the Trosaiance, the nation saw a growth in Philosophical traditions, an interest in the Sciences not seen since the death of Aristotle, a rediscovery of ancient Greek, Roman, Egyptian, Persian, and Trojan literature, as well as advances in medicine & a golden age of art, especially music, mosaics, paint, and architecture. The Trosaiance also brought to the nation a new exchange of ideas & culture unseen before, with the Iberian Kingdoms of Aragon, Castille, Navarre, Galicia, Portugal, and Leůn playing a particularly powerful in the nation's culture in terms of cuisine & the arts. The king of Aragon, King Renť of Anjou remarked in 1467 "The street food in Aenenth is delectable, the inns in Triton have pies, cakes, and smoked meats that can soothe the savage beast, and the breweries of Deiphobica will send you home with hardly half of a ThŠlas in your purse."

Pictured: A portrait of Basilissa Zhang Li –ardanexia "The Lotus Flower", the first Asian borne empress of the nation, which hangs in the personal chambers of the Imperial family in Castle Baalmorel. The eldest daughter of the Ming dynasty Chinese Emperor Zhu Yuanzhang, Basilissa Zhang Li was married off by her father to Basileus Vulcan VII in 1373 as part of a lavish state present aimed at garnering more support from Syagros for the Ming dynasty. According to historian Udele Kassandraexia: "Basilissa Zhang Li came to the nation on a golden litter covered in Chrysanthemums & Lotus flowers and would greet her father the next year wearing a crown of Orchids. She, a foreigner, became the truest example of a Trojan Empress." the Basilissa quickly fell in love with her husband, and moreover, the nation. She made a conscious point of fulfilling the various cultural duties of a Basilissa- namely as High Almoner, well and with grave respect for tradition. In turn, the people fell deeply in love with her, and Basilissa Zhang Li thus fostered a deep respect in the culture for East Asia. By the end of her life, according to Professor Kassandraexia: "The nation was snacking on Chinese dim sum, studying Chinese history, reading Confucius alongside Aristotle & Aquinas and including Gongs in their musical ensembles. More importantly, they were welcoming Chinese travelers."

To this day in Syagros, traditional medieval, customs such as fairs, jousting competitions, and dueling remain popular.

The Queen Elizabeth the firsts persecution of the nationís Jews would culminate in the Massacre at the Sanguine Wall, where Jewish parents were slaughtered alongside Catholic Christian compatriots trying to prevent the enslavement of Jewish children by the Queen.

Artists depiction of the Sanguine wall, just before the Queen's forces descended upon the parents & their children. Catholic Christians & Jews can be seen praying to the Archangel Michael for deliverance from the Holy Roman Empire. The event had been meant to be a prayer circle, but their cursing of the Queen angered nearby Great British troops.

The British occupiers brought to the nation advanced shipbuilding techniques and a resentment of foreign rule. Although in modernity the U.K. is overwhelmingly considered the nations closet ally outside of The Burke Islands and Arstassigon, Queen Elizabeth I is still referred to as "Bloody Bess" in popular culture. The nation resisted English attempts to anglicize her land so much so that Trojan-Jesuit evangelists went on the offensive, managing to reconvert over 10,000 Welsh peasants, 2,500 Scots, and 47,000 Englishmen in multiple missionary excursions to the U.K. all in an attempt to overthrow Queen Elizabeth I. What would finally result in England unshackling Syagros would not be the nationís missionary efforts but rather through moral dissent from the crown regarding slavery. In a bid to win the islands favor, the crown brought five naval shiploads of Nigerian slaves. Trojan fishermen from the city of Turnoch, where the ships had made landfall, disgusted, boarded the ships in the dead of night, surprised the crew, freed the slaves, pushed them further into the island off the coast for safety, and sank the naval ships by burning them in fires now called the "Freedom Fires." The embarrassment to the English crown was so great, the islands were given independence in 1783, at the Peace of Paris. While the Nigerian's were offered safe passage back to their homes, which some chose to do, most elected to remain in the country of their own volition. The Nigerians brought to their new compatriot's native Nigerian cuisine, dance, and revolutionized the music prose & style of the nation.

The Nigerian's aboard the R.M.S. Victory, the flagship of the British Royal Navy, were rescued by an unknown man, this is an artistís rendition based on their descriptions of him. The manís identity was given to them, but according to those aboard the ship "His accent, it was from the hills. It was too thick, and he spoke too soft." To this day, Nigerian Catholic Christians have tales of him and include a popular hymn in their tradition titled 'The Jagora lantarki points to Jesus'. Jagora lantarki is the title given to the man, translated from the language of Hausa it means "The Lantern Shepherd." for his leading them out of the dark & dank British naval ship. Reenactments in the harbor of Turnoch of the night on Independence day celebrate the heroism of the fishermen and the mystery of the Jagora Lantarki, the man who disappeared into the fog after freeing the would-be-slaves.

Geography

The Orchid Imperium of Syagros is located in the Northern Atlantic Ocean. It is bordered on the north by England, on the east by the Portuguese Azores islands, the south by Morocco, and the west by The United States. Syagros covers 118,232.96 square kilometers.

A legend surrounds two sisters, off the mossy coast of the Lake Glofiliss in the district of Ferkkodia. The younger sister, Astraea, had been condemned to death by the islands Roman Governor for the crime of vampirism, to be executed in the city of Hektor's Coliseum during the next Gladiatorial match. Astraea brought her sister with her to the cliff, as friends had advised her to die by her own hands rather than be the gladiators, but she was too afraid to be alone. Her eldest sibling Europa, so in love with her young sister, formed a pact with her. They would both jump from the falls, rather than have Astraea face the harsh Roman punishment or die alone. When the pair were found, at the bottom of the falls 1500-foot drop, Europa was holding her younger sister in her arms, their hands intertwined, and the two smiling. The legend, a true legend, serves as both a story used by the inhabitants of the islands that love is able to defeat death and of the bloodied & long struggle of Vampires on the Isles.

The Southern forests are lush with foliage, given moist soil by constant rains coming off the Atlantic while the North is dominated with wetlands. The Central mountainous region can see brutal winters, but a mild summer. Off the coast on the Bishop Isles, warm nights and temperate days offer refuge for a variety of migratory bird species.

Puffins at roost off of the North-West coast of Vůreios, an island in the Bishop Isles.

The environment is pristine with dense, virgin rain forests and steep mountainsides to the East and coastal plains to the West, where most of the nationís people reside. The largest cities in the nation turn their lights off at 10 pm. By custom, citizens usually take this time to climb their rooftops, watch the night sky whilst praying, so as to worship their God in the secret of the night. In the medieval era, candles would be blown out for the same reason; to set aside time for the highest one.

The Burning Woods, the largest untouched woods on planet earth sit at the base of the Beors, at the centre of the largest island. They're are called such for the rich, fire-like leaves they acquire in the autumn.

The Beor Mountain range, off the North coast where they find their start. The mountains surpass 30,000 feet, with the highest peak, Mount Areia, at 30,292 feet, nicknamed 'The Throat of The World' for being the tallest point on earth.

Government

The Syagrosian government is De Jure, a Kingdom within Great Hekktorium. The Empire of Great Hekktorium is located off of the coast of West Africa & Western mainland Europe, stretching from the Strait of Gibraltar all the way up to the sea of Labrador. The Empire is made up of four nations. The Kingdom of Syagros is the primary title of the Basileus, with the other two being the Kingdom of The Burcaean Islands, otherwise known as The Kingdom of The Burke Islands, the first being the Greek pronunciation and second the native Burke pronunciation. The third Kingdom level title of the Empire is the Queendom of Arstassigon and the fourth being the Kingdom of Vostria. The Empire is a commonwealth akin to the United Kingdom and is rather decentralized, with the ruling Basilissa or Basileus of the Empire governing Syagros, the Matriarch of Trainovo ruling the Queendom of Arstassigon, and the elected President of the Burke Islands ruling The Kingdom of The Burcaean Islands. The Basileus of the Empire, Matriarch of Trainovo, and President of Burcaea all meet bi-annually on the Isle of Fsyijol, which is just South of Arstassigon, where they discuss matters of state and solve disagreements in the Cerospolis, a large assembly hall. The Basileus of Syagros is the nominal & ceremonial head of the Empire.

Syagros is a Partially-Constitutional Monarchy, with a Council of Nine experts elected by the people to advise the Basileus or Basilissa and a Council of religious leaders to represent their communities, as all religions in Syagros receive aid for schooling & receive stipends for providing services to the poor and the marginalized. The nation's Constitution which the sovereign must obey, De Libellus Autem Iuribus, penned by Saint Josephine of Antioch, the nation's heroine who ended the Roman occupation, allows for much lee-way for the Basileus or Basilissa. The Constitution outlines certain absolute human rights but other than promising to protect these rights, the sovereign has absolute control over the country. Syagros is often studied by political scientists as it is peculiar in that it holds the strongest monarch in Europe. While most Kings and Queens of Europe gave up most if not all of their powers over the course of the last couple of hundred years, Syagros lacked a strong revolutionary period. The monarchy has maintained popularity for thousands of years, the Imperial family will say by ruling wisely, justly, fairly and empathetically.
