The Empire of Antares-Solicia is a huge, orderly nation, remarkable for its otherworldly petting zoo, free-roaming dinosaurs, and frequent executions. The cynical population of 448 million Antares-Breadians are ruled with an iron fist by the dictatorship government, which ensures that no-one outside the party gets too rich. In their personal lives, however, citizens are relatively unoppressed; it remains to be seen whether this is because the government genuinely cares about its people, or if it hasn't gotten around to stamping out civil rights yet.

The large, corrupt, well-organized government juggles the competing demands of Administration, Education, and Law & Order. The average income tax rate is 56.2%, and even higher for the wealthy.

The very strong Antares-Solician economy, worth 33.7 trillion Breadian Marks a year, is driven entirely by a combination of government and state-owned industry, with private enterprise illegal. The industrial sector, which is fairly diversified, is led by the Tourism industry, with significant contributions from Uranium Mining, Information Technology, and Soda Sales. Average income is 75,231 Breadian Marks, and distributed extremely evenly, with little difference between the richest and poorest citizens.

Hammer and sickle-wielding space marines are such stuff that dreams are made on, a blood-red mark on the doorframe means a building must be passed over for destruction, boats straying just metres away from the shore will raise the ire of the Coast Guard, and Antares-Solician novella fans become unusually flustered when thinking about Leader. Crime, especially youth-related, is totally unknown, thanks to a well-funded police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Antares-Solicia's national animal is the dolphin.

Antares-Solicia is ranked 149,321st in the world and 10th in The Breadlands for Highest Economic Output, with 33.7 trillion Standard Monetary Units.
