Our Motherland
National anthem of Allinburg

Our Motherland

National anthem of Allinburg

Lyrics: Berthold Halvor, 1768
Carleton Célestine and Elisabet Pirkko, 1967

Music: Gabriel Boone, 1761

Adopted: 1768

"Our Motherland" is the national anthem of the Federal Republic of Allinburg, first composed in 1761 by Gabriel Boone for an unknown and unrelated song, and lyrics written on 20 March 1768 by Berthold Halvor, two days before the Day of National Unity on 22 March 1768. It was extended and revised to its current form in 1967, with verses by Carleton Célestine and Elisabet Pirkko, for the bicentennial anniversary of Unity Day the following year.

"Our Motherland" shares the same melody as LinkDeutschlandlied, the national anthem of Linkreal-life Germany, even though they were composed 36 years apart — first by Boone in 1761, then by LinkJoseph Haydn in 1797 — and occasionally results in a single melody being performed by a military band during state visits between between Allinburg and other nations that use the melody in their national anthem, instead of two separate tunes. The first stanza of the anthem is usually the only stanza sung, with the full song reserved for official and formal occasions.

Lyrics

Our motherland, our great land!
We are proud of our motherland!
Our motherland, our motherland!
We'll defend you with heart and hand!
Blessed with liberty and civility
That we have made with unity
Our motherland, our motherland!
This land was and is our land.
Our motherland, our motherland!
This land was and is our land.

Kingdoms in concord, they made you born
Freed from dark war, empty of scorn
Unity made, sins and evil paid
Foundations of liberty laid
Through the myriads of land and face
They gave their lives and your soul was ablaze
The cause was made, the cause was made
Just the start of a new page.
The cause was made, the cause was made
Just the start of a new page.

When the warriors hurt you with their flame
For discord they were to blame
Guided by light, our righteous will
For your future we will fulfil
Through endeavour, rising to the fight
Overcoming the tyrant blight
Radiant yet and more, radiant yet and more
Our undying courage do you adore.
Radiant yet and more, radiant yet and more
Our undying courage do you adore.

Arts and knowledge blessed by you to all
Governing every hallowed hall
Allinean minds and talents
Doubt and distrust they challenge
Through the open fields, rich and cultured
Voice and thought shine unfettered
Spread our wisdom free, spread our wisdom free
Proud once more to our land that is thee.
Spread our wisdom free, spread our wisdom free
Proud once more to our land that is thee.

Our motherland, our motherland!
Let our land's fine name be heard!
Our motherland, our motherland!
Above all in this whole world!
Blessed with liberty and civility
That we’ll defend through unity
Our motherland, our motherland!
This land shall for ever be our land.
Our motherland, our motherland!
This land shall for ever be our land.
