The Republic of Grodeni is a very large, efficient nation, renowned for its spontaneously combusting cars. The hard-working, democratic population of 259 million Grodenians are effectively ruled by a group of massive corporations, who run for political office and provide their well-off citizens with world-class goods and services. Their poorer citizens, however, are mostly starving to death while being urged to go out and get real jobs. The populace has reasonably extensive civil rights, although these are mostly aimed at allowing them to buy whatever they like.

The tiny, pro-business, outspoken government juggles the competing demands of Defense, Law & Order, and Welfare. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 6.5%.

The very strong Grodenian economy, worth 16.3 trillion GDNS a year, is driven almost entirely by the private sector, which is fairly diversified and led by the Gambling industry, with significant contributions from Retail, Book Publishing, and Soda Sales. Average income is 63,017 GDNS, but there is a significant disparity between incomes, with the richest 10% of citizens earning 229,124 per year while the poor average 12,331, a ratio of 18.6 to 1.

Teachers prefer to give 'Maybe, Maybe Not' tests when dealing with sensitive subjects. Crime is a problem, with the police force struggling against a lack of funding and a high mortality rate. Grodeni's national animal is the None, which can occasionally be seen sifting through garbage in the nation's cities.

Grodeni is ranked 219,048^th in the world and 207^th in Christians for Nicest Citizens, with 12 average smiles per day.
