The Federation of Darkcastles is a massive, socially progressive nation, renowned for its absence of drug laws and spontaneously combusting cars. The hard-working, democratic population of 2.085 billion Darkians live in a state of perpetual fear, as a complete breakdown of social order has led to the rise of order through biker gangs.

The tiny, liberal, pro-business, outspoken government prioritizes Defense, although Welfare, Healthcare, and Education are also considered important, while International Aid and Spirituality receive no funds. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 7.1%.

The very strong Darkis economy, worth 106 trillion krests a year, is driven almost entirely by the private sector, which is fairly diversified and led by the Information Technology industry, with major contributions from Arms Manufacturing, Cheese Exports, and Gambling. Average income is 50,690 krests, but there is a large disparity between incomes, with the richest 10% of citizens earning 205,525 per year while the poor average 8,322, a ratio of 24.7 to 1.

Crime is a serious problem, with the police force struggling against a lack of funding and a high mortality rate. Darkcastles's national animal is the turtle, which can occasionally be seen avoiding garbage in the nation's murky oceans.

Darkcastles is ranked 25,943^rd in the world and 1^st in Tradeborough Straits for Most Politically Free, scoring 94 on the Diebold Election Inking Scale.
