The Caliphate of Zoldorstan is a huge, safe nation, renowned for its devotion to social welfare. Its hard-nosed, cynical population of 869 million are ruled with an iron fist by the dictatorship government, which ensures that no-one outside the party gets too rich. In their personal lives, however, citizens are relatively unoppressed; it remains to be seen whether this is because the government genuinely cares about its people, or if it hasn't gotten around to stamping out civil rights yet.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, corrupt government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Social Welfare, Education, and Healthcare. The average income tax rate is 96%. Private enterprise is illegal, but for those in the know there is a slick and highly efficient black market in Book Publishing.

Wealthy parents-to-be can select their perfect baby, protests are legal but strictly supervised, all citizens must pass a 'multicultural sensitivity test' to be deemed fit for society, and a dictator has seized power and outlawed elections. Crime is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Zoldorstan's national animal is the Fox, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the Opal.

Zoldorstan is ranked 415th in the region and 21,626th in the world for Largest Basket Weaving Sector.
