Large corporations tend to be above the law, and use their financial clout to gain ever-increasing government benefits at the expense of the poor and unemployed.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, corrupt, moralistic, pro-business government stops and the rest of society begins, but it concentrates mainly on Defence, although Law & Order and Commerce are secondary priorities. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Area 00. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 18%. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Arms Manufacturing, Uranium Mining, and Gambling industries.

Suburban families are finding themselves increasingly short on food as they waste precious water on their lawns, the adult unemployment rate nears 100% as all available jobs have been filled by young children, theoretical science is only theoretical, and funding for education has been redirected into the military. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force. Unchecked Expansion's national animal is the badger of death, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, its national religion is Expantionism, and its currency is the bullet.
