ewww...Japan has a messed up sense of morals

Really?? As far as I'm concerned, it thinks that education is on of the top priorities and though they are the lead in technological advancement, they still hold onto their traditions and ancient culture. As a bonus, it is the birthplace of SAO, as well as almost every single one of my favorite animes. (yes, I do realize that anime is NOT in any way, shape, or form, a standard for me to base my beliefs or knowledge on and I don't- matter of fact I have come to learn in the past year that anime is an underground culture in Japan.)

Japanese people are horribly racist and sexist. Their school systems are evil.

Literally the first thing a Japanese person said to me on my first trip there was "stupid American" as I was having a hard time counting a new currency after an 8 hour sleepless flight, trying not to get lost, and didn't know I had to pay on the train as well as a ticket. But also if you are a non-Japanese Asian in Japan good luck. They have a long history of xenophobia. Literally their foreign politics until the Meiji restoration was "GTFO our island or die!"

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ethnic_issues_in_Japan

sexism is also a problem. They are kinda stuck in the 50s'. Women don't get jobs easily and are expected to get married and be a house wife. Remember in anime when an embarrassing situation happened to a girls they reply with something like "now i can never be a wife/get married" kinda in a joking way but still...

I have heard horror stories from Japanese schools from friends(who enrolled there), exchange students/ teachers. Basically teachers do their best to control you(even outside of class) and make your life hell. Teachers treat their students like crap, "everything is the student's fault" as my friend said. They make the kids clean the class, seriously how demeaning can that be getting free labor out of students. There education is basically good at turning kids into workaholic drones(another problem with japan)

Now all this is coming from a Japanophile/otaku (mainly history/military)(lol my flag is an anime mecha musume of the Japanese combined fleet flagship the Musashi) so I'm not anti Japanese it's just things I don't like about Japan.

Well, me being a guy, I don't have as much a problem as the women do with the whole sexist thing, and as much as I am all for the "gender equality" women are working for, I like the idea of "come home to your wife and kids" situation. Doesn't at all mean I'm against my wife having a job or anything of the sort, I just would like it if she were there to greet me when I got home, especially if I was treated as an idiot American all day. I also have NEVER wanted my kids to go to a daycare/childcare center, or even a home daycare (even more so if the teachers are going to be control freaks). I also don't mind much about the schools being ridiculously strict. I actually think it would be good for my kids, having a dad like me, and they'll be some of the top-educated kids in the world being in that country so.....

Well I agree those are problems. There are many Koreans living in Japan, having moved there from the time Japan colonized Korea, several generations later until today, they are still not given Japanese citizenship. Discrimination is rife.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Koreans_in_Japan

The Japanese also discriminates against the Chinese, and even worse, against people of dark skin. Notably, you almost never see Africans or Indians in Anime. And if there's a black guy he's always introduced as either a punk or some kind of a joke character (usually in a sexual way).

I never heard of discrimnation against Whites, but I would agree with the general perspective that it is very difficult to integrate into Japanese society if you are an outsider.

Having kids clean the classroom isn't so bad. I'm Singaporean and we did the same growing up. It teaches kids things like shared responsibility. It's the reason why you hardly see litter in Japan.

Militarism has been a recurring problem in Japan, in their culture there is a tendency to glorify the military starting from the various Sengoku jidai stories. Therefore I think the US should be very careful when it encourages Japan to re-militarize in an effort to balance China. If China ever gets weak or splits up again (which it does every few centuries, as its history has shown for the last 4000 years) You could bet Japan will invade again.

Chevaux de frise

Yeah as an American we had to clean our class rooms in grade school. They usually made it into a game it wasn't really demeaning. Kids are messy. They should learn to clean up after themselves.
