That or either you weren’t in the region last time this category was shown (CivCorp, Flanderosa, the Imperial Remnant, and Amalgamated Conglomerates). Only when short-term variations, up or down, are part of an overall trend should they be considered a diagnosis of your movement in the overall standings.

The Wysterian market index was down 55 ranks in the world standings. While the main trend in the market was up, there was a major epidemic of rodents in both Nak nak and Wars Forever, causing both nations to fall hard in the world rankings.

Should be a good night, tonight, for Northern Lights...if it wasn't for all the clouds spoiling the show.

I don't think I've dismissed as many issues as I have been lately. It's like an issue mine field out there!

Live to ride

Sometimes you can go straight to the NS Technical forum to find someone foaming at the mouth over the effects of a new issue. That can be helpful.

Everyonez gettin' ready for skool. Here in Keyser Soze we don' need no stinkin' skools. Weez all edumacated all weez needz!

Well 1 day to school equals 1day for either parents or teachers to start a strike.
So until tomorrow at 8am, school has a question mark.

As to our regional adventures. Since waters in Wysteria proven to be a non safe place in recent events.
The Potpourri Octo of Herzil and The Three Moons will enter a joint transportation project in the islands which hopefully will ease the traveling and keep us all safe.

The three moons

Might be harsh embarking on a business adventure given the crises at sea
but a nation can't stop functioning just because 700 very rich passengers received an electro knockout, at least according to your scientists....

I just learned that in the US there is a guy running for president called Deez Nutz. No joke. Look it up

Good for him!!! and if Big Bird wish to run good for her as well!!

Its part of the democratic process and if they have support from either sides - why not?!

In these times, when austerity is the buzz word, public service strikes are pretty messy. Often the only time politicians can be convinced to give raises with a minimum of debate is for themselves.

I saw a story a while ago, featured on the Daily Show with Jon Stewart, where they were polling well. When their nations came to Wysteria they weren't just banjected for being spammers, it was also because of their weak foreign policy platform...

I wish I had a job where I could decide to give myself a raise whenever it suited me. Of course the politicians will tell you that you have to pay competitive salaries if you want to attract and keep the best talent...although it's doubtful whether that is even working as it should.

Given the general results of using competitive salaries, we might want to reverse this policy and treat back benchers like interns and give cabinet members minimum wage. You'd certainly see raises on the minimum wage that way. :-)

The three moons

It is meaningless to give low salaries to politicians.
You will always find someone who is willing to pay the extra money to hire a worker and that will cause good people to shift from public office to private office.

you can see it in the Medical business where surgeons earning maybe 40% of what they would have earned per operation if they werent working in a public hospital.

The fact is that in order for a person to stay in a job he needs one of the following motivations:

1) A High salary that he believe justify his qualification and professionalism.

2) The Satisfaction he is getting from the job.

If we were living in a perfect world where everyone get satisfaction from their jobs, then the idea of "same salaries" could have worked (btw socialism work on that idea but mostly on the point of everyone is a working unit).
Satisfaction on the other hand is rather rare to find among the public sector.

As to Minimum wage - a person can't live on minimum wage and cant support themselves these days unless s/he live in their parents house and only pay for food and games.

Actually, I worked three jobs at minimum wage, topping out at about 80 hours a week, moved back in with my dad, and still couldn't make ends meet. Of course, that was with student debt and a car payment, but it's insulting that working double-shifts on a regular basis at minimum wage can't pay for a car and an education. It's actually why I joined the Navy.

You make some good points, but the principle behind paying representatives minimum wage works if you also forbid them from taking donations. I can't decide which one of these prospects will more definitely and absolutely never happen ever, but it's nice to dream.

By the way, though "Deez Nuts's" campaign successfully highlighted the inane mockery of U.S. governance, it turns out he's 20 years short of the minimum age to be elected: he's actually 15 year old Brady Olsen from Iowa. One must be 35 to run for POTUS.

On the upside, with Repubs shedding their non-greedy and non-racist members, the U.S. will have a one party system soon! Like China! yaaaaaaaaaaayyy.... (move to Costa Rica, maybe Denmark or even Australia)

I give it two election cycles. If something doesn't change for the better by 2024, I'm leaving. (for aforementioned locales)

Paying high salaries to politicians only encourages them to do whatever it takes to try and stay around for as long as they possibly can. Politics shouldn't be a career, you should do your duty and move along.

Isn't that age discrimination? Why aren't the civil rights lawyers jumping all over this? Would be funny though if a 15 year old made it in to office. Just picture Brady Olsen getting bullied by Putin.

It's probably based on philosophies that state that nobody under 40 knows anything, but someone they wanted in office was 35 when the constitution was being written up. Age is not necessarily a measure of maturity or wisdom though, from what I've seen. An intelligent 19 year old might be wiser in their 40's, but a clown will just get a redder nose over time. You'll constantly hear people tell you they are right, by saying that they've been doing something for ten years, when it's pretty clear they've been spinning their wheels for ten years without learning a lot. Given how out of touch many of the elderly are with technology (snowballs in Congress as proof climate change is a lie or the internet being a bunch of tubes), keeping younger people out of higher office (Congress, Senate, etc) isn't always in a country's best interest.

In Canada, the Prime Minister only has to meet two requirements: be a Canadian citizen and be of voting age (18 or more). It does make sense that someone old enough to vote, go to war, drink (except in provinces where the drinking age is 19 to keep kids from drinking in high school), and do all kinds of other adult things be able to hold public office. Do they have a lot of life experience? No, but some silver spoon, sheltered, trust fund kid might only have self-indulgent experience by the time they are older too, so results will vary. So far though there haven't been any Pitt the Youngers in Canada, but you don't have to be an aging fossil that holds up a cross every time they see a smart phone either. The problem in Canada and most democracies is that by the time a politician makes their way up the food chain, they're much older and much more corrupted than when they started out (with their hands tied by special interest groups and corporate backers), instead of older and wiser to make good policy decisions.

Would anyone like to see my halloween flag variant now?

The Cross Regional Tennis Association is happy to announce that the 4th Tennis tournament this season will be opened around the week of the 7th.

The Greenwood Financial Taracco Open will be hosted in Taracco Hills Tennis Center, Taracco, Iyari, Wysteria

This is an Hard Court surface, both men and women, Normal ranked. and will be sponsored by the Greenwood Financial.

Its going to be an interesting tournament and hopefully with epic moments.
It might even help some of us committee members forget the ranking incident 2 weeks ago, when we had to degrade one of the players ranking points
after he was granted false points during the Fothair Aonghais Championships In The Bruce, several months ago.

Tokuopolis wrote:Would anyone like to see my halloween flag variant now?

Sure.

here's my halloween flag. What do people think?

Tokuopolis wrote:here's my halloween flag. What do people think?

Isn't it the same as the old one, but with different coloured/toned horizontal bars?

Yes, but I said it was a variant originally. I wanted something that looked like the tokuopolis flag but also "halloweeny", so I kept the red top part of the flag, as well as the green bar, and recoloured the tupuxuara partially black, turned the pink into dark red/brown, blue into black & yellow into dark grey.

Writing your nation description is hard but it seems finding the right type of image to attach to it, is even harder.
I found more cities with dragons in them than cities with air ships, which is weird consider most of the futuristic storylines (and images) include some level of feudalism in them
So you would expect to see more images with Arcanum style transportation then space shuttles and such.
