Think of it like the Middle East, with lots of proxy wars and bullying but little actual total war between the biggest powers(Russia, NATO). Its really quite complex, but so is the Middle East. When I first started I kept consulting the map to find out what was important. Usually something is only urgent for you if
a)It has your name mentioned
b)It has your stronger allies/enemies mentioned
c)It is your neighbours mentioned

After a Sichou change in power wherein we backed the wrong claim to the throne, things kinda got a little chilly.

well, first they backed the losing political regime after the death of the Emperor
then they joined the MDA and Sichou joined CADO
and during the Rotvik peace convention, we found out they were holding some of our soldiers who crash landed there, and one of them didn't come back (Niphilati reported him dead, but the government had other suspicions...)
