Beside he obvious not being able to participate in the commonwealth games and having a president instead of a prime minister? I don't think anything would change in the present time. But I think it would be good that we will be able to be free to pursue our own decisions. And when the next world war comes around England won't be able to use their power (ceremonial at the moment) to force us to fight on their side instead if what we choose. But I think we will choose to join their side either way

How do you mean become 'independent from the commonwealth'? No country is dependent on the Commonwealth of Nations, it's just an international community of countries that often collaborate on certain goals and ideals. It's not a legislative body, England exercises no power over Australia and they definitely can't assume any sort of command over the Aus army

Okay, just a little project I'm doing on the development of English:
Can you guys help me fill in the blanks?

1000 or before- Beowulf (Old English)
1100- ???
1200- ???
1300- ???
1400- Canterbury tales (Middle English)
1500-???
1600- Shakespeare (eh... whatever you call the English that Shakespeare wrote in)
1700- ???
1800- ???
1900- ???
2000- What I'm writing this in. Modern English)

What I'm especially looking at is how languages change over time using English because I'm most familiar with it. So, could you guys give me some stories roughly around the years above? I want to see how spelling changes, grammar changes, and words change.

I think the language Shakespeare wrote in was called Shakespearean or Shakespearen English
