That would be a best case scenario solution. Worst case you're gonna have to de-orbit the planet and hope it hits the star before they can break orbit.

I believe so, though I'm not fully sure.
It didn't really, though the eventual outcome was closest to Silence more than anything else. The Rethast are no more, having vanished under mysterious circumstances (ie, nobody knows how or where or why). I do, however, currently RP as the thing that inadvertently created them.
