I think this is probably a good thing. Personally I'm not on board with the whole cyborg technology stuff. I can see the potential, sure, but something about replacing body parts with machinery just concerns me greatly. Besides, what if that eye were to malfunction?

Then you'd have the Red Iris of Death.

There is no such thing as uncomfortable modifications if you choose K-Mods. Besides, everyone knows... malfunctions are for impure breeds and for political dissidents.

Senkaku wrote:Public reclining is a sign of the degeneracy of American society. I mean, I was fine with the public fornication and the public executions, but this? This is beyond the pale. :P

I'm fine with it as long as you don't get the public fornication and the public executions mixed up. That's just a bad day for everyone.

It's not the concept that is bad, it's the implementation and the users that are bad.

I think cyborg stuff is more appropriate if you actually need it. Like to replace a limb or something.

Well in that context, I do agree that cyborg technology is needed. It's when replacing limbs and organs for the sake of being more robotic or "cool" that concerns me. To be fair though, the likelihood of people replacing their organic parts for machines willingly would be pretty low for real life in the future, considering how freaking expensive that would be. Even in the event businesses demand it, the decision wouldn't be very popular and frankly, why bother with cyborg employees when the company can go all the way with robots and hire mechanics to repair them?

If I could have robot parts I would

Replacing people with robots sounds more costly and counterproductive. Plus, where will all these people work then? Robot labor is not something we should be encourage nor welcome as it just means more homelessness and poverty.

Some people would certainly go for cybernetic enhancements for the sake of having them, but as you said it would be expensive and I doubt many people would be up for it, but they'll still be there. No point in trying to stop them, it's not like they'll be killing themselves.

Teen Titans > Teen Titans Go

FACT

Neornith wrote:Except the executioner?

All too possible.

Teen Titans Go isn't all that bad. It can actually be quite funny once you let go of the fact that the old Teen Titans cartoon is never coming back and TTG is intended to be viewed as a parody of itself.

But then again, it is pretty amusing to see all the butthurt 'fans'. And everyone should be glad they got the old voice actors back, they could have very well just shipped the roles off to other, lower priced VAs like they typically do for rebooted old shows.

Actually, not really. Having robots in place of workers can potentially speed up the production cycle of products. No idea what will happen to the people getting replaced. However it's kind of inevitable since we're moving further away from an industrial society and focusing more on providing services. For some people they'll likely become mechanics. The rest will depend on what job opportunities are presented in the future.

Besides, having to replace failing limbs and organs, cleaning body parts to prevent infections... And if we're serious about any implants to enhance the human brain, we better make sure they function properly because the brain is the most sensitive and irreplaceable organ. One malfunction of that could easily result in death and lawsuits. As for any brain implants get created that can "regulate" the human thought? Well let's just say I have no desire to be a Strogg.

Robots are more efficient than cyborgs. Sure it would be difficult to make them sentient, but in most cases we don't need them to be. Just assign them one or two jobs, hire mechanics to keep them functioning properly, and everything should be fine. If a few robots break down, they can be replaced and the parts from the former machines recycled.

P.S.: Teen Titans Go sucks, along with the new PPG show. Cartoon Network is just an embarrassment now.

Actually, I was impressed by that.

And I won't say it sucks, because TTG is for a whole different audience. But still, it can never replace the original TT.

There won't BE any jobs if robots take them all, is what I'm saying.

But regardless, robots won't be replacing people anytime soon. Our robotics aren't advanced enough to be that reliable on their own, as it stands people can do better jobs than robots can, and it will likely stay that way at least for another century or two.

At least we'll all be dead by then, but our kids will have it rough when all the good jobs have been closed for the sake of robotic workers for cheaper labor. Their kids will probably have it even worse, assuming they'll even be able to afford having kids.

Several manufacturing facilities use robot labor now so I'm not sure where you're getting your information, possibly from the 90s? Robot labor is cheaper and loads more efficient than human labor, my facility right now is implementing a robot and no one is losing their jobs in fact we're actually expanding workforce because of the increased production the robot allows us, as to quality a robot with a probe system will be more efficient and have a higher quality output as well, but the notion that robots will replace workers is absurd because after all who services the robots to make sure they keep running?

Or organizes, or manages, or makes sales, or supports customers...

Be glad there's still stuff like Adventure Time, Regular Show, and Steven Universe to binge-watch. :P

I've only ever seen even a little bit of one of those and it was literally the worst thing I have ever seen.

Steven Universe is stupid.

The other two are great, in fact, Regular Show is the best show on CN since The Clone Wars ended.

Adventure Time is okay, but a bit crazy. Regular Show? I just can't get into it. I wanted to watch Steven Universe, but I pretty much never watch television anymore anyways, so meh.
