'Standard protocol dictates that all first wave attacks conducted by Ceralian armed forces must be made up, as a majority, of Telintarian Auxiliaries. Each Telintarian is to receive no more than four Charges for their RBV-72 Infantry Rifle, and no request except for additional auxiliary reinforcements is to be granted to the Auxiliary Officers on the ground.' -Ceralian Officer Handbook excerpt on Telintarian Auxiliary Legions

"Your injustices outnumber the good, and give us much reason to destroy you." -Jorge Kaulian, First Emperor of Telintar

Even with 16 inches of Hionite metal between them and the cold of space, the Telintarian's could still hear the groan of space, its cold seeping through into their poorly insulated prepping zone. Nearly 10,000 Telintarians were assembled within this large area, all of them organized into Cohorts next to pre-determined "Burrowers", the nickname for High-Velocity Insertion Transports, HVIT's. Yheir name came from the fact that they did indeed bury themselves in the ground, ladders within giving the Telintarians a way to reach the top. The burrowers were also well known and infamous for another reason, that being the fact that sometimes they went too deep or crumpled. There had been cases where Telintarian men had been buried alive or had their poorly built craft crumple like aluminum cans, squashing those inside.

The sound of metal plated boots echoing down the hall caused a flurry of movement from the LinkCenturions that had been discussing operational procedure once on the ground. Moving to the front of the Cohorts, the Centurions stood five feet in front of their individual units with arms at the side, the only thing moving being their heads. The Legatus Legionis who approached donned his Linkcombat apparel as though it was his own skin, gliding along the designated walkway as every Centurions head turned to follow him, the rest of their bodies completely still. The man proceeded until the two lines of cohorts that were facing one another ended, walking up a short flight of steps to a platform. He performed a brisk about-face, his voice crackling through the speaker in his helmet. "Stand at the ready." The Centurions heads snapped forward, 100 on the left staring into the 100 on the right: they were scanning for weakness as was ritual. But nothing could be seen from within the darkened confines of their helmets. No man moved, for he had not been ordered to.

"Diacletian stand with you, brothers," the Legatus began, his voice sounding deeper and more threatening that it truly was, "for without them we are lost." The Legion spoke in unison then, their voices joining as one. "The fist was given to bludgeon, the teeth were given to bite, and Telintarian was given to destroy." The Legatus puffed out his chest. They could not see it, any many would never have the chance to do so after today, but he was swelling with pride. "It is the will of the Ceralian Empire that we head into the abyss once more. They speak of pacifying a people on the outer regions of the Empire, and these people claim to have no need of pacification." The Legatus paused, his brow furrowed under his helm. "I ask you now, sons of Telintar, what do you say in the face of those who deny this Empire, which has given unto us the sole glory of battering them to pieces?" The response was nearly jubilant in its reply. "The Imperium is without end!" The Legatus drew his sword, elevating it and pointing to the far wall.

"Through the many walls of this ship the hordes of defenders lie in wait! I can sense, no, smell their fear!" The Legionnaires began to stomp their feet, led in tune by the Centurions. "Unto them we will bring the fire, death, and fury of a people possessed by and bred for war! We are Telintarians, sons of the Diacletian, the Mother of the Shield and the Father of war gave birth to the first of our kin for one purpose; to destroy!" The roar filled the entire staging area now, the men ignoring the fact that three men, two of them lackies and one a Ceralian Commandant, had entered the room. The Legatus looked upon them impassively, the Legion roaring until he raised his hand. You could hear, and did in fact here, a pen drop. The lacky bent down to pick it up as the Ceralian spoke. "Enough lollygagging, take your Legion to the surface. We expect results." With nary a word of good luck or acknowledgement of what they were about to do, the Legatus scoffed.

"We will only find peace before you."

The Cohorts began to file into their large HVIT's, each strapping themselves to a position on the wall, the bottom rows filling out so those above could stand on their shoulders while they strapped themselves in to the rows above. The Legatus boarded one of the HVIT's and strapped himself in to the command console in the center, opening the Communications Link. "All HVIT's report in and check operational status. After confirm drop begins." The long line of HVIT"s checked in one after another, the Legatus nodding in approval. "Prepare for volley drop." He waited a few seconds before reaching for a large red lever, closing his eyes for a moment. "Drop." The Burrower shuddered, the thrusters on top catapulting it until the openness of space. Side thrusters kept it on its automated course, the black shapes flying towards the earth at alarming speed. All along the massive fleet of 79 ships hundreds of thousands of Telintarians were being launched in the same way, thousands of dots catapulting through space.

Upon reaching the atmosphere Anti-Aircraft began fire, large streams of light blocking out large chunks of the ground view as pods full of men began to burst into flame, one only being glanced before it went of course and crash into another. The Legatus began to speak into the communications. "Do not fear the oncoming storm! And if you find yourself embraced in the arms of a mother you have yet to meet, then take heart; for you are in Jurgenheim," at this his pod shared a collective chuckle, "and you are already dead!" More explosions rocked the sky, the Legatus' Burrower finally landing on the ground with a thunk. Within red lights flashed and men began to move, unstrapping themselves and checking charger packs. "If you run out of ammo you are either hiding or not conserving ammunition. But off chance you do, kindly ask a dead brother for his charger packs." The Centurion who spoke incited more laughter, the men clinging on to metal poles on the roof of the burrower.

The top of the Burrower blew off and the Telintarians were thrust out of the top by the poles, the battle already raging around them. The Navy had sent Auxiliary air support, bombers swerved through the sky as fighters engaged in what looked like a dogfight that would never end, and TAF-52 Heavy Tanks rolled along to provide a spearhead into the enemy. The Legatus temporarily rallied his men and a Centurion raised his arm to incite order before it was blow off, another shot flying through the air to remove the side of his head. "First blood, boys!" the Legatus roared while pointing to the Centurion, taking that same arm and pointing towards the opposite side where the enemy lay in wait. All along the continent Telintarians were engaging the enemy, a planet wide conflict with its epicenter where the Legatus stood. "Forward, Telintarians, forward for the Empire!"

---

"Telintarians on the ground, Ma'am." an elderly voice croaked, a middle-aged woman thinning her eyes as she stared into the screen. 200,000 Telintarians had been sent in against a garrison force of 7,000,000 on a continent. None of them were expected to survive; they were well armed cannon fodder. "Report to me when the Telintarians are almost destroyed, then prepare to send in the next wave."

---

The Crown-Prince Jorge of Telintar, referred to as the Emperor of the Telintarians, had been offered a truce and a marriage. "She loves you madly, and when you lose marriage will simply be forced upon you." said the envoy, pleased with his remark. "This is," Jorge said with his hand raised, on the slight chance that we lose." -Origins of Imperium, "Telintar Rising - Chapter 7"

Read factbook

My first factbook, detailing how Telintarian's were treated by Ceralia before we rebelled and formed our Imperium. There will be a broadened factbook on the subject, but Telintar is a planet that was annexed by the Ceralian Empire a very long time ago, and they found that Telintarians were very keen to fight other people and used it to their advantage. Eventually we got sick of them and, even if we were ruled by a Telintarian royal line, we still had to answer to Ceralia and were kind of sick of them.

Very nice, my only question being that since they broke off from an empire why they would form their own? It seems slightly unusual to trade one empire for the next for a people as spirited as you've portrayed yours

Actually most civilizations rarely learn from history and tend to repeat it. Take the Puritans, they left (thrown out of) England in search of religious freedom and then established a near theoracy when they got to America. Or the 13 original colonies leaving the British Empire and then going on to forge their own North American empire. I dare say, most civilizations repeat the "mistakes" that may have spurred their current incarnation out of shear ignorance of a "better" way.

Telintar was a Kingdom before the Ceralians came to us. It was basically like Medieval Europe trying to take on space Nazis when they came, as we were still in the age of swords and spears, and they showed up with FTL technology and overwhelmed us.

So, instead of attempting to fight, we agreed to become a part of their Empire in exchange for maintaining our Royal Family so they could be hereditary Governors of the planet. About 300 years passed unti- nope, spoilers.

But we pretty much rebelled and took them over, declaring them in turn OUR subjects and decimated their population and barred them entry from the Armed Forces, taking our revenge in this way. We also forced upon them our Religion, Culture, and Language as they did us.

This would be better if it wasn't for the fact that the first example has nothing to do with it. They left England because they wanted a more strict, conservative near-theocracy of the kind that England was not, and would never be allowed to become because the vast majority didn't want to live like Puritans. So they started a colony for their near-theocracy in Americas. Because that was the goal all along. Not at all a case of not learning from the past; they knew exactly what they were doing, and simply went to the best place to make it happen.

The second is debatable - I wouldn't call those very near analogous, myself.

My point being that they left one system of religious oppression to impose their own, all the while claiming religious persecution, which they did, simply to persucute themselves. They didnt learn the lesson, being religious tolerance and how to live in a pluralistic society. So with respect to why some civilizations do or recreate the same BS they leave behind, it actually is a good example.

Not withstanding the technical definition of empire, the USA is one for all intents and purposes. We did conquer a whole mess of Native American nations and ripped half of Mexico from it, not to mention Lincoln destroyed the concept of federalism. So it too showcases a people leaving one system, empire, only to recreate it in a new form.

They weren't oppressed to begin with, so there was no lesson for them to learn; they just wanted to be religious oppressors and weren't allowed to do so, so went somewhere else. The "claims of religious persecution" are revisionist history from well after the fact.

As for empire: still debatable but I'm not interesting in doing so. :P You do make some good points, though.

Ah see that makes more sense, they wrested control of the empire from the previous rulers, for some reason it seemed like they had declared independence from the empire with their own

Yeah, more like a hostile takeover.

Almost like how a good number of Chinese dynasties came into power

Eyup!

Like a mixture of that plus what the Romans did. They had more Auxiliaries and Mercenaries than anything when the West fell.

Keep in mind if you don't make submissions we have very little to go on for each SotG update, everything from everyone is given a fair review.

Except from Rethan, all he submits are meal plans

Well I finally return after having had my laptop decided to finally up and die on me. Working on a temporary machine for now, thankfully almost all my notes are now on Google Docs, so I should be able to resume writing shortly. Many apologies to those who I owe posts!

Yes and no. You could theoretically go to other regions that you may find FT if you wanted, but those who are often not sure where to go head over here to TLC.

Got it.

Perseid federation

Once again, glad you could join us. Kyrusia already gave helpful links through his welcome post so feel free to check them out. :)

Oh yeah, you could contact anyone here thru TG or on the IRC if you want to have an RP with other FTers.
