No more, we say! The government may call us tax cheats, but that's just because it's afraid to call us the PATRIOTS that we are! Cut the tax rate, and we'll think about paying again."

"Citizens may feel that they need to keep all of their Petals, but the government needs it too! Without taxation, how can we build roads, schools and hospitals? How can we protect the people from themselves? We need to give the police broad powers to lay down the law on these tax-evading scum until they pay up."

You are right but I think that having people "voluntarily" donate their body parts in exchange for monetary compensation to be an evil on a while other level. Excerpt from my Factbook is a better explanation.
There are also literally hundreds of other types of programs that deal with the more mundane tasks of everyday life but with their own unique and usually malignant twists. Many of the citizens everyday lives are directly threatened by these shows and almost all employee agreements contain clauses pertaining to these possibilities as well as incentives indirectly or even directly related to specific programs.
These performance based contracts are required of almost all employees so in many an instance members of the workforce from lawyers to janitors may face death or life changing injury as a direct result of any particular job performance.
