That is wicked impressive Kaiser Wassner! We have been trying for 13 years and only when they added a new category this year did we get it. Congratulations! You nailed that one! Now, for the $64,000 Question, can you keep it? Good Luck!

Dear God, I hope so. I NEVER seem to go against inclusiveness, so I think I am in good shape.

**** New WA Resolution Notification *****

There is currently a new General Assembly Resolution at vote. When expressing your opinion, please note which Resolution it is for. And remember Texans, your individual vote does count!

The new Resolution is called:
"Preventing Animal Abuse
A resolution to restrict civil freedoms in the interest of moral decency.

Category: Moral Decency Strength: Significant Proposed by: Losthaven

Description: The Member Nations of the World Assembly:

Recognizing that animals are non-sapient, sentient beings"...

<see the General Assembly for full text and to vote>

WooHoo, a Moral Decency Resolution! This one is about nothing but blue skies and hugs and kisses and treats and regularly-scheduled veterinarian visits for Fido. How nice. Say goodbye to cockfights, dog races and giraffe jousts. Not happening. And those massive hamster wars that you used to have late Saturday nights - not happening either. The sheep catapult is right out too along with the pig launcher and the two-guinea-pigs-in-a-bazooka deal. Oh well, we can live with all that. Be mindful that if you vote against this, you are morally indecent. Hug a kitten today. NewTexas will go on record as FOR on this Resolution. We look forward to other Texans' opinions and comments on this Resolution. If good arguments to the contrary are made, we will reconsider our position.

The Texas response was almost as low as it can get on the last GA vote -- Toxic Heavy Metals Act -- which was passed after gaining 74.85% of the vote. As a reminder, all we are looking for is a simple 10% of Texans to say one way or another. We are a force for change in the WA. Every vote counts! There were 2 publicly-expressed opinions on the last Resolution with the final Texas tally running 1 FOR and 1 AGAINST and 0 ABSTAIN and 0 UNDECIDED. Texans were totally split. We exercised our delegatory tie-breaking power by voting Against.

NewTexas has already voted on this Resolution in advance of publicly expressed opinions. We did this at the urging of many leaders in the World Assembly. As we have been saying for years, Texas is a force in the WA. Many feel that Texas can influence the overall vote if it votes first. There is an observed "lemming effect" that occurs during voting. Apparently a large number of votes are cast based on whichever side of the issue is leading when voters vote. Therefore, to get the most impact from our vote, we are now voting first. We will re-evaluate our original vote at midnight prior to the current vote. As always, we are open to suggestions on how we should vote on this Resolution to most accurately reflect opinion of the populace. Comments are welcome from all nations, both WA Members as well as those who are not. Please make your voice heard on the current issue either on this message board or on our offsite message board. But, by all means, please vote on the WA Page!

If you would like to take part in shaping the world you live in, please vote. Voting is a right and a privilege, please consider using it. And, if you are not a member of the World Assembly, we strongly encourage you to join.

All WA Member nations please vote. Please make your opinions known in Texas by 11:00pm Monday and in the World Assembly voting booth by 11:00am Texas Time on Tuesday the 24th. Current voting in The World is running - Votes FOR: 6581 Votes AGAINST: 1737

PS: Remember, be sure to vote at the World Assembly too!

***** Texas Saturday Breakfast *****

Yay Saturday Breakfast Time! In honor of Pa Tex's birthday, for Texas' breakfast needs, we present his funky favorite Cinnamon Toast French Toast Saturday! This bizarre breakfast delicacy has to be tried to be believed! We have never seen anything like it before or after. This most unpretentious breakfast starts with plain ol' white bread soaked in as much egg as it will hold, and then it is fried on one side in a skillet with crazy amounts of butter. Once it is golden brown, it is flipped, covered with more butter and sprinkled generously with cinnamon sugar. Once it is browned on the other side, we slide 'em out and serve it up with plenty of bacon cooked to order. Pa Tex liked soft bacon, while we prefer crispy. You can have it either way. These suckers are unbelievable! It is hard to imagine something like this would be good and that is why we are offering it up to Texas today to expand your culinary horizons. It doesn't get much better than this! No Juice Bar today. Start your day off the right way; munch out and go back to sleep. Of course, The Never Ending Urn of Coffee is full and ready to help you wash it all down. Trust us, you are going to need it. Come on down and start your day right Texas. You know you want to!®

***** Texas Chat Reminder *****

The Texas Weekly Chat Session will be Saturday (TODAY) at High Noon Texas Time (CDT) ***Saturday***. And, if you can't be there right at Noon, that is Ok, Texas Chat usually runs 3, 4, 5 hours with some Chats running as high as 7 or 8 hours. The current record is a marathon nine hours forty three minutes!

The new Chat Site is here if you want to go straight there: http://texasregion.net/blab70/login.php Please register with your nation name. This is a great opportunity for nations old and new to Texas to find out what is going on! We chat, we debate, we talk about the weather, we talk about stuff we like, stuff we hate, random stuff and more stuff. But, it is never stuffy. Usually, it is about meeting your fellow Texans and talking about the latest and most interesting stuff in NationStates at the moment. But then again, sometimes NationStates does not even come up. It is wide-open chatting with peeps from around The World both IRL and NS. It is Texans, EuroTexans, WannabeTexans, ex-Texans and Friends of Texans. We have it all and all are welcome. Texas Chat, 590 weeks and running! For the math-challenged, that is over 11¾ years! Check it out! Good stuff!

**** New WA Resolution Notification *****

There is currently a new Security Council Resolution at vote. When expressing your opinion, please note which Resolution it is for. And remember Texans, your individual vote does count!

The new Resolution is called:
"Commend Hell
A resolution to recognize outstanding contribution by a nation or region.

Category: Commendation Nominee: Hell Proposed by: Yokiria

Description: Description: The Security Council,

Aware of the irony,

Recognizing that the founding nation of Hell"...

<see the Security Council for full text and to vote>

Man, we are a little torn on this Security Council Commendation. While we would love to see Hell Commended, we just cannot get our head around commending them for what this Resolution is presenting. Basically, it says let's commend Hell for making it a nightmare to move there. Let's commend Hell for running their potential citizens through a gauntlet that many will never survive. Let's commend Hell for being jerks and paint it like it is praiseworthy. Maybe there is an inside joke there, but we don't know and aren't commending them based on this Resolution. NewTexas will go on record as AGAINST on this Resolution. We look forward to other Texans' opinions and comments on this Resolution. If good arguments to the contrary are made, we will reconsider our position.

The Texas response was almost as low as it can get on the last SC vote -- Repeal "Condemn the Pacific" -- which was defeated after gaining only 35.15% of the vote. As a reminder, all we are looking for is a simple 10% of Texans to say one way or another. We are a force for change in the WA. Every vote counts! There were 2 publicly-expressed opinions on the last Resolution with the final Texas tally running 0 FOR and 2 AGAINST and 0 ABSTAIN and 0 UNDECIDED. Texans were unanimous! Yay!

NewTexas has already voted on this Resolution in advance of publicly expressed opinions. We did this at the urging of many leaders in the World Assembly. **** New WA Resolution Notification *****

There is currently a new General Assembly Resolution at vote. When expressing your opinion, please note which Resolution it is for. And remember Texans, your individual vote does count!

The new Resolution is called:
"Repeal "Convention on Execution"
A resolution to repeal previously passed legislation.

Category: Repeal Resolution: GA#112 Proposed by: Christian Democrats

Description: WA General Assembly Resolution #112: Convention on Execution (Category: Human Rights; Strength: Strong) shall be struck out"...

<see the General Assembly for full text and to vote>

Oh Boy! A new Repeal! When this one came around in September, 2010, Texans were all over the place with 1 form 3 against and 1 undecided. As a nation, NewTexas hated it because we did not like the WA telling us which of our citizens we can kill and which ones we cannot. That is what a repeal of this Resolution will do - leave all the decisions about capital punishment up to you. Sounds like the way it should be, right? We think so. As a reminder, the issue here is the REPEAL of the existing law. A vote AGAINST this Resolution means you are in favor of the existing law and do not want it repealed. A vote FOR this Resolution means you want the law off the books. NewTexas will go on record as FOR on this Resolution. We look forward to other Texans' opinions and comments on this Resolution. If good arguments to the contrary are made, we will reconsider our position.

The Texas response was up on the last GA vote -- Preventing Animal Abuse -- which was passed after gaining 79.88% of the vote. As a reminder, all we are looking for is a simple 10% of Texans to say one way or another. We are a force for change in the WA. Every vote counts! There were 4 publicly-expressed opinions on the last Resolution with the final Texas tally running 3 FOR and 1 AGAINST and 0 ABSTAIN and 0 UNDECIDED. Texans were almost unanimous.

Today sucks already. I found out that not only did I not get the job I was interviewed for yesterday, but Centrelink cut my payments for no reason (and for some reason took a week to tell me). So, if anyone hears explicit language coming from the direction of Melbourne this afternoon when I'm at their office, you'll know what's happening.
