**** New WA Resolution Notification *****

There is currently a new General Assembly Resolution at vote. When expressing your opinion, please note for which Resolution. And remember Texans, your individual vote does count!

The new Resolution is called:
"Repeal "International Expositions Act"
A resolution to repeal previously passed legislation.

Category: Repeal Resolution: GA#172 Proposed by: Jean Pierre Trudeau

Description: WA General Assembly Resolution #172: International Expositions Act (Category: Education and Creativity; Area of Effect: Cultural Heritage) shall be struck out"...

<see page=ga for full text>

Oh Boy, new Repeal time! We have an oldie but goodie, or baddie, depending on which side of the region you live. Wehn this one came around in November, 2011, Texans liked it by a vote of 6 for and 5 against. NewTexas did not like it one bit becuase it required you to allow every vile form of government to be able to present their ideologies in your nation under the auspicies of a travelling WA roadshow. We have been patiently waiting for this repeal. As a reminder, the issue here is the REPEAL of the existing law. A vote AGAINST this Resolution means you are in favor of the existing law and do not want it repealed. A vote FOR this Resolution means you want the law off the books. NewTexas will go on record as FOR on this Resolution. This is only the opinion of NewTexas. We look forward to other Texans' opinions and comments on this Resolution. If good arguments to the contrary are made, we will reconsider our position.

The Texas response was way up on the last GA vote -- Repeal "Prevention of Torture" -- which was defeated after gaining 19.71% of the vote. As a reminder, all we are looking for is a simple 10% of Texans to say one way or another. We are a force for change in the WA. Every vote counts! There were 10 publicly-expressed opinions on the last Resolution with the final Texas tally running 1 FOR and 8 AGAINST and 1 ABSTAIN and 0 UNDECIDED. Texans were a little split.

NewTexas has already voted on this Resolution in advance of publicly expressed opinions. We did this at the urging of many leaders in the World Assembly. As we have been saying for years, Texas is a force in the WA. Many feel that Texas can influence the overall vote if it votes first. There is an observed "lemming effect" that occurs during voting. Apparently a large number of votes are cast based on whichever side of the issue is leading when voters vote. Therefore, to get the most impact from our vote, we are now voting first. We will re-evaluate our original vote at midnight prior to the current vote. As always, we are open to suggestions on how we should vote on this Resolution to most accurately reflect opinion of the populace. Comments are welcome from all nations, both WA Members as well as those who are not. Please make your voice heard on the current issue either on this message board or on our offsite message board. But, by all means, please vote on the WA Page!

If you would like to take part in shaping the world you live in, please vote. Voting is a right and a privilege, please consider using it. And, if you are not a member of the World Assembly, we strongly encourage you to join.

All WA Member nations please vote. Please make your opinions known in Texas by 11:00pm Saturday and in the World Assembly voting booth by 11:00am Texas Time on Sunday the 29th. Current voting in The World is running - Votes FOR: 5239 Votes AGAINST: 903

***** Texas Saturday Breakfast *****

Giddyup Texans! Saturday breakfast time! Today we are pleased to present Oatmeal-A-Rama! For our health-conscious, heart-healthy Texans, we present a breakfast dedicated to one of Nature's finest grains - the oat! We will start it off with classic Oatmeal kicked up a notch. Also known as porridge, our Oatmeal is made using de-husked, rolled, flattened and lightly-toasted oats that are then boiled to tender perfection - not too mushy, not too chewy - just right. The magic starts there with the endless quantity of toppings you can add to your Oatmeal. We will be offering up a couple of pre-prepared favorites, but customization is also an option and the way many like to go. The Classic is, well, a classic with brown sugar cinnamon, butter and cream. The Pumpkin-Pie-inator has cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, and vanilla extract for a treat we bet you have never tasted before. The Apple Deluxe has diced, genuine Texas Granny Smith apples cooked in with the Oatmeal along with a splash of almond milk, a dash of maple syrup and topped off with chopped toasted pecans. Woo, that is good stuff! Our custom Oatmeal add-ons include, but are not limited to: sliced almonds, pear pieces, shredded coconut, dehydrated cranberries, dark chocolate mini-chips, chopped bacon, pepitas, dry-roasted hazelnuts, honey, ginger snaps, applesauce, pistachios, dried apricots, walnuts, raisins, banana slices, graham crackers, apple chunks, peanut butter, peach jam and maple butter. The combinations are staggering. Not into porridge? We have fresh, homemade Granola or Muesli if you want a different oat-delivery vehicle. We will also be dishing up our ever-popular Oatmeal pancakes with or without blueberries. Toasted Oatmeal bread is a meal in itself. Complimentary Oatmeal mini-muffins are on every table. Remember, Mares eat oats and does eat oats and little lambs eat ivy. Oh Boy! Oatmeal-A-Rama Shama-Lama-Ding-Dong! The Juice Bar will be open with Apple Juice and Orange Juice. Today's funky one is Pineapple-Mango Madness - sweet, tart and tangy! Start your day off the right way; munch out and go back to sleep. Of course, The Never Ending Urn of Coffee is full and ready to help you wash it all down. Texas coffee doesn't get much better. Come on down and start your day right Texas. You know you want to!®

***** Cross Regional Games - Winter Edition News *****

In the Cross Regional Games - Winter Edition over in scenic Herzil, Wysteria, Week 4 began with the first round of Figure Skating Pairs Competition! WooHootie! 70 pairs of sk8ters from six different regions around The World skated like the very Devil himself was fiddling and watching and waiting. One of the skaters from Zedale was his first victim after she pirouetted all the way through the ice and was never seen again. Somewhere, someone was smirking. The Team Texas delegation, with 7 sk8ting pairs, did well sending 4 to the second round. That round was a much tougher skate. Buffy & Nina from Team NewTexas crashed and burned when they crashed into each other during their spectacular Dueling Death Spirals of Doom. Only Bones McCoy & Nurse Chapel of Star Trek advanced to the third round. Alas, the Doctor and his Nurse were not nearly as technical as the other skaters and could just not keep up and Texas failed to medal. The Gold and Silver went to Wysteria and the Bronze went to 10000 Islands.

The final event wrapping this week was Alpinism, also know as Mountaineering. Texans did not fare well in this event with only the Red Gators of Trecdom2 reaching Brosh Peaks in Herzil. Only 9 teams received a Medal of Participation in the grueling event marked by much death and destruction.

In the Final Standings, Texas took two medals - Lt. Uhura of Star Trek, our Ambassador to Wysteria, took Silver in the Giant Slalom and Shoni zh'Shari of with the Andor Empire, our Ambassador to Spiritus. It was not our finest hour, nor was it our worst.

We will repeat our sentiments from last week about these Games - Herzil deserves Gold-rimmed Platinum Medal just for hosting all these events! Our cowboy hat is off to them! Kudos! * bows *

**** New WA Resolution Notification *****

<see page=sc for full text>

Ut-Oh! Somebody claiming to have been around for 10 years, yet hiding behind a brand-spanking new puppet, is throwing a brand-spanking new region into the lion's den for a Commendation. The author wants us to believe that a 50 day-old region is worthy of a commendation despite the fact that the odds say they probably won't be around in another 50 days. We think they are probably a fine region, but we are just not willing to Commend a new region. Not only does it set a dangerous precedent, we think they need to spend the time earning their commendation. NewTexas will go on record as AGAINST on this Resolution. This is only the opinion of NewTexas. We look forward to other Texans' opinions and comments on this Resolution. If good arguments to the contrary are made, we will reconsider our position.

Ugh! This one has barely been repealed two weeks and it is back. Sheesh! Shouldn't there be a mandatory period of celebration? While this one is not as bad as the last one, it is still another WA bureaucracy that could call on resources in your nation to provide countless and countless reams of information. Now, before anyone thinks the World Assembly is going to require you to turn over sensitive information, it is clear that the scope is only the stated "publicly available scientific literature". The WA is just being lazy and not collecting this information itself and is requiring nations provide it on demand. While we are less-than-thrilled at this one, we do see value.
