I thought you were already well in excess of the maximum safe dosage; perhaps that's why we've had 5 nations CTE on us in the last three days or so....

and, can i know your answer to your own question?

Generally, I consider the government that governs the least possible while still detering domestic and foreign attacks. Logging in our best best and brightest to take care of the problems seems to me to be the best solution to intercepting terrorist attacks being planned or initiated. The current practice of logging every movement or transaction of every citizen seems to me to be excessive overkill. With so many data points to connect, connecting the dots seems virtually impossible. Limiting the data collection to targeted known or suspected criminals seems much more effective that doing it for everyone. It seems to me that tax dollars are best spent on educating the young, addressing the needs of the sick and disabled, and protecting all of us from foreign and domestic enemies should be the core of the governmental interests.

There are muffins and mimosas on the porch of the embassy, should anyone want some. Also hugs.

Fifth jerusalem

I guess my primitive people in Fifth Jerusalem enjoy being told to be happy.

Veritaria in vino veritas ^_^

"Convention on Fracking" was defeated 5,773 votes to 3,174. With the rest of the region's voters thus far, I have voted for the current GA resolution. I agree with its aim of removing superfluous legislation.

Scary mary the hairy fairy

My first '1st' in the region! The shiny badge looks great on my nation profile. *does the happy dance*

Yes, and since the region has more than a hundred members, it's a GOLDEN trophy and you were eligible for (and got!) a world top 1% trophy. Poor NW Hell will have to be content with #2 in the region, just as he did to Lorettastan, who has fallen to a new low of #3. :)

A hearty welcome to P115 for New union of cation!

So you're an ion with a net positive charge, eh? Does that mean you will be bringing us muffins and coffee? ;) Or have you merged with an anion and are neutral again?

Cream sherry, anyone? :D

The current recruitment campaign has been running since 17 July 2014:

Total Telegrams Sent: 1826
Recruited Nations: 7
Pending Recruits: 0
Recruited & Deceased: 0

Needless to say, I'm very pleased with the numbers.

I'll just set out some yogurt so we can all acquire some culture.

Congratulations!

To think I used to do that manually back in the old days. I'd spot a likely Scandinavian Liberal Paradise newbie in one of the Pacifics and write a personalised telegram from scratch each time. Can you imagine! This is circa 2004-07 when I was recruiter for a region not my own. It was hard work but paid off.

The situation then seemed to change. Most of the newbies were now puppets already with a designated home. Nudist Dreamland, founded by me seven years ago, has never tried to recruit. Not worth it, and I'm not technologically up to this new system you're using!

The number of telegrams that have to be sent now is incredible, but to attract real new arrivals in this day and age is impressive. Great stuff!

"Commend Sciongrad" was defeated 5,479 votes to 2,454. I have voted against "Repeal 'Condemn NAZI EUROPE.'" That region may have been defeated, but its history remains worthy of condemnation.

Good afternoon everyone dang its hot.......but it is summer so to be expected. Hope everyone is doing well

Welcome to P115, New seldon!

I went racing with Hoosier daddies and the rest of Team 65 Saturday. THAT was hot, 95F or so, no A/C breaks, no break from the heat at all until the sun went down and it cooled off 10-15 degrees. Our driver started third and finished third, his best finish all season. We haven't gotten much hotter than 90F at the beach, thankfully. Still, you are right, Pirate kitty, one has to expect it to be hot in the summer time.

Sunrise from the Sea, Veritaria is the technological wizard behind our use of NS++. If you ask him nicely, he might be willing to set up Nudist Dreamland, although IMHO it's perfect like it is.

I have little sympathy for Nazis generally and Nazi Europe specifically. I will throw out there the assertion that evil is ultimately ontologically self-destructive. Debate that if you want. :)

Discoveria wrote:I dispute the objection on lack of public harm. Racism and other forms of discrimination harm public life and communities. They foster hostility and undermine participation in society and in politics. So actually states have a lot of good reasons to intervene to discourage discrimination, including discrimination by private citizens and businesses. Also, in my personal experience, I've found racist abuse to be harmful on a personal level and through its effects on my perception of society and willingness to engage in public life.

I find anti-racism tends to be highly subjective, inhibits freedom of expression & creativity and can also restrict participation in public life to conformists. All those can cause extensive public harm & restrict progress. In my experience the execution of racist & anti-racist policies have harmed me personally to about an equal extent. I fail to see how not baking someone a cake is public harm. I do see how allowing someone to appear on national television bearing anti-white messages and even comment how nice he and his wife is public harm. however one act is being highly publicized while the other and others like it is ignored. And once again local communities can do what they want. Why is the state and fed trying to involve themselves in everything.

I wasn't talking about anarchy per se. Just stated you don't need an omnipresent government. I think current educational systems teach people how to conform to a certain base system but not how to deal with situations outside the system. I think most people lack the necessary education to "live" so a certain level of government above what I would perceive as even approaching an ideal is justified, only if the primary goal is to establish an educational foundation that can provide citizens what they need to learn in order to survive. I also think if people were educated enough that sort of racism wouldn't fly. I don't agree that inhibiting people's ability to express themselves is ever a better alternative than giving people freedom as long as it isn't physical harm. You can't have the government propping everyone up. Where does it say that life is fair? Everywhere around the universe it screams it isn't fair as far as individual entities are concerned. The more people realize that and prepare themselves for it (rather than seek gov support) the closer we are as a people to becoming a true communal organism.

On philosophers: I didn't mean to imply irrationality in their actions in regard to publishing their remarks and ideas, I meant it in their day to day speech and how that would have been perceived by their contemporaries. It wasn't like these ideas of theirs were tightly locked up until published, especially since most of the ancient philosophers didn't write down anything (some by their own design understanding the limitations and faults underlying the written word). You really think the run of their contemporaries they spoke to appreciated their "illuminating" views? It seemed a trend that many of the most ancient had a reputation for being irascible. Just the things they would say must have raised some eyebrows to say the least. I mean I am not going to think so many of them left their original cities to go on a lark. A lot seemed to have migrated for "political reasons" not the least of which was the likely fact they couldn't keep their moths shut.

Socrates seems to have offered himself as a sort of sacrificial lamb to save his remaining students. I don't think the actions of Alcibiades or Xenophon particularly endeared them to Socrates besides his deriding his fellow citizens (telling your fellow citizens they lack the wit to govern themselves doesn't win you popularity contests). Of course all this is hearsay since we only have what others said to go on. I think if he would have escaped the Athenians that once he gave them a pretext (Xenophon could have provided one a few years later) and they likely would have went on a pogrom similar to the one in Rome almost three hundred years later. But it does ring true with several others. And wasn't either Descartes or Voltaire exiled from both England and France? You got to have an acidic tongue to pull that off, IMO.
