I think I'd attribute my massive IT sector to the fact literally everything possible that can be digitised, is digitised in my government. What's that? A company needs a social security number from you? Give them a specially generated code that only works for them. Going to see a doctor? With a scan of your fingerprint they have access to all of your medical records. Driver's licence? We don't make you carry an extra card, just show your ID and the computer automatically says what licences you have. Voting? No need to look through stupid rolls, you don't even need to enrol, you just show up, swipe your ID and fingerprint, then vote! You can also do everything to do with the government online using an optional biometric USB key.
