Occitania Regional Message Board

Schwabenreich is a founding member of the Imperial Matrix, but not of the region.

I didn't realize that so few of us, founders, were left.

Occitania, was always a semi-autonomous region and political and economic union under the European Union. We follow the EU practices unless we change them by a vote in the Imperial Matrix.

That makes sense. Occitania must have laws and regulations to start from. We can always make changes.

We still don't have Haldasia, Albensburg and Hochsauerland agreeing on and submitting anything.

I am on board with the plan Haldasia outlined a few days ago (shown below). If Hochsauerland is okay with it too, we can submit to the Imperial Matrix for a vote.

The Imperial Nation of Haldasia wrote:
I do believe we have a fairly good plan for refugee handling. I believe the final version should be as such: 1 in 20 cars thoroughly checked at the border, based off of passport, temporary housing set up, establish help for finding jobs and permanent residence. Each nation takes a percentage based off of their population percentage of Occitania. How each nation sets up these temporary housings is up to them but should follow a minimum health and livability standard.

I would also like to thank all the nations who submitted ideas for how to handle the refugee crisis.

The border lies primarily at Messini and a few Mediterranean members, Porto Maurizio, Catalpa, Girona, Aix-En-Provence, Narbonne, etc... I advocate for most of the money for border checks in those nations, especially Messini.

To Albensburg and Haldasia: If we check cars, why not check all, vehicles? The entry is Messini, and Mediterranean members, so it would limited to those areas. If the temporary housing and the time of unemployment includes a financial and medical assistance as I outlined, I am on board. If not, we have to discuss until we agree. All of Occitania must agree to one immigration/refugee policy.

Lower Galilee will contribute a $300 million OEs but will only take a very limited number of refugees for obvious reasons.

You're right about the vehicle vs. car thing, Hochsauerland. It should be 1 in 20 vehicles, not just cars. Medical and financial assistance should never be more or better than what each country offers. Therefore, I feel that it shouldn't be one fixed amount but the equivalent unemployment and healthcare that citizens receive. But I also don't believe that non citizens should indefinitely receive handouts from Occitan nations without contributing back to their country. I believe there should be a timeframe for them to either pay taxes, become citizens, or stop receiving benefits.

To Haldasia: ALL incoming vehicles, at border entry points, ALL mediterranean member nations; Messini, Porto Maurizio, Narbonne Sur Le Mer, Aix-En-Provence, Comtes Unis de Hyeres, Catalpha, and Girona. I agree with everything you said, I laid out a detailed plan 19 days ago;

I feel a more official temporary refugee status be implemented. A "Occitan Residency Card" or a "Occitan Citizenship Card" will be required of everyone who lives in Occitania and issued by any member Occitan member nation. With an official "temporary resident" status for 1 year until security clearances have been secured. With this, each person would receive 300 OE, healthcare, education (for minor children under 18), housing and in exchange must work for the municipality in which they reside. After the first year and security clearances have passed, and without criminal violations, a refugee may apply for "limited residency" status, lasting 5 years, with reduced financial aid of 150 OE per person. After 6 years, showing proof of full-time employment, and no criminal violations, a refugee may finally apply for full Occitan "citizenship" and must apply and qualify for financial and medical aid. This would be the only way for any refugee to be "legally" identified and have access to services and employment.

Under no circumstance should anyone in our region be searched or home and motor vehicle be searched, UNLESS, under urgent, unlawful, or suspicious cases, by the police, or military personnel - the OG, the Occitan Guard or the ROF, Royal Occitan Forces.

This is my recommendation.

And there was disagreement with that recommendation, mainly the long wait for citizenship. I will agree with the one year temp status, but after that I feel that the refugees should be allowed to become citizens. And there is no need for a monetary supplement if they are working.
