The most dangerous couple in the Philippines:
Many years ago, communist leaders—and husband and wife—Benito and Wilma Tiamzon spent the entirety of their young lives on the run or in jail. Now out on bail under President Duterte’s administration as representatives of the communist party in the peace talks, the couple opens up—for the very first time—about how they managed life on the lam, having children (identities secret) in between missions, and making their 43-year relationship work even with prison walls and bars between them.

US election campaign reveals mass alienation from two-party system

Documents the disgust of the American people with the 2016 election campaign and their alienation from the two major corporate-controlled parties. By a margin of 82 percent to 13 percent, better than six to one, those polled said the campaigns of both Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump have filled them with revulsion.

According to the Times account, “With more than eight in ten voters saying the campaign has left them repulsed rather than excited, the rising toxicity threatens the ultimate victor. Mrs. Clinton, the Democratic candidate, and Mr. Trump, the Republican nominee, are seen as dishonest and viewed unfavorably by a majority of voters.”
Both campaigns insult the intelligence of the American people. Trump appeals to raw anger, denouncing his opponent as a criminal who should be put in jail. Clinton and the Democrats alternate between portraying Trump as a sexual predator and smearing him as a tool of Moscow. Neither offers any serious program for improving the living standards and social conditions of the working class, the vast majority of the American people.

The election campaign is one more sign of the profound dysfunction of the US political system, in which two corporate-controlled parties, each defending the interests of the super-rich, enjoy a political monopoly. The Times/CBS poll is a statistical verification of what the Socialist Equality Party and the World Socialist Web Site have long argued: the two-party system leaves working people disenfranchised.

State planning in the Soviet Union

V Ming, Marxist-Feminists
March 21 2014

When a traveler begins a journey they may begin it in several ways. They may just "up and walk out the door" and meet whatever may face them or they may meticulously plan their trip.

A nations economy is very similar. If an economy is chaotic and unscientific it will give way to unexpected crisis and recession, as well as the gigantic leaps into progress. An economy that is planned according to a scientific based plan confidently marches from one goal to the next without crisis and bursting bubbles of activity.

During the Bolshevik revolution it was devised that a people should not be like an uncaring traveler unworried about the dangers of their travel, that a planned and careful approach was the only way to direct a nations economy after the socialist revolution.

In the post Soviet world the socialist planned economy is slandered frequently, even by so called "leftists". They demand "full, democratic, decentralized, workers control" to consider something to be "socialist" in economic nature - this is a good goal in an industrialized nation, but it doesn't recognize the reality of the pre-WWII era. These are the same first world "Marxists" who live in the comforts of a highly industrialized, exploitative society a world away from the realities of the past. They state that the USSR was a "failed/deformed workers state" because of centralized economic control

In truth most of the world can't handle this privileged first world definition of socialism. If this was to happen in China in 1949 there would be no advancement at all today due to the complexity of 1 billion people and local planning of "no heavy industry". No "thing" is strong or wealthy enough to build industry like the centrally planned socialist economy (state) - except perhaps a bourgeois "free market"(capitalist company or corporation) and none of us want that *cough China cough*.

Tsarist rule, Revolution

The Bolshevik government inherited a terrible mess from Tsarist rule, anyone who tells you that the capitalist economy under the Tsar was better is a flat out liar. Russia was so backward and poor it had to import ordinary nails and sickles! Russia's share in the world's industrial production was just over 4%. Per capita industrial production in Russia was 1/14 of Britian, 1/13th of Germany and 1/21 of that in the United States.

Foreign capital dominated key sectors of the Russian economy French Belgian and German capitalists owned the biggest plants, factories and mines. They fixed prices and wages in their own interests and ruthlessly exploited the Russian workers.Old outdated equipment was used because it was cheaper to hire more labour than invest in new machines, workers worked 12-14-16 hour days - afraid for their lives to protest!

When the workers state took control on 1917 the workers had one determined goal - to catch up. Industrialization was an important key to growth and progress, it wasn't "Stalin's murderous drive" it was a national demand, a whole uprising! Slave labour did not bring the Soviet Union from the plow to the nuclear age in 30 years using an outdated form of production such as slavery! No! Nothing but socialism and the planned socialist economy could be so advanced.

It was heavy on the backs of the people but the progress was incredible. Today in Russia, Stalin's name is met with love and affection, the people know why he was so important, why it was imperative for the Soviet Union to stay on track, on Lenin's path, on the path of revolutionary proletarian vanguard. Only the communist party, with its millions of class conscious workers leading its polices, its progress, its direction forward, were capable of such a feat. Who can deny that Stalin democratically opened up the party to the millions of revolutionary masses? (In 1918 Party membership stood at approximately 200,000 - By 1933, the party had approximately 3.5 million members)

The first five year plan

In May 1929 the 5th congress of Soviets was convened in Moscow, the delegates were to approve the first five year plan.

The first five year plan was fulfilled ahead of schedule, in 4 years and three months. In those four years annual production of electric power rose 170%, Natural gas 230%, Oil 80%, mineral fertilizer 580% and cement 90%. Fixed assets in iron and steel doubled, 40 blast furnaces, 66 open hearth furnaces and 27 rolling mills were commissioned by the state. In 1931 80% of all tractors were imported into the nation, just one year later that stopped as tractors came of the production lines at the Stalingrad and Kharkov plants.

Industrialization demanded a ton of money, this money was not easy to get, in the capitalist nations the bourgeoisie built their nations wealth on the backs of the poor working class and by plundering colonies. Since the Soviet Union used the planned socialistic economy it had options that weren't there for any other nation. Accumulation was obtained through the surplus value created by the workers, then funneled into the state to be distributed where state planning agencies directed production - to achieve industrialization. Not all surplus value was used this way and the reputation of the Soviet Union to bring its people out of poverty and increase their living conditions needs no explanation here.

The introduction of collective farms allowed peasants to use tractors to farm the land, unlike before when most had been too poor to own a tractor. Government owned Machine and Tractor Stations were set up throughout the USSR and peasants were allowed to use these public tractors to farm the land, increasing the food output per peasant

War

The Soviet victory over Nazi Germany in WWII was costly. The war took 20 million Soviet lives, made 25 million people homeless and thousands of plants, factories, power stations and mines were completely destroyed. Collective farm fields looks like deserts, no seed, no agricultural machines and no cattle. The fascist hordes had destroyed the most advanced sections of the USSR 31,850 industrial enterprises had been demolished. The Union's total losses amounted to 260 thousand million rubles, this was 14 times higher than total national revenues in the 1940 budget.

Some western analysts suggested that the Soviet Union had ceased to be a world power and would take over 20 years just to rebuild to prewar levels. Production in pig iron in 1945 was 59% of that in 1940, steel 66%, rolled metal 65%, oil 62% and tractors 25% - this was how the war ravaged a seemingly unstoppable economy. The west was in no hurry to help either, at this time it takes advantage of the Soviet Union's position and begins a cold war of sanctions and economic blockade.

Reconstruction during the 'cold war'

In 1946 the USSR supreme Soviet adopted a five year plan for economic restoration and development. the main target was to repair the war ravaged economy to surpass the 1940 level. By taking advantage of its socialist economic system and the experience already gained in bringing Russia out of backwardness prewar, the Soviet Union began on reconstruction. It was difficult at first trying to rearrange the economy from a war economy to one of peace, there were shortages in consumer goods and dwellings as well as difficulties in agriculture were made worse by the severe drought of 1946.

Post war planned industrial production was a major success. Russia was becoming compared with the United States the worlds largest producer of agricultural and industrial commodities. In 1950 industrial production in Russia was 30% of that of the U.S. (after the war ravaged industry), in 1957 it was 47% and in 1965 it had reached 65% - all this from a nation that imported iron nails (!) not 50 years ago! With the shortage of men after the war women played a massive part in the reconstruction of the economy

Space and progress

On a date that took the world by storm, October 4 1957 the Soviet Union launched the world's first satellite, not 40 years earlier bankrupt and broke the peasants and workers seized the government and the economy. Anyone who could doubt the socialist planned economy was now forced to see with their own eyes the miracles of socialist planning. Gender parity in the USSR was extraordinary and in 1962 Valentina Tereshkova was the first woman in space. (meanwhile in the United States the equal pay act was enacted because women earned only 59 cents for every dollar paid to men.)

The industrialization of the Soviet Union was a success to say the least. The backward country of Russia had come full circle - all this in the face of criticisms now and then that "the socialist economy doesn't work". Over the 70 year period of the USSR several models of economics were used. So when we hear the detractors of the socialist system what do we ask them? Was it Lenin's NEP that failed? Stalin's industrialization? Khrushchev's agricultural reforms? Because the "socialist planned economy" had many different facets at many different times in history - the one thing all periods of planned economics have in common (when left in peace) is the gradual progressive advancement for mankind in living conditions and technology and a general betterment for all.

Compared to capitalism

All of this simply cannot be said about capitalism and I need not cite more than the 1929 crisis or 2008 global economic crisis, both of which saw the reversal of living conditions for millions of people all over the capitalist world. Job losses, foreclosures on homes, and private companies being "bailed out" by public money, the peoples money.

The sheer amount of time and oppression that it took for capitalism to industrialize (200 years in Europe) should be a note worth taking, as Britain had stole from its colonies and when Germany defeated France in 1870 it procured 5,000 million Francs and Alsace-Lorraine territories, extremely rich in mineral deposits. Black slavery brought up America, until the slave masters became the bankers. How any rational thinker, educated person in history, can promote capitalism in this day and age is beyond me.

Not any response by the Nepalese Maoist Parties:
The current situation faced by the Nepalese Maoist Movement has become the matter of concern and curiosity for all-inside the country and abroad. These days, everyone is asking a question—what the Nepalese Maoists are doing? Are they still at the crossroads or they are heading towards somewhere? It is not the matter to cover up, frankly I would like to say that, at present, Nepalese Maoist Movement is critically suffered and struggling for its existence.

It doesn't have to be that way, let's hope something radically changes the American class consciousness to the left before 4 years is up. :)

IDK, the Current US election could not be anymore of a fraud that it is today, a Qusi-Fascist Bissnessman and an international war criminal and mass murderer, communists in America should get off the "Anything but Trump" bandwagon and stop mounting about muh Burnie Sanders and use this time to organize, seize this opportunity to build up their organizations and press for Revolutionary Change.

Marxist-feminists

The bar is even lower than I thought. While I know it almost fundamentally doesnt matter which candidate was elected, I still am so unbelievably revolted and horrified. Democrats played hard on identity politics, winning the women vote, the Latino vote, the black vote, Donald Trump managed to tap into an angry white proletariat and played racism and class politics. Liberals are going to need to do a lot of self examination. Prepare for struggle comrades.

It Will Not Fall Unless You Hit It:
In Austin as well as in the US in general we have seen a rise in what we understand as fascist populism, which has mobilized and embarked on increasingly bold actions in response to local and countrywide conditions. This rise in right-wing and fascist visibility must not be misunderstood or deliberately misrepresented if we wish to combat it seriously. So our point of departure must be to answer the first question: what is fascism? Where does it come from and why does it emerge? What does it look like as a popular movement that has yet to gain power? Fascism is not simply vocal people with bad ideas (though they most often are both); fascism does not fall from the sky or just spring into being in ignorant minds.

On the bright side this could be the end of the "Asia Pacific pivot" and 4 years of a winding down of predatory imperialist actions in and around the Middle East and Syria.

I'd like to think of a Trump victory as not a victory for the extreme right but instead a failure for capitalist neo-liberalism and the status quo.

Looking at the markets the corporate bourgeoisie seem terrified "Dow drops 1,000 points".

From where I stand, America doesn't see what Trump "is" they just think they know what he "isn't".

Again it's all silly, a millionaire or billionaire and 25% of the population survives on food stamps.

Yeah that's true I just think that people will start to realize that liberalism can't protect them from neo-fascism anymore. I never really believed in accelerationist theory but I do now because people will realize that Trump cannot provide for the wellbeing of the people as he claims within a capitalist apparatus. Liberalism is a slow death and I believe this neo-fascism will bring the divisions of the people to new, unprecedented levels. Perhaps this will fuel support for revolutionary politics and movements. The Bernie Sanders campaign should tell you something about the mainstreaming of a supposedly more left alternative.

I am announcing a work for our region that I would like us to undertake and achieve. I would like us to create a comprehensive factbook with good socialist parties in various countries. It is time to mobilize harder than we ever have before. I am going to create a base structure for this and I welcome and beg fellow comrades with knowledge of parties in their area or country to send me more information. Factbook will be here:

Are you new to socialism or dont know how to get involved or where to start? This list is meant to provide a base for the new activist in putting their feet in the water of the struggle. If you have information to add to this please message me with it.

Why the White Working Class Rebelled: Neoliberalism is Killing Them (Literally):
The Democratic Party has been the Establishment for eight years, and the Clintons have arguably been the Establishment for 24 years. Since the late 1990s, members of the white working class with high school or less have seen their life-chances radically decline, even to the point where they are dying at much higher rates than they have a right to expect.

There's a reason for this, there's a reason education sucks, and it's the same reason it will never ever ever be fixed. It's never going to get any better. Don't look for it. Be happy with what you've got... because the owners of this country don’t want that. I'm talking about the real owners now... the real owners. The big wealthy business interests that control things and make all the important decisions. Forget the politicians. The politicians are put there to give you the idea that you have freedom of choice. You don’t. You have no choice. You have owners. They own you. They own everything. They own all the important land. They own and control the corporations. They’ve long since bought and paid for the Senate, the Congress, the state houses, the city halls. They got the judges in their back pockets and they own all the big media companies, so they control just about all of the news and information you get to hear. They got you by the balls. They spend billions of dollars every year lobbying. Lobbying to get what they want. Well, we know what they want. They want more for themselves and less for everybody else, but I’ll tell you what they don’t want. They don’t want a population of citizens capable of critical thinking. They don’t want well-informed, well-educated people capable of critical thinking. They’re not interested in that. That doesn’t help them. That’s against their interests. That’s right.

They don’t want people who are smart enough to sit around a kitchen table and think about how badly they’re getting f*cked by a system that threw them overboard 30 f*ckin’ years ago. They don’t want that. You know what they want? They want obedient workers. Obedient workers, people who are just smart enough to run the machines and do the paperwork. And just dumb enough to passively accept all these increasingly sh*ttier jobs with the lower pay, the longer hours, the reduced benefits, the end of overtime and vanishing pension that disappears the minute you go to collect it. And now they’re coming for your Social Security money. They want your f*ckin' retirement money. They want it back so they can give it to their criminal friends on Wall Street. And you know something? They’ll get it. They’ll get it all from you sooner or later 'cause they own this f*ckin' place. It’s a big club and you ain't in it. You and I are not in the big club. ...The table is tilted, folks. The game is rigged and nobody seems to notice. ...And nobody seems to notice. Nobody seems to care. That’s what the owners count on. The fact that Americans will probably remain willfully ignorant of the big red, white and blue dick that’s being jammed up their assholes every day, because the owners of this country know the truth. It’s called the American Dream, 'cause you have to be asleep to believe it.

In American classrooms, skills such as critical thinking are not taught. In American history classes, problems are swept under the rug. When I had these kinds of classes, we didn't even have debates. They taught how "Merica" was the most perfect nation ever. They said that nothing needed to change. They even brushed over large parts of history, especially Japanese internment camps.

This is just one way to keep people form thinking for themselves.

I understand that. I used to be a history nerd throughout school and was the only one in the class, every single year that actually voiced his opinion and was actually happy to attend that class. I wanted to learn in that class. Everyone else either kept quiet or didn't have any energy, because they weren't there to learn. I remember one year I basically helped teach the class everyday, debated the teacher, and another even agreed on many things (he was socialist and part of the teachers union). I also used to go to the back of every text book and read definitions. The circulum was designed to stop critical thought in its tracks. And I was the only that one noticing it but cared to put out my opinions and ideas mostly everyday. Lol one day the class nominated me to teach the class on the soviet union. KKK plans rallies to celebrate Trumps presidency

One of the largest Ku Klux Klan groups in the country has announced a parade to celebrate President-elect Donald Trump's win.

The Loyal White Knights of Pelham, N.C., says on its website that its parade will take place on Dec. 3.

"TRUMP = TRUMP'S RACE UNITED MY PEOPLE," says the website's front page.

No time or location for the event is listed, and a phone call to the number on its website was not returned.

The group has between 150 and 200 members and is "perhaps the most active Klan group in the United States today," according to the Anti-Defamation League. Last year, it was part of a South Carolina protest against the Confederate flag's removal from the state Capitol.

Several Klan groups endorsed Trump. Well-known former Klan leader David Duke, who on Tuesday lost a Senate bid in Louisiana, was also a vocal supporter.

The Trump campaign was criticized this year for initially refusing to denounce support from the Klan. Later, the campaign described the Klan's efforts as "repulsive."

Your time is history class is incredibly similar to mine, not scared to voice my opinion, however my history teacher is an Anti-Communist, so when I do, I try to not be too overt in my far left positions, aka not quoting J.V.Stalin if you know what I mean.

I was the same way, comrade. Hell I still am a history nerd. During my senior year of high school our last big project was a research paper over a "controversial" issue. Mine was over Stalinism, ha. The teacher was quite shocked.

The Big Split:
Trump was the perfect wrong play, wrong director, wrong cast. And he won. Springtime for Hitler is a hit. But something happened during the last month of this election. I suspect Clinton had it won after the first debate. So, how and why did the DNC clutch defeat from the jaws of victory? The answer is more complex than one can fully evaluate and dissect this soon, but one clear element is that much of that corporate wealth that owns America turned, finally, on Clinton.

November 11: Remembrance Day/Veterans Day

Today we remember the real heroes of war, women and children, the disabled and elderly - those who had no choice in the empires wars. Those who bore the heaviest burden of losing their homes and lives, husbands and fathers, mothers and daughters.

Today we stand against the wars of empire as we did in 1917 when we demanded peace and bread. We remember our comrades who died trying to stop the slaughter of working people, our brothers and sisters.

We remember our red flag, the blood that was spilled to color it, we hold the hammer and sickle and smash the guns turned on us to scrap metal. We stand tall with our demands for peace and know that only the end of capital will end the wars for profit and plunder.

We stand in solidarity with the working poor, the downtrodden and refuse to stand by idle while empire uses them as cannon fodder.

The Internationale

Stand up all victims of oppression
For the tyrants fear your might
Don't cling so hard to your possessions
For you have nothing if you have no rights
Let racist ignorance be ended
For respect makes the empires fall
Freedom is merely privilege extended
Unless enjoyed by one and all

So come brothers and sisters
For the struggle carries on
The internationale
Unites the world in song
So comrades come rally
For this is the time and place
The international ideal
Unites the human race"

Here in Australia on Remembrance day we had it dedicated to the fallen of the Vietnam War, and I couldn't not but be annoyed with it because we had all these parades and celebrations for a war that, 1. Australia should not have been involved in, 2. Was an unjust war of aggression against the People of Vietnam and 3. The largely unnecessary death and/or trumiziation countless Australian Soldiers.
Hell my father who fort in Vietnam agrees that we should not of gone, he was drafted, he even told me about how hard it was to reintegrate into normal Civilian Life and how he almost committed Suicide.
How much I despise the Australian government for getting us involved in these wars, and treating to veterans like they are nothing when they got home.
