The current WA Resolution, Repeal "Reproductive Freedoms" has been posted on our off-site forums at:

http://www.runboard.com/bnationstates.f2.t83752

GENERAL ASSEMBLY RESOLUTION AT VOTE

Repeal "Reproductive Freedoms"

A resolution to repeal previously passed legislation.

Category: Repeal

Resolution: GA#286

Proposed by: Sciongrad

Description: WA General Assembly Resolution #286: Reproductive Freedoms (Category: Human Rights; Strength: Significant) shall be struck out and rendered null and void.

Argument: The General Assembly,

Affirming its recognition of reproductive rights and its responsibility to protect these rights,

Mindful, however, that there are reasonable and relevant interests in reducing abortions in certain circumstances that are prohibited by GAR#286 absolutely,

Regretting that GAR#286 prevents meaningful and necessary action against sex-selective abortion - a practice that often leads to crippling imbalances in gender demographics and exacerbates social gender inequality - undermining its enduring commitment to promoting social equality,

Understanding that the notion of terminating pregnancies up until the infant is birthed, which is permitted by GAR#286, poses a serious and legitimate ethical concern to many member nations,

Regarding GAR#286 as an immature and reckless exercise of World Assembly authority that does not reflect the legitimate underpinnings behind the right to reproductive choice,

Believing that such a radical approach to an issue as sensitive and divisive as reproductive choice is inconsistent with its extant commitment towards international cooperation,

Desiring a more moderate and refined approach to reproductive rights,

Hereby repeals GAR#286, "Reproductive Freedoms."

GENERAL ASSEMBLY RESOLUTION # 286

Reproductive Freedoms

A resolution to improve worldwide human and civil rights.

Category: Human Rights

Strength: Significant

Proposed by: Eireann fae

Description: BELIEVING in the reproductive rights of all individuals,

ACKNOWLEDGING that individuals may have cultural or religious misgivings regarding termination of pregnancy,

BEMOANING the fact that some nations codify such misgivings without regard for the freedom of the individuals to choose,

YEARNING to put the choice of whether or not to give birth firmly in the control of each individual;

THE WORLD ASSEMBLY

RECOGNISES that the termination of pregnancy is a medical procedure, with all the rights and protections afforded to such a practice,

MANDATES that Member Nations recognise the right of all individuals to have their pregnancies terminated through safe, openly accessible procedures,

DEMANDS that Member Nations prohibit any impediment to the termination of pregnancy that is not applied to medical procedures of similar risk and complexity,

REQUIRES Member Nations to ensure protection from targeted animosity to providers and patients of the procedures covered by this resolution,

PERMITS Member Nations to enact policies encouraging individuals to allow live delivery of their offspring, provided such policies do not ultimately hinder the individual from terminating their pregnancy,

SUGGESTS that Member Nations encouraging live deliveries take unwanted offspring into their own care.

Votes For: 7,786 (68%)
Votes Against: 3,649 (32%)

Implemented: Sat Mar 1 2014

Initially Mikeswill voted for the World Assembly Resolution "Reproductive Freedoms" and amongst NationStates residents, voting is currently 18-0 (100% For). Further, two other Repeals have been voted down.

The ancient Masters were profound and subtle.
Their wisdom was unfathomable.
There is no way to describe it;
all we can describe is their appearance.

They were careful
as someone crossing an iced-over stream.
Alert as a warrior in enemy territory.
Courteous as a guest.
Fluid as melting ice.
Shapable as a block of wood.
Receptive as a valley.
Clear as a glass of water.

Do you have the patience to wait
till your mud settles and the water is clear?
Can you remain unmoving
till the right action arises by itself?

The Master doesn't seek fulfillment.
Not seeking, not expecting,
she is present, and can welcome all things.

I will choose to extract organs from dead people to save lives of patients needing a transplant instead of NOT doing so in the name of civil rights anytime.

Empty your mind of all thoughts.
Let your heart be at peace.
Watch the turmoil of beings,
but contemplate their return.

Each separate being in the universe
returns to the common source.
Returning to the source is serenity.

If you don't realize the source,
you stumble in confusion and sorrow.
When you realize where you come from,
you naturally become tolerant,
disinterested, amused,
kindhearted as a grandmother,
dignified as a king.
Immersed in the wonder of the Tao,
you can deal with whatever life brings you,
and when death comes, you are ready.

Why? Do you for some reason NEED your organs after you die, and dont want them to get used to save anothers?

Just because you don't have a problem having your organs thrown around like candy after you're dead, doesn't mean everybody else doesn't too.

Eh, in some cultures and religious groups it's considered sacrilege or or taboo to do stuff like that. It might not strictly be against a religion but some people interpret religious laws differently.

"Gimme Shelter"

Oh, a storm is threat'ning
My very life today
If I don't get some shelter
Oh yeah, I'm gonna fade away
War, children, it's just a shot away
It's just a shot away
War, children, it's just a shot away
It's just a shot away
Ooh, see the fire is sweepin'
Our very street today
Burns like a red coal carpet
Mad bull lost your way
War, children, it's just a shot away
It's just a shot away
War, children, it's just a shot away
It's just a shot away
Rape, murder!
It's just a shot away
It's just a shot away
Rape, murder!
It's just a shot away
It's just a shot away
Rape, murder!
It's just a shot away
It's just a shot away
The floods is threat'ning
My very life today
Gimme, gimme shelter
Or I'm gonna fade away
War, children, it's just a shot away
It's just a shot away
It's just a shot away
It's just a shot away
It's just a shot away
I tell you love, sister, it's just a kiss away
It's just a kiss away
It's just a kiss away
It's just a kiss away
It's just a kiss away
Kiss away, kiss away

It seems, however, you're incapable of setting up an appropriate comparison. Your organs are not "thrown around like candy" in posthumous organ donation in the same sense that doctors do not "throw stethoscopes around like candy" during body check-ups. They both fail to portray the subject matter accurately. Organs are harvested to save lives; what, you thought they were using them as substitutes for the balls in tennis or something?

I'd rather let the families of the dead choose whether or not they let the doctors use their organs as replacements for others. We already have a system in place where donated organs will get you a certain amount of cash, vital organs like hearts or lungs are worth more, but it is entirely voluntary. Some individuals don't like doctors prying through the dead for organs, and as a nation, we have to respect that sort of thing, whether for religion or for letting the dead stay undisturbed. It's better to make the transaction voluntary and give either the donor themselves or the donors family some sort of money reward as an incentive, rather than cutting up the dead and harvesting their organs because they can't say no.
