Thank you for the Thranduil background references everyone! This is really a character I did not pay much attention to in the past, but now that he’s been brought to the big screen by a very talented actor… I shall need to take out Unfinished Tales again.

Our new poll takes us on a perilous journey underground.
Open to all nations in the world, as usual.

Other William Puck underground poster? Tell us on the RMB.

And a question to residents: Should we seek diplomacy (embassies) with other eco-friendly regions as well, or just stick to the Tolkien universe?

Thank you for letting us know on the Mordor RMB that your new poll is up. I'm waiting to cast my vote until I'm able to look at the posters. I would now but it's quite late here and I'm off to bed. Too bad I don't have a tree home under the stars like you all do.

Oh, I've seen pictures of those posters before and I love them! I'm also fond of "White Tree of Gondor: Mind the newly planted sapling."

Post self-deleted by Lady Galadriel.

Maybe we can arrange a Mordor hordes visit to Lothlórien some day in the future, and you can try out a tree house. Let me just begin collecting Mallorn nuts and other seeds in case we need to completely replant afterwards. :)

I love browsing those photos too. The contrast between the surroundings and the sudden intrusion of another world is so striking. If I came across a Middle Earth poster, it would make me walk around with an inane grin forever. William Puck brightens people's day. It was really hard to select just 12 examples, the collection is so much fun.

Some very creative posters, sadly I've never seen anything like it around these parts. I'm leaning towards the You Shall Not Pass, simply because it's so well-known.... to qualify as "the best" (for a public area) I think everyone should be able to instantly recognise and enjoy the joke, even people who haven't read the books or seen the films.

I hope that someday some of the more well behaved Orcs might be able to visit your lovely region. Though right now I don't think it would be especially wise as Mordor is in the midst of a transition.

That sounds like fun Malkir. Best wishes for your delegacy!

I hope you don't mind, I pinned this dispatch of yours to the WFE of Mordor.

And we have a new one:

Dining with The White Council

Whose invitation would you like to accept?

Radagast’s home cooked dinner at Rhosgobel features the finest of Mirkwood food gatherer cuisine, but are all those mushrooms really benign and without side-effects?

Elrond’s last homely house and its high table have been praised even by discerning hobbits, but the song and poetry courses last much longer than any of the other courses, and are obligatory.

The two Blue Wizards carry around exotic spices and gossip from places in Middle Earth you have never seen, but they don’t have time to set up more than a primitive roadside picnic.

Galadriel’s woodland realm knows how to feast underneath Varda’s stars, but do you have the head for heights to spend the entire evening balancing and gently swaying on the highest flet?

Saruman has been accepting generous neighbourly gifts (ahem tribute) from realms far and wide, but he will go on and on badmouthing the other wizards, and babbling about his ambitions all evening.

Círdan from at the Grey Havens welcomes you on a terrace with a view of an unforgettable sundown over the Western sea, but you really need to like fish and seafood, otherwise there won’t be much to eat for you.

Gandalf can’t cook for toffee, but he knows someone whose pantries are plentiful of goodies, with wine and beer to accompany the multi-course dinner, and who won’t mind at all if a visitor brings along a friend (or thirteen).

Who doesn't like seafood?

Círdan's sunset terrace is a clear favourite. But Gandalf's unique dinner guest method is currently catching up.

Hello all! Evil Lord Sauron is an enterprising type and is currently looking to start a small business. Please vote now and help him decide which of these ideas he'll open!

page=poll/p=14771

I'll write a brochure for the winning idea and post it as a Dispatch on Mordor's WFE

Hmmmm. I have misgivings about this orc cuisine thing. Some of our scouts have recently gone missing. The Eye of Sauron and my Mirror would probably be spying on each other, stuck in endless feedback. The spa sounds attractive; it's the sort of thing I'd recommend for reconstructing a more pleasant Mordor once its evil overlord has finally been… er well anyway… I could let Nenya vote for the jewelry option, just so that Evil Lord Sauron and Malkir know that whatever business they open, they shall have some competition.

Nenya has the urge to vote for the spa too. Will anyone ever study this strange interchange between ring and bearer?

I'm sure your scouts are just... er... lost? Maybe they wandered too close to the dead marshes.

The jewelry store seems to be turning out to be a very popular opinion. I think everyone wants to buy their own rings of power. I think that the spa in Mount Doom could go a long way to revitalizing Mordor's tourist industry. Mayhaps you and Nenya could enjoy a nice day at the spa. I'm sure we could offer you a ring bearer discount or something.

As a friend of mushrooms with various side effects (or shall we say primary effects, if you catch my drift), I'm most thrilled to accept good old Radagast's invitation!

There are other magic rings, as Gandlaf says in The Hobbit and tries to differentiate The One Ring from in LOTR. So how would go around proving legitimate ring bearers for that discount of yours?

Sup

yo :P

Well since Sauron taught the elves how to craft rings of power, I think he could probably tell which ones were real or not. Unfortunately, the spa choice didn't win so there won't even be a ring bearer discount.

Nonetheless, the ring bearer discount was a kind thought, and appreciated. I'm not so hard up, but some of my colleagues... you would hardly believe it. They can get themselves into real difficulties. Mithrandir once showed up here with no clothes.

Quoting to keep the choices on the RMB for the duration of the poll.

That didn't seem too relaxing anyway... if it was on the shores of lake Nurnen maybe it would have won.

And which option won?
