"Odds are" sounded like you were telling him "no sh*t, dumbass" in that regard. So I thought you were being "smart", and since it wasn't relevant to what he said, and this stuff offends him, I felt the need to step in.
But what I said after "Odds are" was an opinion which expanded on what he said, and didn't relate to his own knowledge on the subject. How is that dumping on him?
