The United Republic of Samukan wrote:And yet by saying that it's definitely the protesters, you're assuming. Considering that a number of the targets are black-owned businesses (including Michael Brown's father's church), I would say that at least some of it is anti-protesters.[quote]
The majority of the population is black, so that makes sense. This whole scenario sounds more like a coincidence.

[quote=samukan;8762131]Does that really justify deploying 2,000 National Guard troops and tear gassing peaceful protesters? Keep in mind that none of these businesses were guarded; they're too focused on stopping the peaceful protests.

Sending the National Guard for events such as these are entirely reasonable. They deployed them in anticipation of violent protests, which in fact, did happen. And besides, they didn't even actually use the National Guard, they were just present. The tear gassing was done by police. Which would be an example of police brutality if it was done on non-violent protesters.

Too focused on stopping the peaceful protests? Where did you hear that?

The United Republic of Samukan wrote:That's completely unrelated to what I said. I said that the goal of the media here is to highlight the violent rioters over the peaceful protesters to make the whole movement look bad.

That's the media for you. They make a big deal out of anything to get a story going. Take the Boston "Bombing" for example. This isn't new. Media outlets have their biases and agendas, and you should expect to see those agendas reflected with certain ones going after certain groups of people. It happens all of the time. And once again, it happens here. Look at Fox news. It primarily makes liberals look bad. Look at CNN. It primarily makes conservatives look bad.

This whole event is over-sensationalized for that matter. None of this is even news-worthy. A criminal assaults a police officer and attempts to disarm the officer, fight ensues, someone dies. That should honestly be the end of it news-wise.

The United Republic of Samukan wrote:Yes, they can. But the Grand Jury had an opportunity to guarantee a trial, and they didn't take it. They should have, since it was possible -- not definite, maybe not even likely, but possible, given someone's death -- that Darren Wilson committed a crime.

Yeah, they had an opportunity, but they decided there wasn't enough evidence that would make Officer Wilson guilty. If it isn't even likely, then why should they have? Brown family can still file a lawsuit if they want, what does it matter what they should have done?

The only crime committed here was that of Mike Brown. Whether lethal force was necessary or not is questionable, but under the circumstances, I don't blame Wilson.

Also, I posted that after your post below mine, so disregard any repeats or things you already conceded to, Samukan.

I just played 20 straight games of Smash 3DS with my younger cousin. Nope, didn't let him win once. He's actually pretty good though.

Also Sam, if you can wanna play Smash Wii U online tomorrow.

I'm thankful that we've got the guard in that town, who knows what more damage they could do in there? The tear gas should be used to contain the rioters, because they do more harm than help. Peaceful protests can be very effective and heavily televised, I remember the Occupy Wall Street one a while ago with all those people camping out in parks, marching down 42nd Street. But when you've got peaceful protests, in NYC, in L.A., and then one crazy fireball in Ferguson, the media, and in effect the people, will obviously focus way more on that.
Also, I doubt that looters care for whether or not it's a black owned business. I think it they don't stand in front of the store going "Does Tyler own this? He's black right? Yea, lets go hit up the liquor store". If anything, they grab a brick, or a gun or something, and straight up break the windows. Then they steal stuff and leave, or burn it down and leave. Besides, Ferguson is like 60% black anyways, so it'd be safe to assume that most of them are black-owned.

So... Anyone in the US of A have Thanksgiving plans?

I'm gunna go visit some of my moms friends, and we'll talk about fun things, like me getting a job, which I so desperately want.
And turkey....mm.....turkey.....does anyone here ever have whats like a cake with blueberries and fruits on it? I literally crave those every thanksgiving.

I don't....know what Marzipan is...is that the cake thing?

It's what goes on top of the cake.

Like...if there is a ribbon design on the top, it's made of marzipan.

It's just sugar with almond meal.

I haven't had that cake in so long, I'm not really sure.
All I'm sure of now is that I want marzipan.

Good luck on your job search. I've caddied before, and while it paid really well. It was horrible. Make sure you like what you're doing for your first job, not just what pays well, or what all your friends are doing.

Marzipan is like a sugary substance will almonds used in cake decor. Like ribbons and the such. Basically what Sandwich said.

And the city from Chowder is Marzipan City. That show was my jam when I was younger. :D
