Welcome back, Ascovis! I hope everything's been well.

Thank you! I've been inactive because I had to move. I'm sorry!

Well, we can't just ignore RL completely, and stuff happens. Welcome back, anyhows.

In accordance with the regional majority I voted for the SC resolution 'Commend McMasterdonia' (regional opinion, when last checked, = 6:0), which has just passed, and am currently voting against the GA proposal 'Convention of Fracking' (regional opinion, when most recently checked, = 1:5).
Also, I have just cast a preliminary vote for the SC proposal 'Commend Sciongrad', although of course I'll change that if a clear majority of you decide to oppose the measure.

I'd like to take this opportunity to thank the good citizens of IDU for letting me spam--er, POST, on your RMB...and to congratulate Bears Armed on their election to an unprecedented 784th term as IDU delegate! We couldn't be prouder to be diplomatic partners with this region, and to witness them repeatedly elect a filthy sovereigntist like BA to lead their reputedly IntFed-leaning contingent in the WA. Again congratulations, and Mwahahahahaha!!!! OK, OK, I'm finished! Peace out.

Ah, hello! ^–^

Thankyou for the gift basket :)

Bears Armed: I also was in the tiny minority that voted against the Child Pornography Ban. If you don't mind sharing, what were your reasons? I'm just curious, since it passed by a landslide.

Regional Cabinet appointments:
Foreign Minister: The dark star republic
Minister of Immigration: Sciongrad
(Both of the above two appointments are currently provisional: Any members of the region who object to either of those choices now have one week in which to call for a vote of no confidence against the appointees -- needing a proposer and a seconder -- in the thread http://s10.zetaboards.com/IDU/topic/7510522/1/?x=0#post8033005 .

The position of Vice-Delegate is still vacant...

OOC there was just something (hard to pin-down) about the wording that I just didn't like, and pornography just isn't a big thing for Bears IC (because of the importance of olfactory cues, which such material obviously couldn't incorporate very well, in Ursine sexuality...) so the national government had doubts about whether the matter was really serious enough to justify the intrusion on national sovereignty. If I'd only been voting for the Bears alone then I'd probably have abstained, but as I was voting as Delegate and with the regional balance against (even if only 3:4) switching to against instead seemed the right thing to do.

That was my first 'Sports' thing in NS, too, although far enough back that there wasn't yet a separate section of the forum for such matters.
And that reminds me, I need to get the Bears' entrants for this summer's games sorted out too. RP for the World Cup qualifiers has been taking priority over that (and the Bears are doing quite well, so far: after the first five qualifying matches they head their group, in which they were the third seed, with a 4W/1D/0L run that gives them a 2-point lead over the next-most-successful team [the groups' first seed, and the only side to have managed a draw against them as of now]...) instead. Ah well, my World Cup for the last few cycles has involved a Multiversal Crisis that includes time-warps, so using exactly the same set of entrants as I did last Summer could actually be justified if necesary...

The dark star republic

The Olympics are very fun, and I definitely will try to enter if I have time, and would encourage other IDU nations to do so. Good luck to Sanctaria and the Bears!

I have zero idea how it all works, so I'm not expecting anything but experience moving forward.

I was in an Olympics. I even won a bronze medal. I milked it for all it was worth. Then I signed up for the next Olympics and got nothing. It was all a fluke. :P

I've never really dabbled in NS sports, but I might give it a go eventually. It's like a little corner of NS that I've never even considered before, so it should be fun trying something completely new.

The GA proposal now at vote, 'Cyber Security Act', is seriously flawed. We suggest voting against it, and have already done so ourrselves on a provisional basis -- in the hope that this "stacking" will help to guide some of the WA's less experienced members -- although of course if too many of you choose the opposite course then we will have to reverse that vote before the final tallying is made.

Oops! I actually meant to quote that last post, not to suppress it... I was (and amd) just going to mutter something grumpy about nations (such as the 'Republic of Rineland') that only stay here for long enough to collect the gift-basket...

^_^

Agree with our Urrsish friends. The resolution defines "cyberterrorism" way too broadly.

The fact that your medal-winner was too far out of his head on drink & drugs to remember much about the event afterwards probably didn't help...
:p

Sciongrad wrote:Ouch, I hope you feel better soon, Bears. :(

Thank you, yes, I do.
I think that the headache was caused by an accumulated shortage of sleep due to the long spell of hot weather we'd been having here, and now that the weather has moderated a bit I've been able to catch up a bit.

^_^

The GA proposal 'Cyber Security Act', which thsi region was voting against 0-11 when last I checked (a couple of hours before voting ended), was defeated by 6'621 votes to 2'581.
Now at vote is a proposal by the title of 'On Hydraulic Fracturing': This is a blocker that I consider basically harmless but for which I see little need, and I'll hold off on voting until there's a clear regional majority one way or the other.
