Socialism and Fascism are on opposite ends of the political spectrum.
Also, the word Socialism suffers in the US because most people in the US can't even be arsed to look up how Socialism and Communism are different (and they are).

I once read somewhere that the major difference between fascism and communism/socialism were mainly different along how they viewed the proletariat struggle. The "left" wingers tended to view it as an internecine struggle while fascist saw it more as a national, proletariat countries versus bourgeois countries. Which I thought was pretty cool on Fascism's part, but I can't remember where I read that from :/

it appears the name Starbucks (a certain overpriced kaffeehaus) comes from the character Mr Starbuck in Melville's Mobydick. I never knew that until recently.
