I've been peripherally involved in several, including the famous 'Kraven Wars' of the last decade. I even had a fantastic RP with him where a team of my SAS infiltrated Father's mainframe and attempted to destroy the birthing chambers and capture Father's AI. It failed magnificently lol

I don't know what in the world any of that's supposed to mean but he sounds like a fun fellow to RP with.

Anyway, I'm trying to update my factbook with all of the details of my government. Any ideas for what a technocratic government would look like? I have no examples to go by lol

'Father' was the name of the sentient artificial intelligence which dominated Kraven's government. His nation was devoid of any love or allowance of personal thought or feeling, so even birth was done in 'birthing chambers' which had females hooked to machines which impregnated them, artificially sped up the development process, and then birthed new workers and soldiers for the Kraven Corporation. Scary stuff, but brilliant.

As far as a technocratic government, that depends on how hardcore you want to go with it. I believe Haishan follows a similar line of thought, if I'm not mistaken (which I probably am), but he's on the lesser side which values technological advancement and superiority above all else. Then you have the Kraven Corporation, where technology is all consuming nightmare. I'll read your factbook and see if I can provide some guidance, though I'm certain there are others in this region more qualified to do so than myself, admittedly.

TG Morrdh letting him know where you want to go.

OOCly, I'm a 17-year-old living in the UK. I study Government & Politics, Psychology, History and English Literature at A-level.

ICly, I'm the National Republic of Alexiandra (inspired, funnily enough, by Questers). Having just joined GD, I'm yet to join any alliances. I aim to jump into the region's RP as soon as possible.

Welcome to GD.

OOCly, I'm a mid-level executive in a fast-food chain that will more than likely be the cause of your death.

ICly, I'm still out to get you.

Kravanica wrote:Just moved here. Looking for a good region to take part in.

I'll be out to get you too. Welcome.

His nation to some extent reminds of Brave New World by Aldous Huxley.

And I'm trying to go for a more traditional technocratic government. I think I'll divide the legislature into a Council of Scientists and a Council of Engineers. I'm just having trouble deciding whether or not they'd be selected or appointed.

I won't be instigating an East v. West rivalry. ICly, we see one form and we will navigate it politically, but the Golden Throne is not actively seeking out the rivalry. In fact, the war with Scand will take up most of our energy, so it's not in our best interest to develop bad relations anyways (even though it seems we like to keep neighbors on edge). But, some things will just come naturally because of geopolitics and path depedency, I think. I.e. it's not something that will change unless our ambitions, and therefore the geopolitical frictions, change.

Well in a purist sense, in political theory a technocrat is selected for the role because of his or her knowledge and expertise. So it would make more sense if they were appointed for being the most knowledgeable.

Speaking of that, I'm supposed to be involved in that but never got any word. You said you'd TG me when the time was right for me to be involved. Has that come yet?

Geopolitical frictions for the win, seig heil

Welcome everyone to GD I'm sure your baskets are on the way.

Haishan wrote:For economic alliances:- In the Far East, there's Eastern Dienstadi Trade Organization. Global Aerospace Trade Association is a regional thing, not region area-specific.

For military alliances:- Bredubar Covenant, mainly concentrated in Far East. Then there's also Colonial Commonwealth Authority, military/space development alliance.

So for power blocs, it's Covenant and Colonial Commonwealth Authority only. Eastern Dienstadi Trade Organization and Global Aerospace Trade Association aren't really a proper power bloc except it's centered on economy.

The CCA is and isn't a power bloc, tis really suppose to be like a Commonwealth of Nations in space.

I'm behind on both map updates and posts, tis been an interesting and busy summer. Hoping to have the map updated by Wednesday, though putting a freeze on map requests until I've caught up.

Theres something else that I wish to say, but under a NDA until Tuesday at the earliest.

I had this idea in my head of the scientists being appointed the best universities in the nation. As for the engineers I'm not too sure. Maybe they could be elected based upon their qualifications.

Political parties in general would be banned, though.

It's been going pretty slow -- the Golden Throne will finally declare war not the next post, but the one after that. And the invasion won't take place immediately after that, since we have to set up the infrastructure for supporting a war of massive scale over like 18,000+ km distance. So, it might be a while.

Interestingly, though, GATA is one of the forces working against the West v. East paradigm, since most of the GD members are in the far northeast and it's brought that are and the Golden Throne closer, economically.

Still a work in progress, but check out my international relations factbook. I believe you'll all like it.

The 'agreements' table is mostly false, ignore it for now.

You can always use some of the Union's infrastructure if you need to.

Looks good...but where is the soil of the United Dominion within this grand region? *winks* Over there to the east of Kylarnatia. If you forgot about me, I'll okay with that. *makes a heart using my fingers*

Kravanica wrote:I requested a spot on the forum.

He'll work it into the next update, then.

Kravanica wrote:I requested a spot on the forum.

I hadn't seen that and had a backlog, I still need to do some work on the map anyway.

Lamoni wrote:He'll work it into the next update, then.

No worries. Just making sure he knew. I likes me a good map.
