I just had a really creepy nightmare last night. I never get nightmares, that helped me turn it into a lucid dream and everything changed. What I did in my dream makes me think I'm insane.

Basically what happened, 5 people broke into the house. My older brother beat the crap out of one and killed him. The other 4 came into the room and beat him down, and when I tried to intervene, I got punched in the face and had someone hitting me repeatedly. My dad came in with a gun, but before he could shoot the person one of the other people hit him in the head with a bat. After that we were tied up and they had gotten to everyone else in the house. While this happened I had a chance to think and realized I wasn't in my house and it was a dream. Instead of waking up I froze everything, the ropes disintegrated and I enacted revenge. I tied them up and tortured the people who attacked us and made their deaths as slow and painful as possible. Then I woke up sweating and angry. I feel like I'm unstable or something.

I used to dabble in Oneiromancy (dream reading). Much like Tarot, the meanings of things are subjective (allegedly). The breaking into a house could represent trespassing or a looser sense of intrusion, such as people interfering in a relationship, work situation etc... The death could be interpreted as a need to cut one person out of your (or your brothers) life, rather than an actual murder.
Dreams are, by their very nature, spurious. Just because you dream vivid things, it does not mean you are unstable. In fact, the manner in which you are affected by it suggests that you are NOT unstable. The emotions that were triggered are perfectly normal for someone who witnesses or is involved in such a situation. I would be more concerned if the incident had resulted in NO emotional response.
Of course, there is also the possibility that you are secretly a serial killer. Never get a gun.... just in case.
