Never heard of it, Orioni.
I don't really go to the cinema or watch television so I have no idea what films have come out. The only films I saw this summer were 'Edge of Tomorrow', 'Godzilla', 'Dawn of the Planet of the Apes'.
And now to get rid of all the telegrams that undoubtedly have swamped my revived puppets.
This is probably late to the party but. The site seems pretty up to date now. I like it. Although still taking a little getting used to.
Yeah, they've made a few cool changes.
I went to see the re-enactment of the Battle of Hastings on Sunday.
Like all re-enactments, it was vaguely disappointing and seemingly overly populated with fat people. I don't think that the men who made up the Saxon fyrd were quite so tubby.
I also bought a dagger, which is cool.
Probably overpriced trash, but I felt it was better than spending over a hundred quid on a sword I'd never have reason to use.
Anyone done anything exciting recently?
That's pretty cool. I love things like that.
You can always spend a few hundred quid on a sword for ornamental purpose? I have a few. Mostly Chinese swords that I use for Kung Fu and stuff. Although being a Dad now I don't get to play with them as much as I would like to. My daughter has a keen interest in anything pointy and deadly it seems. Maybe that's because shes Glaswegian, I have worked it out yet.
I also blew up my car recently. Which was terrifying, and eye waterlily expensive to repair. But it was exciting still. Felt like I was in a real life GTA for a short while, until I realised I'd have to pay for it.
I dunno, a sword just seemed to be too much of an outlay for something even just dumped on a mantelpiece.
I wouldn't even use it for anything, as it seems that you use yours for Kung Fu. It'd just be there, sitting and gathering dust. The dagger will do it, too, but was less than a third the cost.
Did your car literally blow up?
That'd be pretty impressive...
Probably too much mead! Although you'd think they would have walked some of it off on the way back from Stamford Bridge...
Seems like Harold messed up badly, to be honest.
He was on home turf, and all he really had to do was withdraw to a defensive position and, apparently, his army would have doubled in strength within a couple of days.
Instead, he decided to engage an enemy army that was fresh, rather than knackered, and consisted of experienced troops as opposed to mainly militia. All Harold had to do was not die, and he could have done that by not fighting, especially since Duke William had sent all of his ships back to Normandy, in order that his own force didn't have the option of retreat. Avoiding battle would have done this, and all William could have done was ravage the surrounding countryside in the hope that it provoked Harold, whilst in the knowledge that the Saxon forces were getting stronger by each passing hour and his own army was deep in enemy territory and likely looking at annihilation if they lost.
King Harold had the tactical edge over Duke William by choosing to fight at what is now known as the town of Battle, but he'd very much squandered the strategic advantage by picking a fight at all.
I've picked up a new hobby: skateboarding. I'm a bit too old for that, but it's a load of fun. Although right now, I'm feeling my knee pretty bad, so I'm resting it up. I've been doing it for over a month, so far it's a lot of awkwardness and tumbling. My jiu jitsu training is coming in handy, lots of opportunities to test my breakfalling skills.
That's pretty cool.
